Our second stay at this lovely cabin, we were just as impressed as last time. The area is beautiful, and the house itself is a great choice, whether you’re looking for a quiet retreat or a base for other activities in the area.

The Stone Cottage is at the top of my VRBO rentals. Located on a secluded but not difficult to navigate dirt road, it is tucked away amongst the trees. It is very quiet with no visible neighbors. In the winter there is the beautiful lake just outside the door. During the fall there is a wide open meadow. Take chairs down to the lake edge for a beautiful view of Mt Shasta. The interior is beautiful and cozy with a giant fireplace. Everything you need is there, from a stocked kitchen to open walk in shower and large soaking tub. The real gem though is all the windows, all the better to gaze out at the natural surroundings. I have stayed several times and I hope to again many more times. The host is friendly and responsive and she makes everything easy and worry free.

Sylvia’s house was fantastic, and she is an excellent host! Not only was Sylvia responsive, she was willing to go above and beyond to help me make my trip special. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat in Mt. Shasta this is the place to book!

The home and grounds exceeded the pics and description. Such a beautiful and peaceful place to spend a few days. Morning coffee and afternoon wine on the back deck was the best! We had a variety of visitors, including deer, jack rabbit, stellar jays. Even great blue heron in the distance. There is a sweet trail right out the back of the house if you don’t want to drive but want to stretch your legs. The home is so lovely and comfortable, loved the fireplace! The area is great, super close to McCloud and Mt Shasta for hiking/shopping, the house is easy to find. I can’t wait to go back. Sylvia is a great communicator, for any questions you may have.Renter Tips: it is very dark at night, I was happy I brought a few nightlights so I didn’t freak out in the middle of the night.

Sylvia was a pleasure to communicate with and made all aspects of enjoying her home easy.The house is in a beautiful setting in the woods with wildlife, water views and quiet.Everything we needed was there. We cooked meals and lacked nothing to do so. Be prepared for a little dust on your car and anything else you leave outside, as the road leading to the house is gravel. Not a big deal, just needed to clean the car windows a few times.

We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin style home in the woods on a pretty little lake. It was August, so the lake was low, but we still enjoyed watching all the waterfowl and the view from the back deck was very scenic. Great star gazing at night. The home is comfortable, great bed, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer. Would work well for a small family or two couples. Location in proximity to parks and hiking and Mount Shasta town was very convenient. Sylvia was awesome to work with!

This was our second stay at this beautiful property. The setting is very peaceful and has a great view of birds and other wildlife. The location is convenient to many great hiking trails. We hope to stay here again soon.

We loved our stay! Sylvia was so easy to work with, and the house was great! It has everything we needed for a perfect week in the mountains. We would definitely rent again. PS. The mattress is great! Not always the case in rentals.

Gorgeous - even in late summer there was still enough lake to paddle / canoe. As always love the central location and total privacy and listening to the geese and wind in the pines.

I have stayed at MANY temporary homes through VRBO and AirBNB. Our stay at the Lakeside Stone Cottage is BY FAR my favorite! My family of four stayed in the cottage for four nights. The home was charming and clean. It had everything we needed to cook meals. The beds were comfortable. The washer and dryer worked well. What set this place apart was the host and the location. Our host was extremely communicative. She was responsive to every query we had. She helped us find hikes in the area. The location is just as described, but even better. It is so close to Mount Shasta, hiking, swimming, waterfalls, and charming towns. The home itself is secluded and quiet. Sitting on the back porch, you hear nature! You also see deer, squirrels, spoonbills, rabbits, ducks, and birds! At night, you can see bats keeping the insect population in check. The lake is beautiful to look at all day long. The hosts provided a canoe and a paddleboard. My family spent an entire day on the lake. We had the WHOLE LAKE to ourselves, minus seeing one family of four that kayaked by and fished far away from us for a short period of time. This cabin was perfect for us! I have already recommended it to all my friends. Book this place!! You will not regret it!!

We had a great stay! The house was very cozy and so much privacy. Loved seeing all the deer, birds and the lake. The lake was shallow and not to swim in but we enjoyed the canoe a d walks near the water to look for frogs. The drive in was dusty and bumpy but not terrible. The house was very clean and had everything we needed to feel right at home. We will be back to visit!

This is just a little gem of a place. If you like a little quite and solitude, and having a little reservoir almost all to yourself where you can watch the wildlife go by, this is your place! We used it as a base for hiking with our dogs in the area and it was perfectly pet friendly. I think our dogs even liked it better than home. They mostly enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening with us while we had a post-hike cocktail and charcuterie, watching the various wildlife come in and out of the back yard. The view is gorgeous. I could sit there for hours with a good book and a pair of binoculars! So conveniently located to great hiking trails it made for the perfect basecamp for our little doggie adventures. We are already contemplating a return visit to check it out in the fall or spring!

The Stone Cottage was everything we hoped it would be! The setting was peaceful, private, and serene. We stayed in June 2026 and the reservoir was full which added to our enjoyment.The place was clean and all of the furnishings and layout were as described in the property details. Sylvia was a wonderful host and quickly answered questions as they arose. She even let us borrow her canoe which we used to take sunset tours around the lake. We swam in the lake daily, enjoyed strolling around the 6 acres, and were captivated by the wildlife which is abundant! We enjoyed a mama deer and her two fawns grazing in the yard every day.Check in and check out we’re probably the easiest we’ve had at any rental we’ve stayed in.Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stay in the Stone Cottage!

Very good experience. Everything was clean and well kept. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. The owner was easy to get ahold of. The dogs had a great time. The property is a lot closer to the road then I realized but there were only probably 3-4 cars an hour driving by. Most drive slow so no real danger to the dogs as long as you keep an eye out. Overall it was beautiful and a great get away from our busy lives.

Overall the property was great and charming. We must have missed that it was off a dirt road, however very well maintained. Loved the property as it had all we needed. You can’t enter the water from the property, it’s just down the road.

We had an amazing 6 days here! It was quiet, clean, well equipped and there was plenty of yard space for my dogs. It rained a lot of the time we were there but we enjoyed sitting inside with the fireplace going and watching the wildlife. It was the little details that gave it a very cozy feel from the clouds painted on the bedroom ceiling to all the unique light fixtures and lamp shades. We would definitely stay again.

Sylvia was a wonderfully attentive host - it was easy to communicate with her and she made sure we had no problem arriving in the snow. The property was clean and well maintained. The views were stunning - it was a winter wonderland when we stayed!
