The place was great and right on the ocean. We were here in February and saw whales every day from the lanai. The host was helpful and responded very quickly. No issues at all. Hope to come back again!!!

The condo was spectacular. Nice kitchen nice furnishings - but what stood out was the views off the balcony into the channel. All days long whale spouts, whales leaping- magic ! Any rain lasted only a short while followed by rainbows. About as perfect a spot as we have ever rented!

Papakea offers a nice family atmosphere, daily activities, and close to shopping and restaurants. Our unit was clean, spacious, well appointed. We spent many hours watching whales and turtles off the lanai… dreamy. Robin (property owner) was awesome, responding to a last minute request for an additional night! Thank you so much!

We found the resort difficult to find and our GPS kept taking us a block past the entrance making it a challenge to locate in the dark, late in the evening. The condo has a beautiful view facing the ocean and we were able to sit on the deck watching whales every single day! That was amazing. The beds were comfortable and the washer and dryer very handy. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. Restaurants and amenities within easy walking distance and the award winning cinnamon roll place just right at the resort entrance. Amazon will deliver to the front office where you can pick up any package which is handy as well. The air conditioning was broken but when I called the property manager immediately contacted the owner and it was repaired while we were there. I found the management company to be very responsive to any request or concern. I would be very happy to stay here again in the future. Lovely place!

Great place to stay

This condo was so great for our family. It had enough space, a very well stocked kitchen (always nice to not have to buy coffee filters for example). It was very clean. The best parts of it IMO are: This is ocean front - not beach front - the views are spectacular and sitting on the balcony at sunset, sunrise, just watching the whales - it was amazing. I will say the ocean is LOUD - maybe the only downside is you will 100% hear it in the master bedroom at night even if you close the windows - it takes some getting used to just how loud it is. So if you are a light sleeper maybe bring ear plugs. Secondly, the grounds and amenities were great. Third, there were so many things we could walk to that made the trip easy - the food trucks (we would often just get food for dinner there and then eat on the balcony watching the sunset, slappy cakes, a grocery store, etc. We loved staying here as did our kids. It was just all very easy. Thank you for the great stay!

We had a lovely time. Unit has a spectacular view… the whale watching was phenomenal!!! The area is perfect for morning walks and eating establishments! I would recommend this unit for a relaxing and invigorating stay. We ourselves are returning in 2025!!

Loved the view but not the condo

We were not excited about the kitchen pests or the smell in the kitchen when we first got there. We cleaned the counters and by the next day, the odd smell was gone. The pests were a recurrent thing. I think it’s to be expected in Hawaii. We ended up keeping our dry goods stored in the oven and microwave for piece of mind. The other issue was the loud noise in the master bedroom from the slatted windows. I read the reviews from previous vacationers so I knew there would be noise from the waves. Just didn’t expect it to be as loud as a freight train. It might not be as bad in summer or on less windy/rainy nights. The condo itself was a great location. The furniture was comfortable. And that view. Breathtaking every morning! We saw so many whales. I could have sat on the lanai all day whale watching. Can’t rave enough about the view. If your priority is whale watching, this is the condo for you. If you prefer a good nights rest or are a sensitive sleeper, you might think twice.

Donna, sorry about the bugs. We are working hard to rid the place of them. This is a new problem for us. We’ve owned the condo for ten years and the only pest problem we ever had was ants from time to time. Crashing waves: Yep, direct ocean front, 60 feet from the waves means crashing waves at night. If you don’t find the sound of the surf comforting and relaxing, don’t stay direct ocean front 60 feet from the waves. We freakin’ love the waves. That’s why we bought the place, along with the view, of course. As for the pests, yes Hawaii has them. For some reason they are worse right now. They seem to be coming in from the surrounding units. It may be related to the fire and the displaced families living in some of the condos in a more long term situation. These tenants are responsible for their own cleaning rather than using professional cleaning services like we use. We have done deep clean-outs on both of our condos since you left, with the recommended treatment from the pest control people and yet, we keep seeing them. On consulting other condo owners, almost all of them in our complex are currently fighting or have recently fought the same battle. From what I read, it is a problem all over the island. Controlling them requires diligence in keeping all food in sealed containers, cleaning all surfaces immediately after food preparation, taking the trash out daily, and keeping all food particles off of the floor. Unfortunately, many guests are not as diligent about this as we owners would be. We will be making a video for our guests to coach them on the pest issue. Doing our best. Scheduling a second clean-out for one of the condos before we leave.

A perfect week with the whales

Perfect location for whale watching in January. One morning while we were having breakfast on the lanai we saw one slap its tail 21 times. The apartment is just as advertised. Everything was easy.

Love this condo!

This is our 3rd time staying here and we love it. The ocean view is awesome and we saw whales every day. Great location (walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants). The grounds at the Papakea Resort (where the condo is located) are very well kept.

Great Accomodations

Right on the waterfront. Could hear the waves from everyone in the condo. Spacious and clean. Plenty of beach activity equipment for use in the condo. Parking was easy. Overall great stay Only disappointment was no real beach or snorkeling on the premises. Water was too rough for kids in this location.

Beautiful view but old condo

We enjoyed the beautiful ocean views. However during our 10 day vacation, we kept finding a large pool of water under the master bedroom carpeting. We called the manager a couple of times and when the workers came the day before our checkout, they discovered that drainage water from the upstairs bathroom was the reason for the big puddle in our bedroom. We were literally stepping on another unit's bathroom water throughout our stay. No wonder I got sick half way through our vacation. I made my family leave Old Lahaina Luau early because I wasn't feeling well. The manager and the resort people did nothing for us. They just left our unit and had the plumbers get to work when we checked out the next morning. I can't imagine what that disgusting carpeting would look like if we haven't told them about the water. The 1st floor condo below us was probably affected too.

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

This condo has everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay in Maui. The Papakea Property is well maintained with lots of amenities. We enjoyed the pool, bbqs, shuffleboard, snorkeling, beach next door, evening sunsets on the lanai and the nearby walking path. A huge plus was the three AC units.

Wonderful vacation home

This condo had everything we needed for a great vacation. Its best feature, of course, is the unobstructed ocean view. It was also comfortable and extremely well stocked. The hosts made sure we had a pack and play for our toddler, which was so helpful. There was also tons of beach gear and binoculars for whale watching. We couldn’t have asked for anything more!
