This was such a treat staying in this cute river cottage. Fred and Jane were amazing hosts and very responsive and helpful when we had questions. The beds and couches are comfy. The shower and bathroom are large and clean. It was too hot to use the outdoor shower, but it’s an awesome touch. We utilized the grill and kitchen to save money on meals. The kitchen is well stocked and the pans were some of the nicest we’ve had in a VRBO, which made it easier to clean up after meals. The coffee was delicious! The washing machine and dryer worked well, and it was nice having the barn doors to close and keep noise to a minimum when doing laundry. The screened in porch and yard were incredible. It was too hot (over 100 degrees) for us to use much, but early mornings and breakfast on the porch were great. Crabbing was super fun! The kids loved trying this and we caught 3 crabs as part of our vacation. I would highly recommend this river cottage if you’re looking for a cozy, quiet place to relax during your vacation. We were in the Savannah area for the national track meet, and we are so glad we chose this cottage even being 45-75 min from everything we wanted to do. It was an easy drive to Savannah and Tybee Island. We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.

Peaceful

We wanted to see Savannah but needed a peaceful vacation too. This was perfect for both. The beds were super comfy and the dock, with the wildlife and the breeze, was a great place to relax in the morning and the evening even in the heat of June. Older home but completely updated. A place you can enjoy just hanging around even without the tourist attractions but Savannah and Tybee Beach were only about a 40 minute drive- all interstate. The owners were very nice and easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend. I would happily stay here again.

Lovely Stay!

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Fred and Jane’s rental property. Their cottage was cozy, comfortable and very relaxing after a day of exploring in Savannah and surrounding areas. We appreciated the nice bottle of wine that was placed in the refrigerator and tasty coffee that was given to us along with a handwritten note from Fred and Jane. A nice personal touch.😊We really enjoyed spending time on the screened-in porch sipping our coffee in the morning and wine in the evenings while admiring the beautiful sunset views from the porch as well as the dock. The outdoor shower was a nice amenity and we appreciated the quality of the towels and linens. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

Nice quiet getaway

We stayed here while in town for a few days to visit family. The location, home, and amenities were very nice. The home had everything that we needed and the hosts were very communicative to make sure we were comfortable. We would definitely stay again!

Great stay spending over holidays!

My fiancé and I wanted an alternative to a hotel while visiting family for the holidays. We weren’t disappointed with this beautiful, waterfront property. The hosts were very communicative and hospitable and made sure we were comfortable during our trip. Highly recommend!

Nice and Quiet country style

Great place and very quiet out in country. Place was clean and very cozy. Not to far from Savannah and just a little drive to Publix, Kroger or Food Lion. Definitely a great place to get away from city life to country life.

Honeymoon Bliss

Our stay at "The River Cottage" was purely magical ✨️ It was the perfect getaway for our honeymoon. The Cottage was wrapped in cozy southern charm. It was pristine and supplied with everything we needed to make it our lil home away from home. The sunsets were awe inspiring with the majestic oaks and their dripping Spanish moss. It was located close enough to visit Everything on our itinerary but yet off the beaten path to get away from it all. Fred and Jane were so very helpful with any questions or concerns and gave us insight on local eateries, etc. They were amazing hosts. We made memories in a short few days to last a lifetime at The River Cottage.

Nice getaway!

Fred and Jane were wonderful hosts! So communicative and kind. The property was clean and inviting. My husband and I felt right at home and felt comfortable relaxing and just hanging out at the property. We also discovered the Nespresso machine, which we must be living under a rock because we have never heard of it before. Needless to say, we bought one when we got back. Overall, we had a great experience!

Time With Family

My sister, Aunt and I loved our stay at this beautiful cottage. Communication with the host was very easy. We had no issues during our stay and enjoyed relaxing and spending time together. We all live in different cities in Florida so don’t see each other as much as we would like. The beds were very comfortable which is a blessing at our ages🙂. We would definitely choose this cottage to stay at again!

Midway Getaway

The river house is very much as advertised and a very quiet, out of the way place. It was probably more remote and removed than we had anticipated; about 30 min from any real grocery stores, restaurants, etc. But again, a very peaceful and nicely setup place to relax. The back enclosed porch was wonderful and a great place to eat and watch the sun set. The owner was great and communication was excellent.

Amazing place to stay

My husband stayed for our 21st anniversary, and absolutely loved the place. Visited Savannah, which we loved the beautiful city. The cottage was well equipped with essentials, very clean and smelled amazing. The owners were very personal, checking on us making sure everything was good and if we needed anything to let them know. Highly recommend ❤️

Perfect in every way!

This home and location were perfect for our stay. We wanted somewhere within a reasonable drive to Hilton Head and Savannah, but a quiet place to relax at night. This place and the hosts did not disappoint. We enjoyed catching crabs off the dock and nights on the covered patio. We would stay here again. 10/10!

Peaceful Retreat

My wife and I stayed here for a couples getaway and really enjoyed ourselves. The owners have done an excellent job creating a peaceful and relaxing space. The home is was very clean and thought was put into the entire guest experience. From water bottles in the fridge, bath soaps and lotions, and coffee selections - you can show up and simply unwind. We spent most of our time out during the days - visiting Savannah, Tybee Island, and Hilton Head Island. It was a great place to come home to each evening. Communication was excellent and we had an great experience!

Perfect for a little R&R!

We booked this property for some family time and rest and relaxation before some busy weeks to come. We really just wanted to decompress and stay in a quiet little cottage to spend time together. This place was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very cute and cozy, and we even managed to catch a good amount of crabs with the provided traps. We also took a day trip to Savannah, which was only 40 minutes away. We loved spending time in the backyard and just enjoying the nature. The hosts were very gracious and easy to contact with any concerns. Would love to come back in the future!

Cute little cottage

Such a cute cottage and the home decor was beautiful! The owners stayed in contact and made sure we were ok! They were very welcoming! We were busy going places so we didn’t spend too much time there but would love to plan a non busy trip soon and stay and enjoy the cottage a little more!

Charming Cottage

The River Cottage was the perfect place to celebrate a cozy, relaxing New Years weekend. The cottage is spacious, organized, and well decorated. Light switches, remotes, and appliances are all labeled. The cottage has everything you need - kitchen is well equipped, bathroom amenities were nice. The backyard space and the dock are such beautiful spaces. We enjoyed bird watching from the screened porch in the mornings and sunsets from the dock in the evenings. The office space is a really nice bonus - I was able to get some work done in peace while my brothers cooked. Jane and Fred are excellent hosts. Midway is a nice, small town. We enjoyed lunch at the Farmer's Market and coffee at Haunted Grounds Coffee. Both are quite charming and delicious! HIGHLY recommend this property as a relaxing, getaway. We hope to return soon!

Idyllic setting

My husband (who grew up on a nearby island) and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A perfect blend of the coastal life my husband remembers and a chic cottage, beautifully decorated and as pretty in person as the listing shows. We especially loved the copious seating, inside and out, and the screened porch was a favorite spot. Take advantage of the crab traps - even for catch and release, it’s a fun experience! :) Finally, the hosts are great and communicative and thought of absolutely everything in the well-stocked kitchen. I promise, you’ll be glad you stayed here!

Perfect Getaway

The house was exactly as advertised. We loved the homey feel the owners have created! The house is on the water and we were able to catch some great blue crabs for an amazing fresh low country boil! It's close to larger towns but still feels like you're away from it all.
