The lodge property is old time rustic, which was what we were looking for in the mountains. We made good use of the kitchenette in our room. Sauna, large hot tub and large indoor pool were very clean and relaxing. We will visit again and bring our grandsons next time. Authentic vintage North Carolina lodge.

The place is very run down and it smells of mold. Very old and I had to figure out how to enter the property and find my room. They’re no elevators if you are up on the third floor. There’s also no reception desk clerk after 8 pm or before 8 am.

The in-room lighting leaves something to be desired. No overhead lighting for working at the table. Hauling luggage up stairs is a chore, but I was warned ahead of time. Overall great place for the value however. Would definitely book again.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean, as were the changing areas. This is an older hotel that could use some updating - new flooring would really help- but for the price and location, it was perfect for our needs.

This is a small hotel with prime location. The suite was two bedroom, views from all windows incredible, great amenities, and congenial staff. The only issue was the number of stairs.

The property is dated built in the 70's really enjoyed the lodge feel of the property, the inside pool and hot tub is definitely a plus and in the game room the pool table was free. The room and appliances were clean. They need to invest in new pillows. The view from the pool and the location of the lodge is excellent. Does it need updated absolutely, is it worth the money absolutely. Go to Blowing Rock and the Boone area quite often and this is the place I will stay again.

Rooms were clean and staff was extra friendly... But the pictures on the site don't accurately represent this property. The inside of the lodge is very cool... but the game room pictures are apparently very old. The games shown in the pictures were not the same. The cool arcade games were missing... The exterior of the building is in stages of disrepair and need some serious updating. The main issues we had were the hot tub was not hot. All day Saturday, the temp was about 85 degrees... which is not a hot tub... it was very chilly. There was also the smell of a skunk at certain times outside and locals said they have had issues with them under the property. It wasn't a big deal, so we didn't bring it up. All rooms have window units for A/C... again, upgrades need to be made. However with all that said, we'd still probably stay there if the hot tub was fixed and some minor upgrades were made. For the price, it was reasonable and the staff again were very nice. It's also very conveniently located to Banner Elk and some great places to eat.

This property is not what the pictures show! Those photos must be decades old! It is not a bright blue fresh painted place. It is not well-maintained. When we pulled in my kid screamed "Bates Motel!" The exterior was not maintained at all. It had weathered and gray boards with mold all over. We wanted a lodge vibe while in the mountains, but I could have stayed in a nicer hotel for the money I spent here! The hall and stairs and room carpet were nasty and smelled. My bathroom smelled like urine. The sofa had some kind of stain on it. The top ledge of the sofa and cushions and the blanket for the pull-out were covered in dust and kicked up everywhere when we sat down and used the blanket. Window air conditioner and was loud. Gross. Did not feel safe here at all. They said they could not refund my money.

The photos on the Expedia are cherrypicked and quite deceptive. From the exterior, the building looks way worse than the photos reveal. Inside, the finishings and decor are quite dated, though the hallways to access the rooms and the rooms themselves are surprisingly clean. The entrances and stairwells aren't the cleanest. The building is old and settling. Hallway floorboards creak and lean this way and that. When you look up at the top of stairways, you can see the next level leaning this way or that. For now it's a decent, and cheaper place to stay, but without major renovation and repairs, it will get shutdown for safety reasons.

Very courteous staff. The place is very dated but it's a good value for being so close to Beech Mtn (10 mins) and Sugar Mtn (25 mins) ski resorts. Room was well equipped with a mini kitchen and everything necessary to cook (Stove, pots and pans, boiler, toaster, cutlery, plates, bowls...) Quiet despite the proximity to the busy road, easy parking. Room is very dated and there were a couple of stink bugs I could have lived without.
