Welcome to our beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home nestled in the heart of Hillsboro, Oregon! Perfectly situated in a serene neighborhood, this charming residence offers a haven of comfort and relaxation for families and friends alike.

We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring pools or spas, or on the interior of the house.



PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $100 pet fee per pet with a maximum of $300 (3 pets). Although we are pet-friendly please note your pet must not be left unattended at the house without you present, even if in a crate/kennel. Failure to adhere to the house rules as it pertains to pets may result in cancellation of the booking with no refund. **

Absolutely perfect. Great place to get hang and relax and conveniently located to be in downtown Portland in 15 minutes. Dogs were easy and house was accommodating to them. Great experience all around.

The kitchen was equipped for cooking and the yard was pet friendly. Very nice quiet location but close to shops and restaurants. The one thing that was not great was that there was only 1 shower in master and one bathroom had bath only. This made it interesting with 4 adults, but we shared and made it work.

It was a very nice stay. Pet friendly. Good neighborhood. We had everything we needed, except we'd recommend having chairs with backs to use at the kitchen table for extended periods for time.

Perfect place to stay for a 3-day dog show just 5 minutes to the show grounds. The house was comfortable while being very dog friendly. I especially enjoyed the bedding on the cool nights.
This is our dog Sorcha who won 1 better than Best in Show because all the competition were Irish Wolfhounds on lucky Friday the 13th 2025.

Away from Modesto for the weekend

We brought our family up from Modesto, California, for a final vacation trip the weekend before the girls' school year commenced. The children were thrilled to visit their relatives and delighted in playing with the dogs at this pet-friendly residence, which provided toys and ample opportunities for outdoor play in the backyard. The house was immaculately clean and thoroughly equipped with essentials like clean dishes, coffee facilities, a waffle maker, and fresh towels. The kids adored it and were reluctant to leave when it was time to depart. The property owner was exceptionally communicative throughout our stay.

Great house/great location!

This house is in a great location with easy access to shopping, restaurants and a small park. Spacious with three good-sized bedrooms - the master is big with it's own on suite. Nice back yard which the puppies really enjoyed :) Quite neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We hosted two family dinners the week we were there and had everything we needed to cook and entertain. Super comfortable house to stay in. The check in was easy and communication with the property manager was timely. We will definitely stay here again!!

Quiet location offers a reprieve from today's hectic life.

The neighborhood is extremely quiet. What a fantastic environment to relax and unwind in. Our initial impression was that the home could use a little more TLC. The front door screen needs replacing, and the elongated toilet in the Master bath ran intermittently and should be addressed. The interior of the home was lovely. We did wish that the dining table had chairs instead of benches, but that is just our personal preference. For anyone with mobility issues, please note that there are two steps to enter through the front of the home and then once inside, there are steps into the family room. Staying in this home for a week, I felt that the owners had seriously thought about ways to make guests comfortable. This home would probably work well for families with children. The second bathroom had a tub (no shower) and a smaller rounded toilet, which might work better for younger children.

Comfortable and quiet

Pros: The rental was comfortable and as expected based on the pictures and description. We enjoyed playing catch in the backyard, relaxing in the recliners, and playing board games at the dining table. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and cookware. The neighborhood is quiet. There is a nice park with playground and trails within walking distance but be aware that there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood so you have to walk on the road to get there - that being said, the road is very wide and low-trafficked so I felt okay doing this with my older child. The outside temperature ranged from 50's to 80's while we were there and the inside temperature stayed pleasant throughout. The only surprise was when the landscaper jumped over the fence into the backyard unannounced. It would have been helpful to know the landscaper was coming, but we figured it out. A few minor things to note are that there is only one shower (the other bathroom has a bath only) and the shower floor does not have non-slip tread and is a bit slippery. Also, if you have a small dog there are some areas in the fence that allow a smaller dog to pass through (I know because my dog did this but thankfully came right back!). Overall, we would rent here again if the opportunity arises!

Charming property but cleaning was an issue. There were clumps of dog hair everywhere. Response when I discovered that we didn’t have the right remote for Roku didn’t take place until Sunday. The message we received was asking for information that was clear in the first one, and then I was asked to prove we were missing g a remote by taking a picture of the remote we had, which I found very condescending and disrespectful.

The kitchen was very well-appointed and stocked. We also appreciated the ability to check-in an hour early - since I had very elderly (90 - 94) people in our group. The backyard was lovely and relaxing.Communication issues: We needed to talk to a human before we booked to check on ADA accessibility - and we could only get a chat bot which could not answer our questions appropriately. A disabled person using a rollator walker found it EXTREMELY diffficult to enter the front door due to the swing of the screen door and the fact that the "stopper" on the screen door was broken. It took 3 of us to help her - the porch is only slightly wider than the screen door. We did not know that the living room was 2 steps down - luckily it had rails on one side. Whenever we asked questions, we only ever got automated answers. More disabled people are travelling and have special needs that they need to communicate. Questions after booking were also "answered" erroneously by a chatbot. For this price, there should be an ability to talk to a live person before/after booking.Primary bed VERY LUMPY, it needs to be replaced!Past rentals we've stayed in provided an iron/ironing board. People need to iron their clothes sometimes. We had to bring one all the way from California. If flying, this would not have worked and we may not have stayed here.The cleaning fee very high. It leans toward dishonest to list a rental fee that is almost as much, if not less, than the nightly cleaning fee.

Dog Show Stay

This is our 2nd year in a row that we have stayed at Jim & Shirley's Cuckoo's Nest. We attend a 3-day dog show which is 5 minutes away. Our dogs act like it is their 2nd home. It is plenty comfortable and perfect for us. An added bonus, some good friends rented the house directly across the street.
