Dordogne revisted

Triguidenat is a traditional Perigord house wonderfully located in substantial grounds with distant views of Beynac and Fayac chateaux. A comfortable base with good facilities and a cooling, well maintained pool. Very close to many famous Dordogne sights and Sarlat a short drive away for provisions. Ideal house for a group of adult friends or two families. Would highly recommend.

A stunning property! Our family (5 adults, 2 young teens and our little dog) had a lovely time here at the end of July ‘26. The place is immaculate and a cleaner helps maintain it twice a week. The pool was huge and very much a refreshing relief from the high temperatures we had during our visit. Every morning we woke to absolute peace and at least 8 hot air balloons drifting over with the gorgeous view of sunflowers and Baynac castle in the distance. It is a 10 min walk along the drive to the famous Marquaysaac gardens, which we visited on a Thursday evening, as on the summer they light it up and have live music. The views from it are spectacular! 5 min drive gets you to Castelnaud (lovely bread and cakes in the patisserie) a great castle for children to visit. 7 mins to Baynac by car, a well kept castle worth the walk up to (go early morning), and Rogue Gageac is round the corner (by car) where you can have lovely meals or head off on a kayak trip up the Dordogne. Châteaux Milandes is also very close and a highly recommended visit if you want to find out more about the inspirational Joséphine Baker. The villa was in a beautiful setting in a very convenient location, which we wish we been able to stay longer at! Our dog loved the huge garden, where she safely ran about, watching deer and hare with us. We would definitely return.

Gorgeous Dordogne Valley and Triguedinat

We loved our stay. The house was situated so conveniently to all the small towns in the area and yet was far away enough from any other house, we could sit out on the patio without any disturbances. Unfortunately the weather did not allow the grandkids to swim as often as they wanted but the boulangerie in Castelnaud made up for part of the disappointment. Yves was a gracious host and Nadine and Jan-Pierre watched over the house like concerned parents. This is a grand house and the view of Beynac Castle was stunning, especially when the sun set right behind the castle on the hill. Hot air balloons regularly rose above the property and made for excellent photography. Thanks to all three "hosts".

This was our second stay in this venerable house - we loved the fact that it is off the beaten track and not surrounded by other buildings or in the middle of a village - so folk renting this property can have the freedom and spaciousness that it allows. The incredible views of Beynac Castle, especially late afternoon, as the sunset blooms into clouds of incredible oranges, yellows and blue hues, can be enjoyed while sipping one's wine on the patio in front of the house. Then in the mornings, one can thrill to the sight of six or seven hot air balloons in the sky around the Castle and the house.A more convenient location with peace and tranquility (and the swimming pool) cannot be imagined, especially as closely situated as it is to the Gardens, to La Roque-Gageac and to Castlenaud.
