On June 30, three days before the rental began, I learned internal flooding might have damaged the condo. Real Joy told me there was no damage. On July 3, the day our stay began, and while we were en route, a Real Joy message said, "On June 30, the unit experienced a significant water leak," and industrial drying equipment would likely be in the unit. We had no option but to proceed. We found a unit that was not fit to rent. If I'd been told the truth three days earlier, we'd have found another rental. I have photos. Five industrial blowers were in the hallway, making noise and blowing hot air, with cords draped dangerously on the floor and across doorways. The noise prohibited normal conversation in the hall, kitchen, and living area. A bathroom door was partly blocked by a de-humidifier, with cord draped unsafely across the bathroom floor and a drain hose in the bathroom sink. On Monday, July 6, at 10:30 AM, the equipment was removed. While the stay thereafter was excellent, it was unsatisfactory over half the time my family was there.I asked Real Joy to refund 3,000, the approximate rent I paid for the time the equipment operated. They gave me 500. Real Joy Vacations lied to me, did not tell us the truth until it was to late to pursue other options, and then did not treat us fairly. Real Joy Vacations cares a lot about money. They care very little about people.
