Very nice stay off the beaten path. The coyotes were singing to us several nights during our stay. Eagles, deer and turkeys were regular sights at the property. If you enjoy fishing the area has alot of lakes in just a short distance for Jeans cabin. My wife and I have stayed one week last year 2025 . This year we stayed for two weeks. The cabin has everything you would need to be self sufficient while your there. Grocery store is close and fishing bait is available in town just a short drive away in Dalton. Jean is a very nice and helpful host. I would definitely recommend a stay.
Thank you for a great stay at Ole's! We enjoyed the house & property. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Had some visits from Mr. Kitty that we all enjoyed.
Owner was very responsive and went the extra mile to make sure our accommodations were in place. House is so cute and great for a couples retreat in peaceful tranquility.
Hidden gem in Ottertail County! The farmhouse is charming and the grounds are beautiful filled with wildlife and butterflies. The host was amazing and always shared the bounty from her garden. There is plenty to do in the area or you can just sit and listen to the dozens of bird varieties that eat at the feeder or flutter around in one of her numerous gardens on the grounds. It’s a great area for hikers, bikers, bird watchers, or anyone that appreciates nature in full glory.
My cat LOKi and I had a very relaxing stay here. The location is secluded and full of wildlife. The cabin is adorable, the host has great taste and was very kind. The check in & out process was extremely easy.

Beautiful area to stay at. It doesn't have much for sleeping spots, as the beds are small so if you want more space to sleep on maybe bring an air mattress. Otherwise very nice overall.
Wonderful, quiet, peaceful, pet-friendly stay at this well maintained 1919 farmhouse, with access to nearby golf courses, 55-mile paved state trail, and countless lakes with public boat access.
The farm house was a great stay peaceful and full of wildlife to observe. Also in a good area for different places to explore hiking fishing. Thanks again Jean for the wonderful stay.
Loved everything about my stay. The peacefulness and charm of the farmhouse were exactly what I needed to truly unwind. I was able to read five books, catch up on some much-needed rest, and soak in the beauty all around me. The owner even checked in with me to see if I needed anything. Would stay here again.
Overall, a good experience. The beds were not the most comfortable, but everything else about the experience went well. It was cozy to disconnect from TV and such and just watch the animals and nature around us. We are hoping to come back when the snow is gone, the lake is open and the weather's warmer.
What a great find! This is a rustic farmhouse, but nicely stocked. The property is quite private and has a short walk to the lake. Jean was wonderful as she told us the history of the property and the surrounding land. We would definitely go back.
Wonderful older farmhouse in a delightfully quiet and peaceful setting. Just what we were looking for! The interior has been decorated with retro looking furniture and appliances to give the look of an house from olden times and yet provide you with convieniences of a modern home! Also includes a stacked washer and dryer which is installed in a closet with a door for complete accessability and yet is out of sight to manitain the feel of the house. Finally the bathroom is super! completely modern with a great shower. The host was great to work with and was concerned that we have a good stay at the location. We hope to go back again!!
Beautiful location .Very quite and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. The wife was a little uncomfortable with no window sheers or curtains. The bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable. My wife and I are used to a more supportive sleep. We were impressed with the kitchen, the cabinets and appliances were reminiscent of an earlier time. Reminded me of when I was a kid and went to my Grandparents for visits or for holiday get-togethers .The wood floors are beautiful and as a retired carpenter I appreciate the craftsmanship. I would recommend a stay here to anybody. If your interested in fishing you'll love the location here it's close to lots of lakes.
We loved it! Very peaceful, beautiful setting. Better than pictured. I would love to go back. You get a lot of privacy! You can't see the owner's property and the cornfield and soybean field are obscured by trees and brush. It's a bit of walk to access the water, behind the owner's home. You probably won't mind this unless you have any pain with walking, which I currently do, but it was too chilly and windy during our stay so we didn't want to do any water activities anyways. My one issue was it was difficult to get comfortable laying on the beds. They were too hard. Normally I love a mattress on the firm side to keep my spine in line but I do need some softness because I am a side sleeper. If you have any back or hip issues, consider bringing a mattress topper with you.
Great stay! I wish I had turned the ventilation system on sooner, that was really helpful to make the place more comfortable. The toilet seat is broken and that made it feel a little unsteady. Otherwise, the place was very charming and as described in the listing. Jean was a great host!
Our visit to Ole’s farm house was a very nice getaway to enjoy Minnesota country and lake life. The property is exactly as depicted in the photos and descriptions- updated, very clean, and nicely decorated. Kitchen is well stocked with all utensils, pots and pans, etc. The yard around the house is a very pleasant place to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon conversation, evening fires and generally take in the peaceful serenity. There is a five minute walk on the property to beautiful lake. Note: you’ll need to bring some camp chairs to enjoy the yard and dock. We took sunset walks on the adjacent gravel road amidst tall corn and occasionally encountered deer roaming the area. Wonderful host! Great communication. Easy check-in.
