Economical stay

The property was lovely as we approached. Many updated fixtures and room for our belongings. Some kitchen necessaries were provided along with 3 bath towels and 2 wash cloths. We were satisfied with the rental but would have appreciated more towels, kitchen ute sips like a spatula and a sharp knife for cutting. Also the overhead light were bright but lamps would have been softer. The bathroom needed a thorough cleaning, not filthy but dusty and hadn’t been cleaned recently. Lastly, there did not appear to be AC control and slider was difficult to open and close.

When booking we knew it was a shared property (rental area was the entire basement) which was totally okay. First walking in you smell the food from upstairs (which I could handle) continuing in it was not clean. Dried food everywhere. Bathroom was covered in long hair and used sponge. Zero tv capability. As well as zero air temp capability (would have to message the homeowner to do so). when reaching out to home owner to let her know we would be leaving and finding other accommodations, my husband I were met with excuses. From start to our quick leaving was tough. I do not feel that it is a good situation for anyone trying to rent from her. Looking around for any reviews from her home and came across a review that was exactly what we had dealt with. I hope it will get better for other renters.

Newer space but poor execution/communication

The space was modern. The communication was poor. The host was nice but was not prepared for our stay. The property was booked using an agency so I received good communication through the booking agent (evolve) but I had to reach out to the host a week before our stay because I had not heard from the host directly at all regarding check in procedures. When I reached out, the host appeared to not know that we were booked or coming. We sorted that out and the host confirmed our stay. On the day of our arrival, I didn't receive any communication from the host. I had let her know when we would be arriving in email. When we showed up at the house her response was "oh that was today?". There was someone in the apartment (maybe a family member) staying and it was not clean. She said they would leave and she would quickly clean. We left to give her time to clean. The place was not thoroughly cleaned when we got back. To be fair, we may have been the first ones staying here and perhaps things will improve with experience. I think it was a new listing. Things were not fully stocked. There was only one towel for us and while there were a few things stocked in the kitchen, there were not a lot of basic things one might need in a kitchen. There was coffee and a keurig. Beds were comfortable and the place modern and nice in that setting. Temperature was comfortable but not adjustable. You can hear a lot of movement from those above. Better locks and security on both doors would be good.
