The home was everything we hoped for and more! The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning kept us cool, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were in town for a wedding at Walden Woods, and this place was perfect. I would absolutely stay here again.

Lakefront Hartland Cottage

Property met and exceeded expectations. My family and I enjoyed the view, fishing on the lake and grilling on the patio with a Nights fire. Neighborhood 4th of July fireworks were a great added bonus

Amazing house for family!

Beautiful view across lake to park! Clean house and plenty of amenities! Huge plus to staying here as a family was having three bedrooms so everyone had their own room and 2 and a half bathrooms! Would highly recommend this place! Only thing is to be careful if sitting in the rocking chairs outside by the fire pit… they look pretty but we sat in one and leaned back to relax and the chair filled over backwards!

Great Place for a Small Family Gathering!

Our three brothers and sisters-in-laws came into town for a visit. We live in Milford, so it was an easy trip to go spend time with them! Everyone loved the accommodations and location and all said "give them a 5 star rating!" We loved it so much, we've already booked this same place for our 2025 family gathering! I'd also like to mention the property manager, Tonya, was very nice to work with! Thank you Tonya!

Hartland Lakeside Cottage

This was one of the best stocked VRBO’s we’ve stayed in. We had everything we needed. Including a nice Cuisinart coffee maker! Which was great! Maxwell House is provided. We prefer organic coffee and bought our own. The next day, we found a coffee-bean grinder, what a bonus! We would have bought beans! Well stocked with linens, towels and blankets. We didn’t need to call for a restock of any paper goods. We had a water issue the first evening we were there and the owner responded within 10 minutes and had the handyman there working a half hour later. He had the issue fixed the next morning after getting the part needed.Although we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful outside patio and fire pit, due to the blustery weather, we would not hesitate to book this again in warmer weather. A wonderful , carefree stay!

A Lakeside Paradise in Hartland, MI ★★★★★

Our recent stay at this beautiful lake house in Hartland, MI, was an unforgettable experience. The home, surrounded by nature and local wildlife, like the Sandhill Cranes, offered a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house was extremely comfortable and well-equipped, especially the kitchen, making our stay convenient and enjoyable. The various seating areas, two fire pits, and a backyard swing allowed us to relax and appreciate the stunning views. We had access to Kensington Metropark's beaches and water slides close to the property, adding extra fun to our trip. The location was also great for exploring nearby cities like Lansing, Ann Arbor, Detroit Metro area, Flint, and Owosso. In short, the Hartland Lake House exceeded our expectations, offering a blend of relaxation and exploration. We highly recommend it for a fantastic vacation experience.

Nice property, awful check-in

We were given an outdated door code and were not able to get inside after a long day's drive. After some struggles contacting the property manager, we were finally given the right code. When we got inside, it was freezing! The AC was set to 50 degrees. More struggles to get the "smart" thermostat set properly. The house itself is nice and was clean. Could use more silverware and outdoor chairs; there was not enough for the six adults in our group. Loved seeing the swans and sandhill cranes on the lake.

We traveled with our son, his wife and 7 mos. old grand-baby.1. The lake was not usable. The water was murky, swampy, weedy, and had a very muddy/silty bottom. Not swimmable. Boats were filthy, no life jackets.2. Two days into our stay, the air conditioning stopped working. We contacted the host, Tonya, who sent someone out. That person couldn’t fix the issue, said they’d return within 45 minutes, and then never came back. We were later told someone else would come at 7:30 a.m. the next morning. In the meantime, the house was uncomfortably hot, and because most of the windows (around 80%) did not open, there was very little airflow. We had to purchase box fans ourselves just to make the temperature bearable—especially with an infant in the house. The repairman informed us the AC unit was completely broken and needed a full replacement, but that couldn’t be done until the following week. He got it started, but said that it could stop at any minute which left us stressed, especially for the baby.Other issues:Ceiling fans with light and fan not separated, had to loosen lightbulbs at night to use the fansBack door handle broken, no lock for safetyWashing machine leakedBarbecue grill/brush was disgustingly filthy (bugs, grease)Earwigs were everywhere inside the houseTone of communication with Tonya was often defensive/dismissive, not helpfulPro: location was great for family to visit; kitchen well-supplied.Not recommended for families with children.

80s horror movie ready to happen

For your safety, do not even consider this house. I was in it about 20 minutes before fleeing in terror. There is an upstairs floor/apartment that shares the same front door entrance as you. You have no way of securing yourself against whoever is in that apartment but that individual can freely come in and out of your part of the house. There is not another entrance/exit. We heard footsteps and the sound of something dropping from up there although everyone assured us no one was there. Don't know, we couldn't check because that floor is inaccessible to US even though WE are accessible to THEM. To make matters even more terrifying, you can't even lock the bedroom doors. They lock from the *outside* via a key that was not apparent to me. So someone could lock you in; you could NOT lock someone out. To my concerns the host replied that it was the 'safest street in the world with elderly residents who go to bed early'. I translated that into "no one would hear you scream". I am not a hysterical person, and stay in VRBOs all the time without complaint. Further it was midnight, I was exhausted after a long day of travel--if there had been ANY way I could rationalize in my mind that it was OK, believe me, I'd have done it because I really just wanted to go to sleep. It was just that scary.

Daze on the lake

Had to go buy a propane tank. Boat had a leak in it. Air conditioner was temp fixed till end of stay. Water softener blew its top and was spraying water at 3 am. Our guys fixed it.
