The small beach and sargassum you ran into in early June are unfortunately common along the entire Riviera Maya that time of year — it varies by wind and current from day to day and is not something any single home can control. Playacar crews do clean in the morning, but the ocean can bring more in after that. Winter and early spring are typically the cleanest months for sand and swimming if a wide, clear beach is the priority. We appreciate you still rating the house so highly and mentioning Maria and the staff. Hope we can host you again in a quieter-seaweed season.

A few notes that may help future guests plan: Sargassum is a seasonal, regional condition along the entire Mexican Caribbean, not something unique to this property. 2026 has been an especially heavy year across Quintana Roo. Conditions on any given beach can change from day to day with wind and current — some mornings the sand is wide and clear, other days seaweed is present, and storms can move sand. Playacar does run morning cleanup; how much is visible later in the day still depends on what the ocean brings in after the crews have been through. We always encourage guests to check a live sargassum map before and during their stay and to treat the pool, the house, and nearby beach clubs as part of the plan when the shoreline is having an off day. The home sits in a residential neighborhood a short walk from town, so you will hear normal street life — scooters, deliveries, and people moving around. It is a gated neighborhood with a buffer from the town. Fifth Avenue itself is the pedestrian heart of Playa and is beautiful; the experience does depend on which blocks you walk and the time of day. We’re sorry the beach and the noise around the pool didn’t match the vacation you had pictured. The house, Ivonne, and the staff are what we can control, and we’re grateful you felt those were exceptional. If you ever return in the cleaner winter months, we’d love another chance to host you.
