This was the third stay for our large family at this cabin, and once again, we loved it. It’s secluded, private, and quiet, and one of our favorite things to do there is sit outside on the wraparound deck during clear evenings, watch the stars, and listen to the forest come alive with the sounds of coyotes and other creatures.The deck is perfect for stargazing, as it’s raised high off the ground and offers unobstructed views of the sky all the way past an adjacent ridge 10 or so miles away. This year, we were fortunate enough to witness the Milky Way in all its glory on multiple evenings.That by itself was enough of a celestial show, but on most nights between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., we were treated to spectacular light shows that weren’t shooting stars, satellites, or airplanes—we’d seen enough of those to know the difference. Although we don’t know exactly what these lights were, there were upwards of a dozen visible at any given time. They were extremely energetic and exciting, flying in various trajectories. Their movements appeared intelligent rather than like a natural phenomenon, and they kept us in awe for hours until sunrise.We had never witnessed anything like it before. It was breathtaking and kept us coming back for more on subsequent evenings. What a treat!For our fourth visit, we’re bringing more warm clothing, blankets, pillows, and a telescope to make it even more comfortable outside while we watch the show!This cabin is awesome and highly recommended!
