Great spot. The Honey Loft was a great place to relax. Beach access across the street. Quiet. OK, you could hear the waves breaking, but that was nice.

Stefan has done a great job renovating this property. It’s stylish with everything one needs. A lovely outlook from the garden over a gorgeous sandy beach. Town is a 10 minute drive away.

Wished we could have stayed longer than 1night. Stephan greeted us when we arrived and went through a few things. Gave us a great recommendation for dinner, and was very friendly. The property itself was amazing!! The view from the deck is breathtaking!! Highly recommend!!

The property is off the beaten track but only a short drive to Cafes and supermarket. Across the road from Ohope Beach with it's sands, dunes and sea only a 100m walk. Beautifully rustic self contained room, well appointed, clean and tidy for a restful stay. Perfect stopover or escape from the hustle and bustle.

What a cute, remote, little place this is! All you hear are the rumble of the waves and look out on the vista of the Bay of Plenty and Whakari/White Island. Highly recommend. If you're in need of supplies, Opotiki is a 10 minute drive away otherwise, enjoy the wilderness. Fully equipped unit to spend time away from it all.

Fabulous, looking forward to staying again

Absolutely fabulous. Stayed in well-equipped and beautiful Honey Loft apartment. Owner friendly and informative. Building in bushland setting with glimpses of sea from windows, very relaxing environment, and would certainly stay at Ohiwa Seascape Studios again.

Cool little getaway, host very welcoming. pretty close to amenities and a picturesque drive. the room wasn't what I expected as I didn't see this in photos when I booked. bit gutted as we thought we were getting a bath, room was pretty dated, TV was terrible. Room had basics for cooking and underfloor heating in bathroom was handy.

Inconvenience due to detached Bathroom

Please note the bathroom is not attached, it's a pain to get out of main room to go outside to use bathroom and toilet in Winters, not very convenient.

Listen to the waves crashing all night and the sounds of birds waking you in the morning in a peaceful and serene setting. What could be better? Add a morning beach walk with no one else there, excellent and welcoming host in Stéphane, and all other amenities needed like wifi, TV (not that we turned it on), and breakfast on a table overlooking the ocean. The honey loft room is comfortable, open, private, and has quaint features, but for us was perfect. Yes, the driveway is steep, and the loo is outside. Just like my homes back in rural NZ when growing up. Loved this place.

Host disputed the room rate agreed through Expedia , wanted additional payment Never had this issue with any other accommodation booked through Expedia Host had this booking from Dec 14 2023 and only when we arrived did it become an issue Driveway is extremely steep and difficult to reverse into , especially when two other cars already parked The loft bedroom has an exterior bathroom , which entails going outside across walkway in middle of night if needed

tranquil retreat

We stayed here one night, while the country was dealing with heavy rain and winds. So much so that the road in and out of the area was flooded, and we were forced to stay longer. (I will talk more about this later.) The room we stayed in was the 'loft' and is at the top nestled in amongst the bush / Pohutukawa trees. All windows look out to the bush with east facing windows also pockets of sand, sea/ beach. The bed was equal to a 5-star hotel. Sooo comfortable! The room was perfect for a night away with my wife. Small kitchen, fridge, everything one would need. Plenty of space, while still being small enough to remain romantic and cosy. So due to torrential rainfall, the coastal road flooded and we could not leave the area. The hosts offered for us to stay until the road opened (2 pm) at no charge which was hugely appreciated. We would certainly come back and recommend the studios. The only thing I can think of to feedback on was the tank water. It smelt a little salty when having a shower, but we never noticed the taste.. however, the storm was particularly rough and coastal areas around New Zealand flooded, so I assume this huge amount of salt spray was the cause. Like I said, this wasn't a problem, just feeding this back to the hosts. Thank you for the stay, we had an excellent time!

Fabulous Find at Ohiwa Beach

We stayed in the Honey Loft, a beautiful open space that was well appointed and tastefully furnished. We loved spending time on our private deck with views of the ocean. The beach was an easy walk across the street and one of the most private and glorious stretches of sand and azure water that I have ever seen. Our host, Stephan, was helpful and accommodating. It was a place I would go back to in a heartbeat.
