The beach is fantastic. We love the local area with a relaxed atmosphere and laid back vibe. Everything we needed for food or going out was within 5 minutes and it is an easy commute around the island. They are very responsive to any questions we had.

It's not just the spectacular location - the attention to detail in providing for guest comfort is superb. Our family of 9 came from all over for a rare opportunity to be together, and the togetherness was facilitated by generous, private spaces for all- it's easy steps to the water, near town but private, no one beaching in front of the property, water toys, lots of comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, and wonderful outdoor living spaces. The property management staff responds quickly and kindly when needed. 10/10 - we highly recommend!

Walker House is beautiful. The view from the main living room is amazing and the best part of the property. Being directly on the ocean and beach is idyllic. Amenities were plentiful and appreciated for the house and beach. Steven was very helpful and responsive when I had any questions. If you get to book this house, you won't be disappointed!

ON THE BEACH! So much to like about this house. 11 of us , and the house was perfect! The house was fully equiped and perfectly located on Lanakai beach. Beds were super comfortable, rooms and bathrooms were super clean. It felt so awesome just stepping out and swimming in the most beautiful water Hawaii has to offer. We arrived right before the tropical/hurricane LaLa hit. And we were just fine. Steve came out and gave us extra towels and mats just in case. The electricity was out for a while but we did not care! We had so much fun we did not want to leave. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home for our family celebration! We hope to one day return! Mahalo!

The property matches its description and photos, what you see is what you get. Great welcome amenities and everything you need for an enjoyable stay at the beach is in the house. Quick walk to the Pill Boxes hike, and a 5 min drive to the restaurants and shopping in Kailua. Treat your family and stay here.

A very special place to spend time with family. We celebrated my daughter’s wedding together and I would absolutely love to come back again. Steven is a fabulous host, highly recommend. Core memories made. The view is breathtaking. Walkability to Lanikai Pillbox hike, Kailua Beach, and Lanikai Beach. Very clean. Beautiful property.

Wonderful unique historic property in a beautiful setting

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family group of 6 adults and 2 children had a wonderful stay at this property. It was in an ideal location with gorgeous views. The main kitchen was very well equipped with high quality appliances and plenty of plates, glasses, silverware etc. There was lots of room to gather as a group or spread out separately. The property manager was helpful and responsive when needed. We loved a guided kayak tour to Popoia Island with Kailua Beach Adventures, and a hike up to Lanikai Pillbox. We saw numerous sea turtles in the ocean in front of the property. One minor drawback was that when we checked in on a Friday afternoon, both large garbage bins and both large recycling bins were completely full, and recycling bins are only emptied once every two weeks, so we had to store our recyclable items in bags for a week. Otherwise 100% fabulous experience!

Reviewer Comments: I EXPECTED THIS 100 YEAR OLD PROPERTY TO BE A BIT WORN DOWN BUT FOUND THIS LARGE, CLASSIC HAWAIIAN, BUNGALOW IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION.I FOUND THE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION OF THE BEDROOMS CONFUSING. THERE ARE 5, THREE IN THE MAIN HOUSE, ONE IN THE COTTAGE AND ONE IN THE BOATHOUSE. ALL ARE VERY COMFORTABLE. THREE HAVE THEIR OWN BATH. TWO (IN THE MAIN HOUSE) SHARE A BATH. (BTW, THE GARAGE HAS A CODE THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THAT FOR THE MAIN HOUSE BUT IT APPEARS NOWHERE IN THE NOTEBOOK OF INSTRUCTIONS)ONE IN OUR GROUP OF SEVEN SAID THE PICTURES IN THE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE BEAUTY OF THIS SITE, AND I AGREE. IN THE PICTURES YOU DON’T GET THAT THE WHITE PICKET FENCE IS LITERALLY ON THE WATER. AT HIGH TIDE, WATER SPLASHES UP OVER THAT FENCE - THAT’S HOW CLOSE YOU ARE. IT’S WONDERFUL!THE FRONT, MAIN ROOM HAS MANY WINDOWS THAT OPEN TO INVITE THE TRADE WINDS IN, WHICH ARE DELIGHTFUL.STEVEN JACOBS, OUR HOST, WAS EXCEPTIONALLY RESPONSIVE AND HELPFUL. ONE LAST THING: WE HAD A PRIVATE CHEF HANDLE THREE DINNERS AND SHE WAS FABULOUS: ALINE STEINER,, . I highly recommend it.

The Walker house in Lanakai was amazing. It was everything and more than we expected. Pictures do not do the view of the ocean justice. The house was equipped with everything we needed. I would repeat this vacation over and over. The property management communication was easy and timely. I'd love to keep it our little secret.

There was plenty of room for the 7 of us. We used 3 bedrooms in the main house and 1 bedroom in the guest house. Loved the many outside showers with entrance right into bathrooms, so helpful with keeping sand out of the house. Public access to the beach is one house away. The 2 washers and 2 dryers in the garage were very helpful, with plenty of laundry detergent and dryer sheets.There was a lovely welcome basket when we checked in. The house manual binder was very helpful with info about the house and things to do and local restaurants and stores, etc. Communication with Private Homes Hawaii was very friendly and efficient. They made everything very easy for us and always responded quickly. We will be back!

The view was still beautiful and it was easy to walk a house down the road to the beach access. The house has everything you could think of needing in the kitchen and otherwise. It was great to have space for our family especially with the off and on rain keeping us inside sometimes. We would absolutely stay again and hope to soon!

Staying at this historic gem on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches was an absolute dream. The location is unbeatable, but the private driveway (fitting 3 cars!) was a total game-changer in an area where parking is so scarce.The "Wow" Factor: Walking into the main house is a moment we’ll never forget. With floor-to-ceiling glass, you feel like you’re on a cruise ship floating over turquoise water. It is breathtaking!The Layout: Our group loved the "bubble of paradise" created by the gated courtyard.The Main House: Perfect for gathering at the large dining table.The Cottage: A modern, accessible, and peaceful retreat.The Boathouse: A fun, unique space! Just be ready for the narrow stairs and the hilarious "bathroom door is also the loft ladder" situation—it kept us laughing and communicating all week!Service & Amenities: The manager went above and beyond, even helping us through an emergency during a holiday. The house was stocked with everything—from a full kitchen for 10 people to a garage full of beach toys and local Hawaiian soaps.We felt so privileged to live in this historic home. Whether you're hiking miles of coastline or relaxing in the yard, it is pure magic. We can't wait to come back!

Hawaii getaway

This beautiful home went above and beyond. We were all blown away with this home. There were 14 of us, 4 different families and with the layout of the main house and the boat and cottage house, it could not have worked out any better. Checkin was a breeze---and any immediate questions we had were answered right away. The kitchen was better stocked than my own and so much fun to work in. It was also nice to have so many beach toys and items available. If we are ever lucky enough to get back, this rental would be at the top of our list.

Spectacular view out the bay window of the spacious family room. Clean as a whistle. The owner has thought of everything to include two new washers and dryers.It was such fun in 2019 that we all wanted to reprise the experience in 2025.Steven and Patty to very good care of us....flexible and responsive.Note that it is quite pricey but worth every penny if you are looking for a truly exquisite family experience.

Perfect Family Vacation

We had ages 8 months to 81 years old in our group and it served us all well. The views are incredible and 100 year old house is a great blend of traditional Hawaiian with updated amenities. Everything worked as expected and promised.
