The cottage is charming and in a quiet location, but handy to Sturgeon Bay. The cottage is self contained and decorated appropriately. Our host Russ introduced himself and he and wife Stacy were available for questions when needed. He explained that the cottage was originally constructed in 1882 by his great grandfather, deconstructed and rebuilt at the current location. We had fires in the fireplace during our stay, the first was already laid out for us. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

This was such a fun little cabin to stay at. My husband and I stayed here with our two children, ages 14 and 12. It fit all of us nicely. It is small and cozy, but accommodating, it felt like just the right size for a long weekend. Very close to town and all the amenities but you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. The cabin was super cute, very clean and comfortable. The hosts were great, very kind couple. I would definitely stay at their property again.

The cabin and all its accommodations were so beautiful, warm, and comfortable. The attention and preservation of the log cabin is nothing short of amazing. We really enjoyed our stay so much that we are already making plans for the next time!

Everything described in the post for this property is very accurate, the property was very clean, host was great, and location is very easy to access all parts of the county. Really enjoyed this entire property and process.

This inviting and very cozy cabin was a wonderful place to celebrate our 40th anniversary and spend our very first trip to Door County. The history and family ties to this place was very interesting to hear about and such a remarkable renovation! The hosts are awesome, friendly and accommodating, we loved our stay here and will be back,very clean and well kept up! Dixie was a fun little visitor as well

Wonderful cabin! Very clean and cozy. Hosts were wonderful, along with their dog Dixie. Loved the location as just outside of Sturgeon Bay, but quick 5-6 minutes and in town. Overall great place, clean, cozy and very comfortable. Would stay again.

Such a wonderful property! Spotlessly clean and full of thoughtful details. We slept great and felt so comfortable in the cabin. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch to drink our coffee. Hosts are friendly and responsive. We would absolutely stay here again! Only tip is if you have trouble with stairs this might not be a good place for you because the bedroom is upstairs, but this was not a problem for us. We absolutely loved our stay at the Homestead!

There are so many things I could rave about because this was the perfect base for our exploration of Door County. The cabin is conveniently located to locations out-of-towners would want to visit while allowing a private feel out of the fray of some of the in-town accommodations. The cabin is gorgeously restored, thoughtfully furnished, and sparkling clean. The bed was very comfortable, and there was an abundance of towels, wash cloths, and hot water. Those may seem like odd things to include in a review, but they are very much things you notice if they are not present in a rental. Their presence shows how much attention to detail is paid to making the homestead welcoming to visitors, and we'd recommend it to anyone!

This is an authentic restored log cabin, but it has been remodeled inside with modern conveniences. Everything about our stay was perfect. It was very clean. The kitchen and baths were equipped with everything we needed. The 2 window air conditioners kept it comfortable even in a July 95 degree heat wave. Russ has a fascinating story about the history and restoration of the cabin.

Russ was very welcoming! The cabin was spotless and super clean when we arrived. It’s such a special little cabin with a lot of cozy touches that add to the overall experience. We looked forward to seeing Dixie run over and greet us anytime we were coming or going from the property. We would definitely recommend this property and look forward to coming back soon! Thank you!

The cabin was exceptionally clean. Our host was so kind and welcoming. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and fresh picked strawberries. The kitchen was equipped with everything you would need and more. Our fire place was clean although we did not use it everything was provided. If you are looking for an authentic cabin feel this is the place for you.

Second time in Door County. First time at the log cabin. Didn’t have any special requests. Just needing a place to stay for 2 nights for our anniversary. The communication through messaging was flawless. The cabin itself was cleaner than pretty much any hotel I have stayed at. Plenty of amenities such as ability to have a fire in the fireplace or dishes to use if needed. However, we spent most of our time out exploring. Bed was comfortable. Shower was easily accessible and clean. We slept well. We never had any personal contact with the owners, but you could tell the take pride in their property. I can’t think of anything negative to say, but a word of caution- the stairs to the upstairs are a little awkward- plenty safe with the railings, just use a little caution. Wonderful stay overall. Maximum stars and ratings I can give. Don’t hesitate to stay here.

This was my 2nd stay at this cozy cabin. It's so clean and comfortable, and the setting is extremely peaceful and relaxing. I am looking forward to returning again in the future!
