More of a dirty old cabin in the woods than a house. The rehab work on the inside was pretty bad. The pots and pans are not usable. We had to put a blanket on the coach and chair to sit. It needs a good cleaning inside and fresh paint.

The house was very dusty my daughter got sick and also had bugs upstairs . The host stated it will be 2 tv’s and it was only 1 .I will not be booking again

We enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable. There were only two issues. Both toilets are installed very close to the walls. They’re not comfortable for adults. The driveway has a large dip between it and the road. It was difficult to get in and out of without bottoming out the cars. Other than those issues we recommend the property.

The property is located in a beautiful wooded location. Its hilly with lots of trees. The sound of tree frogs at night and the birds in the morning is fabulous. The drive in is a little difficult and narrow. I can't imagine trying to find the location in the dark. The drive has a huge washed out area along the pavement that makes it hard to get in and out of (especially in a car that sits low). The house is an older property that has had some updates. The kitchen is beautiful. The refrigerator did not have a working ice or filtered water dispenser (which had we known ahead of time we would have stopped for ice and bottled water before we arrived). Upon arrival, the house smelled a little musty. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms are small, but were clean and service the purpose. The upstairs bathroom shower kept losing water pressure during the shower but if you wait long enough the pressure would come back from a trickle. I would not classify this as a "vacation home", but does suffice as a place to stay and rest your head in the area. We weren't on vacation so it was fine. For the price of the property, I would probably not stay here again. The host will sometimes take a while to respond when you have questions.

We stayed in this house during a family vacation, and it was fine for our needs but not excellent. First, the good. The property and neighborhood were very quiet, and the state park area was pretty. Beds were comfortable, and a great setup for a family (we stayed with a family of 5). Showers were quite nice, and host provided shampoo, body wash, etc. Now for the not-so-good (sadly much more to mention here). For us, the location was inconvenient (esp. at the price point). 10 minutes or more to even get to a store/restaurant, and more like 20-40 to go many places we needed to go. That was a choice we made, but wish the quality of the property made it worthwhile. The driveway has multiple HUGE potholes which made it almost impossible to park on the property without banging up the bottom of our van. Immediately upon entering the house, there was a distinct cigarette smell. The odor was mild, and seemed contained to the living room area, but was present throughout our stay despite having no smokers in our party. We didn't use the kitchen much, but on the one occasion we used the oven we discovered that the interior of the oven was quite messy and rather gross to use. Toilet in the upstairs bathroom is SO tight between the walls that it's almost impossible for an average adult to sit normally on it. I'm not sure how a particularly tall guest would use it. Finally, the upstairs bedroom doors are VERY squeaky, which is a challenge if you have light sleepers! Fine, but disappointing.

Our stay was very nice and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for 3 adults and 2 teens. The beds were comfortable. There were a couple of things that were a challenge. The upstairs bathroom required side sitting in the potty to use and given the rural nature, hand soap dispenser at the kitchen sink and perhaps a foot mat by the front door. It was pretty muddy to the left of the front door.

Rented the property for a space to spend time with our son. Meet all our needs. In the heart of many attractions so whether you want to hike, go to to Six Flags, catch a ball game or tour downtown this property offers a quiet location you can come back to at the end of the day and just relax.

The listing photo showed a toaster oven in the kitchen. We use a toaster oven extensively but didn't bring one this time because we thought it would be in the kitchen. However, just a regular toaster was there.

Quiet neighborhood in the hills near a state park. The bed was very comfortable and the nature was relaxing. Overall, the house is comfy, but was a bit dusty. The addition of blinds or curtains would be nice on the first floor.The property is nice, and could be improved upon with a little TLC.

Peaceful get away from the city

We vacationed to St. Louis and wanted to stay outside of the city so we could enjoy our down time in nature. This place is an older home tucked away on the edge of a state park. It was a 30 minute drive from everything we wanted to do (from downtown St. Louis activities, to Eureka, to Meramec River adventures) which was perfect! Because it is an older home, expect creaky stairs and smaller spaces. All the furniture was SO COMFORTABLE! The beds, sofa, and chairs were perfect for relaxing. It was ideal for our family of 3.

Appears to be a work in progress. Some things not really finished. Water and ice not working. No window treatments in most of the rooms. Very little table ware and skillet’s too poor condition to make them useful. The stool in the upstairs bathroom is extremely poorly positioned and the hand towel ring needs to be refastened to the wall. If the vent on the outside were the bird droppings are is supposed to be functional it should have the bird nest removed and a screen put on. If the washout on the edge of the road could be fixed would make entry a little nicer. I will say the workmanship on the flooring, painting, trim are quite good. The lighting could be improved with the use of larger “daylight bulbs”. One of the convenience electric outlets didn’t work in the table area. The addition of an outlet with a USB included would be a nice addition or a multi port plugin to make charging more convenient. In the end it is a nice place to stay. Thank you for sharing!

Very clean, but the living room furniture and the kitchen baking sheets and pans definitely need replacing. The entrance to the driveway has a large pothole that's unavoidable, and the driveway itself is gravel. With all the rain it was just puddles and weeds. The 2 toilets are quite close to the walls when you sit down so a larger person might not be comfortable. The floors were very clean and the beds were clean and comfortable.

A lovely retreat

We really enjoyed our stay here! There were even toys and books in the upstairs closet for our toddler to play with! The upstairs bathroom you two is a bit cramped to sit on, but otherwise a very nice place.
