Thoughtfully designed for couples and adults seeking privacy, comfort, and spectacular waterfront scenery, this spacious 684 sq ft apartment-style suite offers an unforgettable West Coast escape on beautiful Pender Island.

The bright, open living room features soaring ceilings and large waterfront windows that fill the suite with natural light while framing panoramic harbour views. Step onto your own private oceanfront balcony, where comfortable seating invites you to relax with a morning coffee, enjoy a glass of wine at sunset, or simply watch sailboats drift quietly through Bedwell Harbour as the changing light transforms the landscape throughout the day.

Although the suite is located within our oceanfront home, your accommodation is completely private. You'll enjoy your own private entrance, king bedroom, spacious living room, ensuite bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette, private oceanfront balcony, and private BBQ. There are no shared indoor spaces. The beautifully landscaped gardens, charming Tea House, and pathway leading to the beach are shared only with guests staying in our Queen Suite.

Susan was very responsive. The space was clean. The kitchens had all the amenities we were hoping for. Stunning water view, very quiet area. 2 beds to choose from to find one that meets your needs (1 is a sofa bed).

Everything was very clean- lots of towels provided.The kitchen supplies included paper towels, foil, saran wrap, cooking oil, salt and pepper, sugar and coffee pods for the Keurig.The dual kitchens (One is in the living area with the fridge and the other at the back door has the stove, microwave and dishwasher) took a bit of getting used to and, even though the fridge and freezer were family sized there wasn't storage space for groceries.Fabulous ocean view with lots of outdoor seating. Very comfortable king sized bed and great shower.There are stairs down from the parking to the suite entrance.

We enjoyed our weekend stay. The suite is clean and has wonderful views of the harbour. Our host gave us a list of things to do and where to eat which was very helpful!

We have family on Pender Island and over the years we have stayed at a number of lodgings. We were surprised to find that this was one of the most comfortable places we have ever stayed on the island. The bed was very comfortable, the shower excellent, and there is an incredible view. We recommend this lodging without reservation.

Communication with the host was EXCELLENT! Pictures of the property accurately represent the property. Views from the deck and main living space were stunning and so peaceful. Only recommendations are to provide a few small items (tea, lotion, full bottle of body wash, decaf tea and coffee). Additionally, a TV would have been a nice addition for evenings. Although the host couldn’t have been more receptive to our calls, it was challenging to find the correct house and entry to our lodging. To be fair, we came in late at night, but the for sale sign in the front, the designation of residence 1 & 2 with misleading arrows, and lack of lighting, made our arrival hard to navigate. That being said, we would definitely recommend the property!

Super clean space overlooking a beautiful harbour. We really enjoyed lounging on the deck’s reclining chairs, the bright and open living room, and the heated bathroom floor. The two food prep areas have enough of the things you need to store and prepare food. The host was also very responsive and pleasant to deal with. Thank you for having such a peaceful place to enjoy time on Pender Island.

Welcome to Shangrila!

Many years ago, my husband and I traveled from Montreal to British Columbia and discovered Pender Island almost by chance. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking ocean views, the peaceful atmosphere, and the warmth of the island community. We knew we had found somewhere truly special.

Like many of our guests, we love traveling, photography, music, reading, and writing. We believe the most memorable journeys are not just about the places we visit, but about the moments of peace and connection we find along the way.

Over the years, Pender Island has become our own Shangrila—a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and appreciate life's simple pleasures. It is our joy to share this beautiful corner of the island with guests from around the world.

We live on the property and are always happy to recommend our favorite hiking trails, beaches, restaurants, kayaking adventures, and hidden local gems. At the same time, we respect your privacy, and your suite is completely private with no indoor shared spaces.

Bedwell Harbour is one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations on Pender Island. Surrounded by calm waters, forested hills, and abundant wildlife, it's the perfect place to slow down and enjoy nature.

From Shangrila, you can watch sailboats drift through the harbour, welcome the day with spectacular sunrises, and often spot seals, otters, bald eagles, herons, and other coastal wildlife right from the property.

We're just minutes from scenic hiking trails, beautiful beaches, kayaking, local cafés, artisan studios, farmers' markets, and island restaurants, yet the property feels wonderfully quiet and secluded. It's the perfect balance of convenience and tranquility.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Shangrila is more than just an oceanfront retreat—it's a place with a remarkable story.

The property was originally created by an artist who once lived in Hawaii. He shared that he had a vivid dream of a dragon peacefully wrapped around an island. In the dream, a wise guide told him it was one of the safest and most peaceful places in the world.

Some time later, while taking a ferry to visit his parents on Vancouver Island, he caught his first glimpse of Pender Island. He immediately recognized it as the island from his dream.

Inspired by that experience, he moved to Pender Island and built this waterfront home. The winding wooden walkways through the gardens were designed to reflect the graceful shape of the dragon from his dream, and the peaceful Tea House was created as a place for quiet reflection overlooking the harbour.

Today, those beautiful gardens, the Tea House, and the winding pathways remain an important part of Shangrila's character. Whether or not you believe in dreams, many guests tell us there is something truly peaceful and special about this place.
