What a discouraging review. Fortunately we have 135 other reviews that are far more positive. Many mention how clean our house was. We've had these cleaners for years and they do an excellent job, as many reviewers have written. In relation to the stink bugs, many rural houses have them. They emerge when the weather gets warm. Our exterminator has no solution for them. This year was the worst we've seen. Fortunately they disappear quickly. We told the renter that she could buy a hand vacuum and we would reimburse her, but she didn't get the message we sent through Vrbo. In relation to the washer leak, we had no idea. We certainly would not defer fixing a leak. It has been fixed. It was apparently caused by the extremely cold winter. Our dock was also a casualty of this winter, as were dozens of docks on Keuka, which froze for the first time in at least two decades. It has also been repaired. This renter was told that our dock had been damaged and that we used ties to secure it while we waited for it to be fixed. The door handle has also been fixed. A set screw came loose. The door is old but the handle is new.

Our house is indeed older: it was one of the first houses built on the East Side of Keuka, perhaps as early as the 1840s. We've tried to update it while maintaining its great history. We've added two bathrooms and a laundry room, remodeled the kitchen, rebuilt the porch, installed new windows, replaced the ancient plaster and done major infrastructure work to keep it in good shape for another century. We haven't changed the location, which is indeed good!
