Grizzly Den is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo that sleeps 6 and is located within Ptarmigan Village on Big Mountain in Whitefish. Enjoy access to community amenities, including a hot tub, indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach access on Whitefish Lake, and multiple walking trails. Guests will love this condo’s wood-burning fireplace and that historic downtown Whitefish is only a 15-minute drive away.

Cabin-like charm melds with modern convenience in this 2-story condo. Natural light filters through the large windows in the living area, with beautiful wood-accented ceiling and walls. Sink into the oversized armchair or comfortable couch and listen to the crackling fire while sipping a warm mug of cocoa and watching TV. Step onto the attached balcony to savor the mountain air and find the gas grill. The living area opens to the fully equipped kitchen, which includes a dining table for 4. After eating a delicious dinner, settle in for a round of cards!

On-site parking makes it easy to visit Whitefish Mountain Resort (only 3 miles away) or make the 1- hour drive to Glacier National Park.

Great family spot in Whitefish

Perfect spot for family of 5 in Whitefish! Great access to mountain, Glacier National Park & surrounding area. The laundry, full kitchen & 2 showers were what set this apart from a hotel/resort.

Great place to stay!

This was a nice place to stay with a family! Kids loved the activities provided! We really enjoyed the private beach! It was a good location for going to Glacier National Park. If planning on being in the park most of your stay I'd stay closer to the entrance. We planned on spending time on the mountain and going to Flathead lake so this was a wonderful spot to call home away from home.

Great Place

We enjoyed our stay at The Grizzly Den Condo in Ptarmigan Whitefish. We loved all the amenities: pools, hot tub, tennis courts, private beach and fishing pond. It was remote and lovely! :)

Unit was clean and affordable for the area. We didn't use the pool or other amenities, so we cannot comment on those. The front entry is congested, and the flooring gets very slick with snow/water tracked in. A larger entry rug or mat would be very useful to prevent slips and falls. Parking was challenging initially, as there are not designated spots for each unit. The upstairs shower was great, but the downstairs one did not have hot water. Plenty of linens and towels though! Coffee maker and other kitchen items were wonderful.

Nice condo in nice location

Place was easy to get to. They have a nice community indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. Kitchen is well furnished. Some people may have an issue getting up and down the narrow spiral staircase but it wasn't bad for us. We had to carry our small dogs up and down. We came in the winter and wouldn't mind coming back in the summer some other time to visit the lake and beach area.

Great place

The location within the resort was wonderful, super close to the pool, playground and pond. We went to Glacier National Park for two days and commuted both days. The distance was very reasonable. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped for us. Overall, great value and condo!

First Time in Whitefish

Our stay was very enjoyable, location was fantastic. Only one point, if you have a small child, you will want to make sure to get a gate for the spiral staircase. Otherwise, location was perfect.

Advertised incorrectly

We showed up on a Friday night ready to eat pizza and watch a weekend of sports , ski and sit in the hot tub and swim. There were 4 remotes for the tv, 1 without batteries and 1 that was chewed by a dog from previous renter or whenever. We could not figure out how to turn on tv. So we got it to turn on but it froze so we unplugged it to turn off before bed. We were unable to watch the Australian Tennis Open tournament that night. The property manger came while we were skiing the next day and fixed the tv. Thank you. We returned from the mountain ready to swim and sit in the hot tub . The pool was cold and the hot tub was filthy, filled with under age kids and luke warm. It was awful. We called the property manager and she told me to call the Ptarmigan manager. I didn't think it was our job to call them. The owner advertises the pool for swimming with warm temp water and a " hot tub". They both were un fit to swim or sit in and unclean and not a high temp for a hot tub. Then we woke up to a frozen shower Sunday. We left and went to skijorning and returned to hopefully sit in hot tub but it was closed and the pool was chilly and unswimmable. So the adults sat in the sauna. We asked for a small discount for all the miserable inconveniences and the owner refused. The main reason we rented there was for the pool and hot tub but that was not available as advertised. We will never rent from this property again. My advise is to have a greeting notebook with numbers and instructions for running the tv etc. and make sure the property manager and cleaning personnel check for all things in order including the tv remotes, running water in all showers, and make sure the pool and hot tub are in working order otherwise refunds should be given. Totally unprofessional and falsely advertised. I deserve a refund of some sorts.

Perfect hidden gem

Absolutely LOVED our stay. The cabin was just what we were looking for (log cabin in the woods, with amenities (ie. restaurants) close, a pool for our 3 kids, a fireplace to stay cozy, pet friendly and clean!). This unit was super close to the pool/hot tub building, a 5 minute drive to the ski hill and a 7 minute drive into town. Unit stairs to the bedrooms are steep as mentioned in other reviews but totally manageable. LOVED the bunk beds and double bed in the 1 bedroom for the kids. Hosts were easy to communicate with, unit was clean, and stocked with everything you'd need. I'd just suggest ordering wood before arrival, which I'm sure the hosts can assist with. Would stay again :)

Great Cozy Location

Stayed here for a week. Communication with the owners was great. The place is a bit smaller than it looks in pics and the spiral staircase is kind of tight but still a great place. Very clean, easy parking, a mile from the ski resort and quiet. Very cozy and inviting. We really enjoyed the real fireplace as well. It’s close to the pool and hot tub as well. No driving, just walk out the back door and 25 yards down the hill. Would definitely stay here again. Solid choice for sure.

Great location, not luxurious

This is a great location - less than 5 minute drive to the ski resort (which has fun summer activities), 10 minutes to downtown Whitefish and less than an hour to the west entrance to Glacier. The indoor pool, hot tub and tennis courts are a short walk. Our kids (teens) loved the pool. Communication with the manager was excellent. However, I had to ask basic questions that you would typically find in a packet of general information for renters. We never saw the outdoor pool and had no idea how to get to the lake access - easy info that should have been provided in that kind of packet. No information about local eateries, activities, no maps. The unit is described as "luxurious" which is a stretch. Small corner kitchen and a counter-height small table that has to be pushed away from the wall to comfortably seat more than three people. The downstairs is accessed by a tight spiral staircase - something to be aware of for young kids and anyone with accessibility concerns. The bedrooms are downstairs and are small and dark. The washer/dryer works but is hard to access - on an elevated platform squeezed behind a toilet. The portable AC in the living room worked well. Overall a pretty basic rental in a great location.

My family and I had a great experience staying here! It was a perfect location for exploring both Whitefish and close enough for a few days of driving into Glacier. The condo was clean and the kids loved the indoor pool and playground. Would recommend!!

Great place to stay!

We were so luck to book this spot on short notice - and to find a place pet friendly too! Communication was great, the spot is clean, well-stocked, and has a lovely patio. Would recommend staying here!

Awesome stay!

This was our fourth time staying at various condos at Ptarmigan Village. Although the other condos were good, this was by far our favorite! We had our two young boys with us. They enjoyed the proximity to the pool and tennis courts. The unit was quiet and only had a few steps to traverse from the parking lot (a giant plus with all the luggage we had!) The in-unit washer and dryer was a lifesaver as well. Communication with the property managers also A++. Will definitely stay here again!

Big Mountain

We liked that we were on the mountain, yet we were still close to town. The beach access was fun! Bring your paddleboard or kayak! Pool and hot tub were ok. Having bedrooms downstairs was a Godsend because the main level kitchen and living room got up to 85 degrees during the day. There is no a.c., so other than our box fan there was no reprieve from heat until late evening. (The sun didn't go down until after 10:00 pm.) It's a nice place for families for sure, but it's no fun to go out and enjoy Vaca in the heat, then come back to more heat in the condo. Last night the deck thermometer read 104 degrees.

Excellent location

This property was in an excellent location. Midway to the resort and to downtown Whitefish. Very clean. Manager was timely in getting back to me with answers to my questions. The only thing I recommend is a information sheet with codes to the internet, pool and lake access, as well as check out instructions.

Halfway up the mountain and half way to town.

Very comfortable unit. Close to the pool and playground. Spiral staircase was more difficult for older folks.

Perfect quiet location just above the spring snow line

We loved our stay but do have a few suggestions for future visitors. There is a beautiful spiral staircase in the house but is not child-friendly. The pool was indoor and awesome but other amenities such as the sauna and hot tub were often offline and not working. The sectional in the home was older and seemed dirty and could use a replacement. The last chair was a great local restaurant about 10 min down from the house, skiing was only 10 min away up big mountain. The location was in a wooded neighborhood and you often got to see deer and other wildlife up close. This would be a great place both summer and winter. I do recommend this listing for families with older 8 to 10 + years old.
