Remodeled 1920's Dutch Colonial Revival in Downtown Cape Girardeau

We beat back the vines above Washington Park and found a "kit house" built in 1920! We call it "Brickyard" because as were renovating it last year, it seemed that everywhere we put a shovel in the ground, we found ANOTHER brick! That makes sense when you realize that "Brickyard" sits right next to The Sherwood-Menton House, the former school and later the Civil War hospital -- one of the most storied and historic houses in Cape Girardeau. Located downtown, near Old Lorimer Cemetery, "Brickyard" sits on a high bluff, overlooking two parks. The "Dutch" influence repeats from Dutch door welcoming guests on the front porch to the many tulips and other flowers planted in the yard. Even the everyday dishes are "Delft".
Accessibility - Please note the house sits on a high bluff over looking the park and there are 15 steps up the front yard and another 5 steps up to the front porch from the on street parking. The home has the 1920's floor plan which has no bed room on the first floor and only a seasonal outdoor half bathroom on the first floor screened in porch. 2 bedrooms and a full bath are on the 2nd floor and there is a bedroom and full bathroom in the basement. There is a daybed sofa in the first floor living room that can be used as a bed.
