The host and owner were very respondent with any issues we had. The house was cozy and clean. The view of the lake is lovely and we enjoyed watching it snow! Would definitely be fun for a small family in the summer.

Perfect lil hideaway

This was a great place to call home for a few days with my spouse! Not far from the dunes, and the sounds of the shore are hard to beat. There’s a couple tips and tricks that would have helped to know, like not using other water when trying to take a hot shower in the house and turning on the sink in the bathroom to get it started. That didn’t make or break our stay and is workable as a whole.

Beautiful views, prime location, quiet & cozy.

Really enjoyed the views and loved the sunroom. It was a nice quiet space right on the water. House was central to everything we wanted to see during our vacation.

Indiana’s best kept secret!

Everything about this place is amazing. The listing does not do it justice. You feel out of the way but you’re right next to everything. Peaceful, breathtaking sunsets! Incredibly comfortable beds & bedding. I am so thankful I have accidentally stumbled across La Porte. Leaving this little slice of heaven was the hardest part. This was a stay I won’t soon forget! Thank you!

Break from stress

This was the perfect house for a break from the stresses of everyday life. A calm, Zen-like atmosphere with a simple, yet intentional and functional layout made the house feel somehow bigger than it actually is. I can imagine in warmer weather the lake feeling like it's right outside the back door. I would definitely stay here again.

Every time I thought about the need for something I discovered / found it. The only thing we would have liked if there was use of pillow protectors on the bed pillows instead of just pillowcases. Waiting for dates to open to book future stay! :-)

Gorgeous Sunsets

This cozy lake cottage was perfect for my husband and me. It is right on Pine Lake with a wonderful ake view and spectacular sunsets. Having 2 bathrooms was so nice. The outdoor seating was ideal. It was quiet and safe. Highly recommend.

Great location and nice, relaxing stay!

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at the Sunset Hideaway in La Porte! Everything we needed was there plus some. The location was SUPERB! The park, the paths, THE WATERFRONT… amazing! And that jacuzzi… mm mm mm! So relaxing. We just have a few recommendations for management: Regarding the lake toys (kayaks, paddle boards), we were really looking forward to using them but they were filthy inside. We tried cleaning them but couldn’t get enough of the plant life/bugs out to be comfortable enough to use them. The paddle board let in water due to holes, so every time we used it, we would have to lift it to let out the water. It was heavy and took a long time standing there holding it upright to empty it. It’s a great idea to have a rack for these items. There is poison ivy lined by the stones as you step down to get to the dock entry that should be removed- BE CAREFUL! The gas grill instructions should be more clear to simply say ‘press start only’. And then, with the propane stuck in the on position, that doesn’t feel safe? The first night we weren’t able to use the grill because of not being aware of this and not receiving a response about it until the next day (in person), so I had to pivot with the dinner I made for us. Lastly, the wet, water logged flower stamp on the toilet paper rolls for presentation- cute idea, but the wet part feels icky considering what we’re wiping, lol! Catch my drift? Oh and speaking of drift- GO TO DRIFT ON PINE! Great rooftops :)

Wonderful Property

So peaceful and tranquil. The tub overlooking the lake was the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is stocked with spices and coffee for the Keurig. Plenty of pots, pans, and blenders for cooking to your heart's desire. We are glad that we chose this property for our getaway.

A lovely weekend getaway

We really enjoyed our time at this property! The lake was beautiful and it was great to take in the fall views before winter comes. There were a few disappointing things that ultimately didn’t too negatively effect our trip. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi tub’s plug didn’t fully close, so you couldn’t use it since it wouldn’t fill properly. There was a water filter there that was confusing to try to use, but the tap water was completely fine. The neighbors were also doing some pretty loud construction on our second day so it was a little loud. The kitchen has to be one of the best stocked in a rental I’ve been to! We did a lot of cooking and it had most things you would want to use in a kitchen and then some. We brought a lot of things assuming we would need it, but ended up not needing to use our own kitchen items! I think with a few small repairs and a good deep clean this place would’ve been absolutely perfect. Overall, we had an amazing time getting away for the weekend and were so grateful to enjoy it in such a beautiful spot.

A Sweet Respite Spot

We took a short trip to plunk down by the water and celebrate our anniversary. The lake is beautiful and clear, and the proximity to Soldier's Park was great to take walks. The home itself has tight quarters, but perfect for a couple. Really all you need. The sun porch was great to sit, read, play the ukelele they had on premises (thank you for that!) and make up songs. We had some confusion about the portable dishwasher since we'd never operated one before, but the property manager was very helpful and quick to respond. It's a sweet little place!

LaPorte Stay

It was a great little house. Beautiful view of the lake right off back porch. There was a great paved walking trail right across the street that went around the lake. LaPorte seemed like a great town. Very friendly people. You must eat at Trattoria Enzo. Amazing!!

Great house for a short trip

While the quarters are tight - worked perfectly for a short weekend with our young kids. Great access for the young kids to play in the sand on the beach, and enjoy the sunset on the porch!

Cozy cabin on a busy lake. Close to La Porte. Disappointed in VRBO customer service on explaining how to pay for this rental. Caused a lot of back/forth with property manager as VRBO call center was unhelpful.

Sunset Hideaway

The three day getaway at this fantastic property is just what my family needed. Plenty of water activity fun to be had. House is quaint but newly remodeled it seems and cute as a button. All household necessities one would require are provided. Paddle board and kayaks available for lake adventures. Sunsets are beautiful. Close to town but also tucked away enough to feel somewhat isolated from the city which is just a hop and skip down the road. Loved the retreat and would definitely stay again. I would highly recommend renting this gem for your next family vacation or friendly outing. Thank you and maybe see you again down the road sometime.

Perfect vacation spot

We had a wonderful time at this cabin for our short summer vacation. Beds were comfortable and kitchen stocked with everything we needed. The lake was super clear! We explored the area along with both the Indiana Dunes State and National Parks, which were around 20-30 minutes away.

Although small, it's a beautiful little home in a great area. Being tucked in from Waverly Rd gives a little privacy, but the convenience of being close to restaurants and stores. It's hard to find a home on the beach to rent in this area! It's peaceful and romantic.
