The Cottage on the Bluff is situated in a beautiful setting. The lake is magnificent, and while there are neighboring properties, the woods along the front and side of the cottage provide that coveted woods water setting that we just love. If the photos drew you to this property, you won't be disappointed. It's every bit as beautiful in person. One thing to pay close attention to is the Wi‑Fi description in the listing. The internet relies on cell towers, and during our stay it was completely unavailable for the first 24 hours. Because of the remote location, when the Wi‑Fi wasn't working, our cell phones weren't either. Verizon service was limited to SOS mode, so we had to walk to the road to send texts and check in with family. Streaming TV, music, and other internet-based activities were not possible during that time. After the first day, the connection became intermittent. It wasn't particularly strong, but it was sufficient for texting, checking email, listening to music, and occasionally streaming live sports. The first-day outage may have been an isolated issue, but it's worth understanding that connectivity can be not just intermittent or fading in and out, but completely unavailable for long stretches of time. Other things to note before you book, food storage is limited and there is no washer/dryer. Towels are provided, but bring plenty for longer stays. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the lake.
