This bright welcoming home is located within walking distance to the Uptown Arts District, many local restaurants, the Lighthouse Outlet Mall ( across the street) and Washington Park. You will find the promise of art, shopping, and local culture around every corner with Notre Dame sports a short drive away Of course, it's OK to relax too! Whether you're kicked back watching a movie or enjoying morning coffee on our patio, we've got you covered. No more than 4 adults, booking guest must be 24+

You will be sent front door keypad code along with exact address 4 days prior to arrival.
When you arrive, push numbers that pop up on keypad to clear screen, THEN enter access code.

It's called The Funky Flamingo. It's cozy, bright, welcoming, and decorated with tranquility in mind, amidst a funky flair. We go the extra mile to make sure our home has everything you will need for a warm, safe, comfortable stay.

Our quaint, yet roomy boutique-type cottage is welcoming from the moment you enter. We host up to 4 adults over 21 years. Our living area provides a sofa sleeper, 75-inch smart TV over a linear fireplace to set the mood or add some warmth during our winter months! Kutchen seating for 4 and a fully stocked kitchen-just add your own culinary delights. Remember, May-October, every Saturday, our Farmer's Market is just 2 blocks away to stock your groceries with fresh items for the kitchen!

We also feature a fully stocked coffee/tea bar along with some fun treats!

South Shore Train Station is a walkable distance. (Re-opens late 2023)
Uber/Lyft are limited in area

Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form, upload a valid government ID (drivers license, passport, state ID) and sign and agree to our rental conditions.
Any basic need items that have been provided at the home are complimentary to get your stay started, any additional needs will be provided by the guest.

This property served our needs very well. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and the ability to have our pet with us was perfect for us. The property has modern amenities and was well maintained.

Everything about the property was fantastic, the location, the cleanliness, access to the outlet mall and the beaches, we had a wonderful time there!It's a cozy little patio on the back to have your morning tea or coffee and to read the Bible. I highly recommend the funky flamingo. It's not a large place but it's very homey.

The cottage itself was nice, aside from a few issues that were promptly addressed. The surrounding area was not great and it’s on a busy street so lots of nighttime traffic.

Great, clean property! Used this cottage for our sleeping spot as we were in town for a wedding. The owners let us check in early and were extra accommodating with our situation. It is so cute and we would love to stay there again. For some reason on my VRBO web browser, I was not able to see that there was a limit to pets/size, so just be aware that it is pet friendly, but only allows one small dog! :)

Visiting the park

My husband and I stayed here for our visit to the National Park. It was simple and easy to get to with lots of places located near by. We really enjoyed the outlet mall across the street and the Lakeshore cafe coffee spot, both walking distance from the rental home. Only main drawback was that I would have preferred a covered parking space but definitely not a deal breaker. We enjoyed our time at Indiana Dunes National Park and were able to come back to this rental and relax anytime.

House was super clean and very nice. Was looking for a place to stay to visit the beach and National Park. Was definitely one of the nicer houses in the neighborhood.

Was a comfy cozy spot to sit, relax, and just talk. The pull out couch was very comfortable. The most comfortable i have ever slept on. The fireplace was beautiful and functional. It gave off heat or just soft light. We drove to the outlet mall and 2 farmers markets. We had an amazing mother daughters weekend and will definitely come back again.

This property was so cute! It's located close to casinos and wineries we wished to visit. Also just 10 minutes from the beach and marina in New Buffalo. Highly recommend!

A Great Stay at The Funky Flamingo!

We had a wonderful stay at The Funky Flamingo! The home was exactly as described—clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated with a fun, welcoming vibe. The location was perfect, within walking distance to the local restaurants, and shops. Communication with the host was smooth, and they were incredibly helpful throughout. Our stay. all in all, it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

We got a call as we were pulling in that the air conditioning wasn’t working and that they had been trying to fix it all day. It was 6pm, no heads up all day that this was going on. We had been driving for 6 hours and just wanted to take a shower and instead we spent the evening looking for a hotel room. We were refunded our money but the whole situation could have been handled better if they had just been straight as soon as there was a problem.

Great place - quaint, clean. Exactly as described. Walking distance to food, stores, and many other destinations. Small issue with circuit breaker, but easily resolved through texting. Would highly recommend!

Cozy and close to beach

Cozy lil place. Bed had a memory foam which is rough for us . Parking spot was taken the 2nd night. Thats was a lil frustrating.

Cozy place, shopping next door, dunes short drive away

We had a great getaway long weekend! It was perfect for my wife and I. She goes on vacation to do "nothing", and I go on vacation to DO stuff. So while she watched a movie and read a book, I went and ran the trails at Indiana Dunes! There was shopping right across the street! Also, DO NOT leave food laying around...there are little sand ants that will find your food!!!

Great Getaway

No issues. Owner provides various necessities in case they are needed. The kids loved counting all the flamingos on the property. :) The bed was pretty uncomfortable for us, but that is personal preference. The pull out is pretty small. I would say that it sleeps 4 is pushing it a little. We had a great stay though. The property is well maintained and up to date.

Cute Little Snack of a Cottage

The Funky Flamingo was just a precious and convenient spot to have fun and together time. With its proximity to the Outlet mall, we could spend a lot more time shopping than traveling. The cottage had everything we needed to make a nice caprese salad, and the extra snacks/drinks were such a special touch! The decor was just the right mix of whimsy, color and accent. I enjoyed discovering the flamingos on the dinnerware and in other places around the cottage. It was great to have modern appliances like the huge fridge, the W/D in the closet (with detergent!) and the dishwasher. We enjoyed movies, music, cooking and company. The only downside was the bedroom mattress, but we're old enough to know that every person has different taste in mattress firmness. This particular one was way too soft for us. The rest of the stay was on point, so I didn't feel a need to take away any review points. If your health requires a firm mattress, you may need to book a different place. Overall, a high-quality rental with a lot of perks! Very enjoyable.
