A bright heritage house with sunny deck in a beautiful private garden.

Lynmouth Cottage is a heritage home with a beautiful garden, sunny deck, and games room. It is the perfect place to base yourselves as you explore Hobart and Tasmania. The house is centrally located, with MONA to the north, Salamanca and the CBD to the south, the airport to the east, and Mt Wellington to the west. It's a short stroll to the Tracks Café at the Station Garden Nursery, Boathouse restaurant, parks, shops, and a foreshore walking track along the Derwent River to the city.

The cycleway runs right past Lynmouth to the City via the iconic Cornelian Bay Boatsheds, Botanical Gardens and aquatic centre. Lynmouth is within the Scooter Zone, which makes travel all the more fun. There is a secure space for storing your bikes, on wall racks, in the games room, which has a pool table and darts board.

The kitchen and laundry are fully equipped and have all you need to feel at home. The lounge is cosy with a wood fire, comfy couches, board games, NBN WiFi, and a TV (with access to streaming services including Netflix, Prime, Kayo Sports, and Disney+).

A second living space can be found in the converted garage, a fun games room with pool table and darts board.

Two bedrooms feature queen size beds and the third bedroom has one double and one king-single. The bedrooms have comfy beds with warm feather and down doonas, premium linen, blankets, and electric blankets, perfect for enjoying Tasmania's winter nights. The base nightly price includes two guests, additional guests are AU$35 per guest per night.

The main bathroom, with shower and deep bath is supplemented by a second toilet and laundry area.

Steve is an excellent host in every way. Everything we needed had been thoughtfully provided. The place was immaculate, cosy, comfortable, better than the photos. Autumn getaway

Lynmouth is a well appointed and comfortable cottage. It’s located about 10 mins from the CBD, and was a great base for our day trips. I recommend this place if you don’t want to stay in the CBD.

Perfectly cosy home away from home

Great location not too far from everything we want to visit in Hobart and surrounds. Very comfortable cosy bedrooms, gorgeous garden and well appointed kitchen for self catering. Little bbq on deck perfect for our needs. So relaxing after dinner to enjoy and card game and a wine in the lounge by the fire. Can’t wait to return again.

Gorgeous house and garden

We loved our stay in this beautifully decorated, roomy cottage. I loved the stunning garden and fresh flowers throughout the house and the kids loved the games room, swing set and board games. There was plenty of room for our family of five.

Visit to Tasmania

One of our group was a first time visitor to Tasmania and celebrating a significant birthday. We found Lymouth cottage cosy and like home as advertised. Very clean and well appointed with comfy furniture and all our kitchen, bathroom and laundry needs as well as herbs and vegies to add to our home cooking. Would love to stay again and happy to recommend. Also in a quiet location yet good easy access for all our needs.

So special

From the moment we entered Lynmouth Cottage we were enthralled. There was such a welcoming energy throughout this beautifully renovated cottage and we felt instantly at home. We returned home with so many wonderful memories of our stay…picnic teas on the grass, breakfast chats on the back verandah with views to the mountains, reading on the window seat at the front of the house. Highly recommended. Our perfect home away from home.

Winter solstice

We had a terrific mid-winter visit to Hobart. The house was easy to heat, with electric blankets on the bed for chilly nights. The location was great; easy access to the national parks on this side of Hobart, Mona, and only a few minutes drive into Salamanker markets and the Quay. Would definitely return.

Delightful

Lynmouth is a delightful cottage, and a perfect place from which to explore Hobart. The house is gorgeous, not only beautifully renovated, but also set up with real attention to detail - all the practical stuff is well though out - well kitted out kitchen, plenty of fluffy towels etc, but the little extras like flowers on the mantle pieces made it truly feel like a home away from home. We definitely hope to be back.

Stunning home

Our stay was wonderful, such a beautiful home, gorgeous furnishings and furniture. Well planned out as temporary accommodation, lots of power boards with USB outlets, lovely modern x classic decorating. The fire place, huge and so much firewood available with lots of heating options in every room. Linen was great quality. The balcony was such a lovely spot to watch the world go by, see the clouds move through the mountains with views from all kitchen windows. The garden was just stunning and a great space for our 4 & 5 year old’s to explore and play safely. We were so comfortable and it made our 8 day stay so much smoother with two kids who find change very difficult, it was more than roomy enough to spend the week there with few outings, but also so close to everything to do the touristy things. The shops were an easy ten minute walk away. Close drive to MONA and Hobart CBD/Salamanca Markets only ten minutes in the car. We would absolutely recommend this home for others.

I grew up in Tasmania, having moved here from South Africa when I was a young child. I still love living here and exploring all the wild places with my family. Our favourite places are the Tasman and Freycinet Peninsulas and Flinders and Maria Islands, and every where in between.

We chose New Town to be near Cornelian Bay and the cycleway into Hobart. Being close to the river, yet also close to cafes, restaurants, cinemas, and our families, is precious to us. We think others will enjoy this area too, with its wildlife, heritage homes, and proximity to everything.

Lynmouth Cottage is set up as a home away from home, where you can cook, relax, and share time with friends and family. It is centrally located and provides a great launch pad from which to explore this beautiful island. It has a lovely feel, perhaps because of the sunshine that pours in, or the colourful garden, or the history that is evident the moment you walk through the front door.
