I did not see the cabin itself, so this review is strictly regarding the access route to the property. The host was responsive during our arrival and cooperative in processing a major refund, but future travelers need acute awareness about this road to ensure their safety.The last 2 miles of the drive to the cabin consists of switchbacks on unpaved, loose gravel with sustained incline grades reaching between 12% and 18%. For context, standard highway grades rarely exceed 6%.We attempted the climb in our AWD SUV. Due to the extreme steepness, our vehicle lost traction and spun out on a narrow switchback. Beware rainfall can result in a severe hazard. For us, the situation became dangerous enough that local emergency services had to be dispatched to rescue our vehicle and physically escort us down the mountain in the dark. To the host’s credit, she was on the phone with us when the incident occurred and quickly processed a refund for the booking upon request. However, despite being actively on the phone with us while we were trapped, she did not follow up afterward to check on our safety or confirm we made it off the mountain securely.If you stay here, treat a true, high-clearance 4WD vehicle as an absolute requirement, and completely avoid arriving after dark or during any amount of rainfall.
