An Incredible view of Thunderhead Mountain and The Great Smoky Mountains, this 2400sq. ft. cabin is ideal for family getaways. Only minutes from Pigeon Forge and Dollywood Theme Park as well as beautiful Cades Cove and Gatlinburg. Enjoy the quiet side of the Smokies in Townsend, Tennessee just off Wears Valley Road. With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths it's spacious enough for 10 people. Amenities include hot tub, pool table, seasonal gas fireplace, grill, patio, WiFi, and large deck with breathtaking panoramic views.This January (2024) we are making improvements!! A new hot tub, a new deck to enjoy the amazing views, and a new HVAC system upstairs just to name a few!

This is a quiet neighborhood with permanent neighbors on either side. Please be neighborly and observe quiet hours after 10pm!

We also ask that guests not move or sit on the pool table or sit on the hot tub cover. Please don't allow anyone to play on the fence out front.

Security cameras monitor the driveway and walkway up to the cabin and only records when it detects motion. There are NO cameras in the cabin.

Doug was easy to work with, check in and out was simple as could be. Cabin is great, no complaints. View of the mountains slightly diminished vs what some photos show - this is due to some trees/vegetation growing along the property line - but still gorgeous and relaxing.

We had a wonderful time. Everything was as it is advertised. The view was fantastic, the area quiet, the communication with our host was great. We will definitely try to stay there again. I think what we loved most was the deck. It was safe for little ones and offered a place to just relax and enjoy the view. We even met a neighbor who showed us a video of a black bear sighting the day before next to his house. So bring your bear spray. The location was also a wonderful advantage. Just far up the mountain enough to experience a Mountain View, yet close enough to town to enjoy a walk on the path, coffee at coffee shops, the grocery store...you get the picture. We highly recommend Thunderhead Mountain Expanse for your next visit to the Townsend area.

We enjoyed our Mother Daughter’s weekend this weekend. The hosts were easily accessible and accommodating. Their homes is absolutely perfect, clean, spacious and decorated so cute. If we ever return to Townsend, this will be our first pick.

Perfect for a quiet getaway in the Smokies. Plenty of space. Updated and clean, with comfortable beds and close to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Highly recommend the Cades Cove scenic drive. Communication with the host was practically immediate for questions. You can’t go wrong here!

Great cabin and very close to the Cades Cove part of the Smoky Mountain National Park. No noise, no real traffic headaches. A great spot if you do not want to be near Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Host did an excellent job communicating! Very clean cabin with a great view of the mountains. Great restaurants nearby such as Elvira's and Burger Master, which both are a MUST. Definitely plan to stay here again.

Our stay was amazing!! The view from the deck was incredible. Our family trip consisted of my parents, my husband,I and teen kids, and my brother’s family (younger kids)…10 people in all. There was space for everyone to be together or apart. My kids enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and checkers. My niece was in love with the loft! The drive up to the cabin is steep with a lot of switchbacks but it is paved so it wasn’t bad.

We always stay on the Townsend/ Wears Valley side of the Smokies -aka- the Peaceful Side-, and this visit was one of the best ever! This home had a fantastic view of the fall foliage, and we were able to enjoy it from a porch swing and rocking chairs on the deck -- stunning! We brought our son and several friends who are in college at UTK, and they loved having the bottom floor to themselves -- I'm pretty sure they spent at least 12 hours playing pool! We otherwise watched TV, played games, hung out in the hot tub, cooked some meals, and had great family/ friend time. The beds were comfortable, and the property manager was immediately receptive to any questions. The teens went to Dollywood and the rest of us enjoyed the quiet of the mountains. This area truly has something for everyone, and we will definitely be back to this cabin!

Beautiful

Had a wonderful time in this beautiful cabin in the mountains above Townsend. Lots of relaxing on the deck, in the hot tub and playing pool. Easy access to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Saw a bear in the yard on our first day. Check in was very easy and the owner always responded quickly to every inquiry we had.

Great stay

We had a 2 night family getaway. Our hosts were great about letting us check in early and communicated well overall, quickly getting back to us with any questions. We loved sitting in the rockers on the back porch enjoying the beautiful mountain views. Hopefully we’ll return!

Awesome View and Great Location

My husband and I had a wonderful stay with my sons, daughters in law and grandchildren! We had a great time hiking. We even got to watch it snow. Great view of the mountains. We will definitely be back! Doug is a great host!

It doesn’t get any better than this!

We travel to the beautiful Smoky Mountains almost every year, and have stayed in MANY cabins. Hands down, this was the best one! House was immaculately clean and offers all of the amenities that we needed. Breathtaking views from the back porch, with a lot of up close bear viewings. We even had a sweet, friendly little raccoon visit us on our last evening on the deck. If you’re looking for a great place to stay, in the most gorgeous place on this earth, this is it!!! We WILL be staying here again!!!

3 generations in the Smokies

This is our second time staying in this cabin and we hope to return as long as our family fits! It’s so comfortable and well stocked. This is our favorite quiet area of the Smokies. We especially love the new porch and the new appliances are great. The furniture is clean and comfortable. The grandkids enjoyed the games and books and asked to return before we pulled out of the driveway.

I grew up in East Tennessee and Shannon is from Hugo, Oklahoma. We live in Nashville, Tennessee and have four kids (five) ages 23, 21, and twin 10 year olds, plus Smoky, our 5 year old beagle. We bought this property in February of 2018, and it has been our dream to own a cabin in the mountains! We enjoy hiking, scuba diving, and boating. We love the many hiking trails that’s just a short drive from the cabin and are constantly checking each one off our list but have many more to go. This place is very special to us and we hope you find it special too!

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in the United States. The Park has more than 800 square miles of hiking trails across North Carolina and Tennessee. We are in Townsend, Tennessee, the quiet side of the Smokies. Townsend has some fantastic yet quaint restaurants and shops, a grocery store, as well as an outdoor center that has bikes, paddle boards, rafting, and outdoor gear. We are just minutes from Dollywood Theme Park and the many shops and eateries of Pigeon Forge. If your looking for putt putt golf, go carts, or abundant shopping, Pigeon Forge has it all! If you like something a little quieter, the 20 mile drive along the Little River to Gatlinburg contains some of the most spectacular scenery in the southeastern United States. A short 13 mile drive is Cades Cove, the single most popular destination in The Park. Popular for its scenic mountain views, preserved homesteads of Appalachian life, and abundant display of wildlife. Looking due south off the deck are breathtaking views of the 5,527 foot peak of Thunderhead Mountain which marks the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. Along its summit is the iconic Appalachian Trail, one of the many hiking trails easily accessible from the cabin. We are centrally and conveniently located to all The Great Smoky Mountains have to offer!
