Beautiful Resort - Needs Some Amenities

I should say to start - the resort overall is beautiful and location wonderful. The unit we stayed in was spacious and clean; the restaurant is fantastic, both in terms of quality and appearance; the staff are friendly and helpful. However, there a couple issues that are related to climate and location that the resort needs to account for. Things get wet and stay wet - there was basically no means to dry our clothes. There are no dryers or fans in the units, so it is impossible to get rid of moisture, given the high humidity and nearly constant rain. The unit definitely smelled of mildew and, perhaps, mold - not the healthiest I am sure. At the very least, providing guests with strong fans I think is essential...

What an absolute dream of a space - inside and out! We loved every minute of our stay at Furnas Lake Forest Living. The location is a perfect home base for getting around the island, exploring hot springs, and hiking. There are several local hikes within walking distance or 5-10 mins driving. The decor is sleek and comfortable with lovely attention to detail. We also had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant which is a MUST-- the best food we had during our stay. We'd highly recommend Furnas and are eager to return as well.

Amazing family-run location in paradise at the Furnas lake and a short drive from Furnas village. The cottages are super, well furnished and with a very good bed. There is a small outdoor area to enjoy your morning coffee amidst hydrangeas! It is easy to keep distance and I recommend staying here even now with the ongoing Covid pandemic. Last but not least, the staff are very friendly.

It was lovely and quiet and the staff were helpful and polite. The owners and their dog were lovely too. The only comment I would make was that our son was sleeping on the sofa bed and there was no blinds to stop the light coming in and woke him up early in the mornings. Great ti be able to walk to the lake and be close to the village to enjoy the thermal spas. Extremely quiet and the ducks were great entertainment following us around for bread x

Green Island retreat

The property is beautiful, just outside of Furnas and across from the lake. The location is convenient toward the eastern side of the island, and it is still easy driving to Ponta Delgada and the western island for day trips. The villas are comfortable, but with dated interiors. This is the main opportunity for improving the overall experience. It has a rustic cabin / cottage feel, with some modern touches. The on-site restaurant is in a class of its own. The food is excellent, although pricey. Worthwhile for at least one meal, but you can get very good value at other nearby options or cooking in your villa if you prefer. An enjoyable experience in a unique place.

Can't fault a thing - everything was great! Surroundings were amazing, with hikes around the lake starting straight from the hotel. The bungalows were really lovely to stay in. The dinner in the restaurant was the best of our trip, and in our cabin we also had food cooked in the volcanic ground from 5 mins away from the hotel!

Secluded property pure peace and relaxation. Need a car but great base to explore the island. Lovely helpful staff but not intrusive. Self catering apartments but restaurant on site which provides breakfast and dinner at extra cost.

AMAZING place to stay!!

The Furnas Lake Villas were our favorite place we stayed while visiting Sao Miguel for our honeymoon! The grounds were gorgeous and quiet - but centrally located as well! The villas were spacious, clean and super lovely! We fell asleep listening to frogs delightfully chirping and woke up with the sound of birdsong! The breakfast was lovely (they have their own honey!) but dinner was BY FAR the BEST we had our whole trip!! I wish we had booked more nights here! We LOVED it! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

This is a beautiful property, and you can tell that the staff have put a lot of thought into every detail. I was traveling with my mom, and we loved our experience. The room was spacious (bedroom, bathroom, living room, small but nice kitchen, porch) and well-designed, the architecture very cool, the grounds lovely - a great place to come home to after a long day of adventures. The staff was warm, welcoming and helpful, giving us great tips on where to go and where to find things we needed. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was perfect - great variety of local, quality items. This hotel is about 40 minutes drive to Ponta Delgada and 20 minutes to Vila Franca do Campo, but the drive is beautiful. You are close to Furnas, which has the Terra Nostra botanical gardens and a bunch of restaurants, as well as the beach town of Ribeira Quenta, which we loved. I highly recommend this hotel!
