Lovely Waterfront Cottage, Dog friendly, 4 miles from Town and Ocean

Bluebell cottage is full of Mid-Century rustic Maine charm, artfully decorated! There are 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, great for families and dog friendly. The vaulted ceiling living room is open to the fully stocked kitchen. The newly renovated enclosed porch has 6 large picture windows overlooking the pond, a twin bed for napping and wicker seating for lounging. Step into Maine with this private home nestled in the poetic mid-coast woodland, on one of the most beautiful and inviting ponds. The kitchen, dining, living and main bedroom have majestic water views. The bedrooms have new pine floors, and fresh bright and cheerful decor to lift your spirits. You can listen for loon calls in the morning, go fishing from the private dock or take a paddle board out to the island. Kayak or canoe around the 53 acre pond. The water warms up nicely for swimming. The deck also overlooks the pond, great for a peaceful cup of coffee in the morning, with a propane grill, wood fired grill and dining area for 6 guests. Come enjoy s'mores over the fire pit to welcome the evening! The mountain behind the cottage has endless hiking trails, including the ski slopes with ocean views. Camden and Rockport harbors are a 10 minute drive away.

Notes:
Duration: Bluebell Cottage is available for 6 night minimum stay, with Saturday or Sunday check in and Friday or Saturday check out. Feel free to ask for an exception. We are happy to accommodate, if there is availability.

Children: Children are welcome, however, the cottage isn't baby or child proof. The cabinets don't have locks and there is no fence around the pond.

Accessibility: The walkway to the cottage from the parking area is pea stone gravel and there are 7 steps. You can roll your luggage over the lawn, but will need to carry your luggage for approximately 20 feet and over the steps. The bank of the pond is approximately 1.5 feet, if you want to step down onto the small gravel beach, instead of using the swim ladder on the dock. The path to the dock is also uneven ground. Please be careful, especially when it is wet out. No diving from the dock.

Wonderful

We could not have asked for a better location for our vacation! Heather’s lovely house is located on a beautiful property, every possible amenity we needed was available and in good condition. Heather was responsive, friendly and helpful when we had questions. Proximity to Camden, Rockport, Rockland was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and fire pit. We will be back!

Beautiful, cozy cottage on peaceful Hosmer Pond

Heather’s Bluebell Cottage was an awesome find. It was very comfortable, cozy with everything you’d need or want. Gorgeous view of the pond. We spent a lot of time on the deck relaxing and enjoying the view. Loved watching and listening to the loons. Beds were very comfortable. It is a 7 minute drive to Camden. Would definitely return.

Perfect Again

This was our second summer at Bluebell Cottage, and it was a wonderful week again. The weather, the loons, the ambiance—all couldn’t have been better! Heather’s love for her cottage — from the interior to the beautiful flowers across the grounds — made our visit truly memorable. We certainly hope to return next summer!

Another fantastic stay!

This was my family’s second annual stay at Bluebell Cottage. Every bit as special as the first. We love the coziness and personal touches all around the cottage, as well as the beautiful view of Hosmer Pond. The hospitality of Heather is unparalleled! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. Our whole family was able to relax and unwind, including the family dog :) We look forward to returning next year!

On Golden Pond

We had a super time at Heather’s home. She went above and beyond to make us (and our pups) feel comfortable and enjoy our vacation. Beautiful setting with a cozy home that offers many options to relax and appreciate the outdoors! We would love to go again.

Peaceful Hosmer Pond

Our family had a nice stay on Hosmer Pond. The house was clean and very well appointed. It was refreshing not to have to run to store for every spice or first aid need. And having the canoe, kayaks and paddle boards on property is a huge bonus. Heather was very responsive to our questions and offered helpful suggestions. Other than some cars passing on other side of pond, it’s very quiet. Not criticisms but just some notes for prospective renters: there is a drop off from property to pond of a couple feet. This really only mattered to our 11 year old hound who could not find access to wade or swim (he’s too old to jump off dock). Also, if you like sun, the dock only catches it from sunrise to 8 AM-ish (at least in late August). The property gets its share of sunshine, it’s just the dock that is shady, which may be preferable to some. Also, certainly a seasonal issue, but watch out for aggressive bees. My 23 year old got stung our 2nd day there (and on his birthday no less!). Not allergic but his leg stayed pretty swollen for a few days. All of us had our encounters to the point where a couple of us avoided hanging out on the deck. We would definitely love to stay there again in the future.

Hi David, I'm so sorry to hear that your son got stung! I'll check around the deck and the dock for possible paper nests. They can be built quickly, but also easily dealt with. I removed one from under the eaves last summer, as soon as a guest discovered it and notified me. Also, the water levels change in the pond, depending on the height of the beaver dam at the outlet and the amount of rain. I'm sure we can come up with a ramp for your older dog, if you come again next year. You gave me a good idea to have landscape rocks added in steps, to prevent erosion and provide easier access, when the waterlevel is low. Thanks again for staying at Bluebell Cottage!

Exceeded Expectations

Bluebell Cottage lived up to its description and more. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet Heather in person but texted her some questions which she promptly replied to. Although an unusually rainy season for Maine, our weather was mainly good (with only a few showers). We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage…swimming, kayaking and fishing (I landed a good-sized largemouth bass on my first cast from the dock!). But above all, we enjoyed the quiet and serenity, occasionally pleasantly broken by cries of a pair of beautiful loons, which traveled closely past the cottage with their young chick. The cottage was super clean and Heather offered all the amenities plus some, like a heat pump with a/c on warm days and heat when it became quite cool, as is typical in Maine. Nice touches throughout, with Heather’s interior design and beautiful flowers outside. In the woods on a small, quiet lake but very close to Camden/Rockport, with all that those coastal villages offer - - including delicious lobster! Definitely hope to return!

On the Pond

We enjoyed our stay on the Hosmer Pond. The home was clean comfortable and well stocked. Communication was excellent and any requests of the owner were quickly met. we would be happy to rent there again.

Perfection!

The Bluebell Cottage was just perfect! As soon as we walked in we felt so comfortable--like walking into the home of a close friend and being welcomed with open arms. It had the perfect amount of space and was so quaint and cozy. Heather, thought of absolutely everything to make her guests feel completely comfortable and at ease. This year has been extremely hard and painful for us as we have experience a very painful loss in our family. This has been our first chance to get away to breathe, relax and heal. The Blue Bell Cottage was the perfect setting for us to do nothing but relax and rest. It's also very close to so many hikes and adorable Camden is just minutes away. Plus there is the added bonus of looking out at the gorgeous pond. I truly can't say enough about this wonderful place!

Fantastic stay at Bluebell Cottage

My parents and I stayed here for a week with our family dog. Communication with Heather was fantastic- from booking and throughout our stay. The cabin was spotless and so comfortably appointed in every room. Little touches all throughout- cozy blankets, binoculars in the sunroom for wildlife sightings, a pantry with loads of spices, and dog treats and puppy wipes at the entrance. Heather was wonderful and gracious with providing some local recommendations. We loved every second of our stay at this cabin and hope to come back next year.

Excellent Maine stay on lake

This was a wonderful property to stay at. I stayed there with my boyfriend and daughter and husband and child (9 months old). It was close to Camden and had a beautiful lake right outside the door. I am looking forward to staying there again next year!! Thank you, Heather for a very peaceful and beautiful week!!!

Charming cottage, excellent host

This a very comfortable, beautifully decorated cottage on very lovely small pond in Camden, therefore close to many other activities in the area although it is difficult to leave this idyllic spot. Heather was the most responsive host we have had in our many home stays. We had no serious issues but she was quick to respond to our questions. Kayaking on this quiet pond early in the morning was exquisite. The Cornell birdsong identifying app, Merlin, named many singers plus hummingbirds were regular visitors to the lovely garden. The kitchen is very well equipped and the deck was a perfect place to entertain friends.. The pièce de résistance for me was the daybed on the pretty porch.. sleeping there with loons calling was wonderful. The porch is very comfortable and has a very nice view of the pond. An important detail to us during this unusually hot July was that the bedrooms have air conditioners.. oh, and how nice to have a big laundry room.. unusual in Maine cottages. We will definitely be back so I almost hate to report about how perfect it is.

Lovely place

I’ve stayed at many rental properties, and this is one of the best. The cottage is clean, comfortable, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. It felt like a home rather than a rental. And the lake is magical. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Very special

Charming and spacious cottage on Hosmer pond, with special touches, beautiful views, firepit, walk to hiking trails and Snowbowl - everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Spent a white Christmas here and kept toasty warm by the wood-burning stove. Owner has beautiful art and lovely collection of houseplants which add to the magic.

Peaceful pond with beautiful fall views!

My husband and I stayed at Bluebell cottage during the second week in October. The pond view was absolutely beautiful. The location of the home is perfectly located near Camden and Rockland. The house itself was well appointed, very clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed during our stay. Our host was very accessible and quick to respond when we had a problem with the lock. A very nice property. We hope to return.

Peace and quiet

This property was everything it said it was. Wonderful lake view and easy access to the water. Private and quiet. Can get on the lake with canoes, paddleboards. The home was wonderful. Great light, comfortable beds and pillows. We bought the pillows, we loved them so much. Close to town, but just far enough away.

After many years "away", I have moved back to the area where I grew up. It's great to be home! I love gardening, traveling and travel sketching, swimming and paddle boarding, knitting and sitting by the fire, cooking and entertaining, hiking and ice skating.

This property is a rare gem! The cottage is on a beautiful pond, close to where my family lives and close to the town and ocean. It is private, with 2.6 acres of land and 190 feet on the pond. The private dock is perfect for launching paddle boards. You can barely see the neighbors houses through the trees. The pond is big enough for paddling, swimming and fishing, but small enough to discourage motor boats. There are 2 small islands to explore, right in front of the cottage, when the loons are finished nesting. It's a wonderful community of respectful neighbors and guests.

Bluebell cottage is on a private road within 4 miles of the harbors and villages of Camden and Rockport, 10 miles from Rockland. The Penobscot Bay mid coast area has great restaurants, multiple grocery stores, outdoor activities, art galleries, museums, local shops, antiquing, light houses, farms, parks and scenic drives. Take a sunset cruise on a schooner or take a ferry to an island. Acadia NP is a scenic 1-1/2 hour drive along the coast, perfect for a day trip!
