The house was neat and clean, included anything you might need.It was light and airy and had a great view of the bay.The beds were quite comfortable.The showers had plenty of hot water for a part of 4.Our pet was quite comfortable as well.We rented the house in mid September and ran the heat the first night. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the furnace noise, which was so loud and rumbled like a train coming thru. We kept the unit 'off' for the remainder of the stay and were comfortable.This was our first trip to Birch Bay. I was disappointed that we were so close the the main road which was really busy and had to be crossed in order to get to the short 'beach'. There was really no way to go for a walk, or walk the dog. We had a full size pickup and it was a challenge to get it turned around to safely enter the roadway in the area between the house and the road. However, this is a good choice if you plan to venture out and explore the area by car, but not plan to spend your time on a beach.

The location and view of the house are wonderful. Overall, we had a nice trip, and I think the listing is accurate. The host's response time to messages was great. The kitchen is very well equipped. The only thing we could never locate was cutting boards. There was plenty of silverware, but some smaller salad forks and spoons for kids would be a nice addition.  The first evening when we were cleaning up dinner, we discovered the dishwasher was broken. The host responded quickly, and a repairman stopped by the following day. Unfortunately, a part had to be ordered so we were out of luck and had to hand wash dishes the entire trip. We discovered that some of the dishes and mugs in the cabinets still contained residue and needed to be washed before use, guessing a victim of the broken dishwasher that went unnoticed. The coffee maker also required a deep clean before use.The king bed was comfortable, but the 2 queen beds were very uncomfortable. Each bedroom had a tower fan in the closet, and there were plenty of bath towels, which was much appreciated. Our son was excited for the jet bathtub. Guessing it likely doesn't get used too often, we ran the jets 3-4 separate times to try to clean it out, unsuccessfully. No matter what we did, the jets continued to spit out gunk once turned on. I would rent from this host again if they offered a different, more updated house.

This poperty was great for our large family gathering and wedding in Ferndale. Ample parking, great amenities and convenient to many attractions. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Property was clean and had a great view. There was an additional chair in the living room than appeared in the pictures, so we could spread out. We didn't do much cooking, but the kitchen seemed well equipped. We spent a lot of time on the deck.

I hope this review will cover the upgraded property we got due to an unexpected water heater malfunction at the property I reserved in Birch Bay. The house was perfect for my family's gatherings to celebrate my father's 90th birthday. It was very nice that my parents could use the main floor bedroom/bathroom and not need to use the stairs for the lower and upper levels of the house. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, glassware and a nice BBQ for our three big meals we prepared with the eight of us. My only critisism was we wished we had more kitchen towels and 409 or similar product to wipe things in the kitchen. The host was very communicative throughout our stay. It was a lovely trip!!

This home has a nice layout and good open concept. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. The view is pretty and the location is great. Parking was super tight. I will say the home has very strong odors. If you are sensitive to fragrance it is pretty overwhelming, it smelled very strongly of carpet deoderizer. There is also a musty smell coming from the laundry room. If you're not sensitive to odors, this is a decent place to stay.

Beautiful location!!! We stayed here on a trip for our daughters state gymnastics competition and couldnt have been happier! Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked, and was plenty of room for 4 adults, 2 kids, and our boxer dog. The scenery out the front windows was the best part. We all watched the ducks, bald eagles, a herons every morning and even got to spot a golden eagle. Also an easy walk to local eateries! Perfect vacation spot and not all touristy(at least when we visited in march)

The house was perfectly located across the street from the beach with beautiful views. Because of the storms lately though, it wasn’t a very clean beach space to enjoy a fire. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. The furniture is really dated though.

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the large size of the accommodation and the beds were also comfortable. My son took one for the team ans slept on the pull out couch. Also enjoyed the deck in the late evening.A couple of things to note. There are very basic kitchen amenities, and no salt, pepper, or other condiments and spices. A basic add that visitors appreciate. Also, for this who visit on summertime. With the exception of a few fans and opening every single window, there is no other way to cool down as gets unbearably hot inside. The other issue is in summer, Birch Bay itself gets a VERY strong sulfur odor when the tide is low due to lack of rain decaying organic matter. This is seasonal, so be aware when staying in July-Sept. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The view was lovely. The unit was clean and well equipped for the most part but considering with taxes, pet fee, exchange I paid 700 Cad a night I wouldn't recommend it. The beach was full of gross seaweed and algae and super muddy...not sandy. You really couldn't swim. Also the grill was so old and rusty we couldnt use it. Overall a disappointment about Birch Bay more than the unit itself.

I am so sorry that your stay was not what you had hoped for. I am glad the property was satisfactory for your stay. Birch Bay is a very popular family destination but there is sea grass in the water and it is not a sandy beach for sure. The tide flats are nice to walk out on and clam dig, look for sand dollars or beach comb but swimming in sea grass takes getting used to.

Great location by the beach

We liked our K bed and the master shower. Overall everything was comfortable, in good shape, and had what we needed, except for a few things. Parking and getting in and out of the property is a little tricky, and there are stairs up to the front door, so it's not handicap accessible particularly.

Lots of potential

The house is older, as is the furniture. Unfortunately, the queen bed was very uncomfortable as another reviewer had previously noted, but I let the owners know and they said they would make sure to switch it out. Our group was staying 2 nights and we felt like this was a reason for why it maybe wasnt stocked very well. However, when I contacted the host, they did bring several items very quickly to try and make our stay better, and we appreciated the effort.

Just what it says on the tin

Lovely short stay at Birch Bay. Property was surprisingly spacious and the kitchen was well equipped for a small family reunion. Location was windswept (it was early March, so unsurprising!). Beds were very comfy. House warmed up quickly when the furnace was put on, although we had to turn it off overnight as we found it a little noisy, but that was our personal preference. Overall, would definitely stay again. Great property.
