Casa Sonterra is a two-story home with three bedrooms in Surfside — a charming neighborhood in the popular beach town of Potrero on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast.



The Space:

The property features vibrant colors and decor throughout the home and beautiful outdoor spaces, including a backyard with a rancho and swimming pool, a shaded terrace, and a grassy yard encompassed by a gate for security and privacy.



Casa Sonterra features an open-concept living room and kitchen with a rectangular dining table for six guests. The living room is furnished with two blue couches with colorful throw pillows, a coffee table made from local wood, a flat-screen TV, and a sliding glass door that leads out to the patio with a sparkling swimming pool, lounge chairs, a shaded rancho with wicker furniture, a picnic table, and a BBQ grill. The private backyard is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and private oasis.



The kitchen is situated next to two sliding glass doors that lead to the patio, offering a bright, open design. The kitchen has granite countertops, wood cabinets, island seating for two, and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave, oven, stovetop, and a brand-new refrigerator and freezer. The kitchen also features a built-in wine rack and a ceiling fan to keep the space cool while cooking.



The master bedroom is located upstairs and features a king-sized bed, a walk-in closet, and an attached bathroom with a bathtub and single-sink vanity. The master bedroom is decorated in calming blue accents and features high ceilings for a bright, airy atmosphere. The master bedroom also offers access to a spacious terrace with views of the surrounding mountains and greenery.



The two downstairs bedrooms both have plenty of closet space, and each has a sliding glass door that leads to the swimming pool and rancho. One bedroom offers a queen-sized bed, while the other has two single beds. Both bedrooms share a downstairs bathroom with a walk-in shower.



Casa Sonterra has secure gates and seven-foot walls, outdoor cameras, and a security system for your peace of mind. The home also has an attached single-car garage, a laundry room with a washer and dryer, and comes with air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

The Neighborhood:

Surfside is a charming community on Playa Potrero where many expats live permanently (in particular Canadians and Italians), and where visitors can choose from a wide range of elegant vacation rentals, appetizing restaurants and lively bars.

Located between the towns of Potrero and Flamingo, Surfside is an eminently walkable village where the beach is never more than a few blocks away. Several tour offices offer a variety of adventures by land and sea, and real estate offices will be happy to show you your next home in paradise.

Attractions you won’t want to miss include the beachfront Sailing Center (restaurant, bar, pool and sailing packages); the popular Perlas restaurant (a high-end roadhouse/sports bar with big-screen TVs, live music, and great wings, burgers and pizzas); the Cervecería Independiente craft brewery between the two; and other local eateries including the Shack and the Beach House.

The lines are somewhat blurred between Potrero and Surfside — Potrero (“pasture”) was the original Costa Rican name of both, but Surfside became the popular name when a lot of foreigners began developing its southern outskirts. Most people would probably say that Potrero starts somewhere north of Perlas, and it’s Surfside to the south. In either place, you can’t go wrong.



Getting Around:

Our agents will be happy to assist you with renting a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area where you want, when you want. For short drives to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are another popular mode of transportation. You can also rent a bicycle to ride around in town or beyond.



We can arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rental cars can also be delivered to your property at no additional cost, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery as our private van drives you here from the airport.



Taxis are available but can be a bit hard to find. Many locals use buses to get around, though there are a limited number of routes and times of day when you can catch them. Private shuttles can be a great option for traveling to nearby destinations, and many tour companies offer transportation to and from the tour. Our information brochure will provide you with useful information on local transportation options and points of interest, as well as contact information for taxis and shuttles.



Other Things to Note:

Special Places of Costa Rica is committed to protecting our properties and complying with short-term rental regulations, which is why all guests are required to complete an independent verification with our trusted partner, TRUVI, before check-in. You will be contacted via email, text, or app notification with instructions to complete this process. As part of the verification, you will need to choose between paying a refundable security deposit (which includes a non-refundable 2% processing fee) or purchasing a non-refundable damage waiver, which protects you in case of accidental damage during your stay. We strongly recommend the damage waiver, as it provides peace of mind and avoids tying up funds with a deposit. Both the TRUVI verification and your selection of either the deposit or the damage waiver must be completed prior to your arrival.
