Amazing views from Matthews Lodge!!!! This is my third stay (first time after hurricane Ian) and every time the staff, from the office staff to the maintenance team to the housekeeping team are ALL amazing! Always right there to tend to every need with a smile! I don’t think there is ever a day they would ever not make this place feel like home away from home!! The Island Inn is a must and the island would not feel the same without them! They are working hard to re build the future and sustain the incredible history this Inn has to offer its guests. In fact, if I lived close enough, they make the environment so great I would even want to work there! God Bless!! Dawn H

The Inn was a nice place. However be careful what web site you make your reservations with. They tell you there is a pool, complimentary breakfast. These are no more. After the hurricanes the pool is gone as well as then doing a breakfast for there customers. Rooms were spacious but it does come with a price.

I think the Island Inn was a great place to stay if you want to walk out of your room onto a beautiful uncrowded beach that the crowd ls limited to the rooms it has occupied at the resort. Sanibel Island as a whole is still recovering from the devastation that the last hurricane there caused, as is the Island Inn, as they lost somewhere around 12-18 buidlings throughout the property. The room was a lovely efficiency room that included a living room and kitchen area. Rooms are clean and bright and well maintained. You can either stock up on food for your refrigerator and bbq right out on the beach or you can drive a little ways to Captiva Island and find some great restaurants there. We stayed there after a stay in Sarasota which was very busy, so an isolated, quiet beach without music playing and footballs being tossed in front of me was a nice change. Nice place to stay - Make sure you bring lots of strong bug spray for those times when there's no wind as the noseum's (sand gnats) will eat you alive and you won't know it until a few days later when you're home and itching like crazy. That's a "Sanibel" thing (not an Island Inn thing)..

We had an incredible stay at the Island Inn for our anniversary, and we can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. Ken and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our trip truly special, and their kindness and attention to detail made us feel right at home. The rooms were very comfortable with breathtaking beach views, and the hotel provided so many thoughtful free amenities—like beach chairs and umbrellas—that made our days by the ocean even better. The screened porch was perfect for relaxing (citronella candles from the store were a lifesaver for the no-see-ums), and we loved how welcoming and friendly everyone was throughout our stay. Even with parts of the property still being rebuilt, the Island Inn already feels like a slice of paradise. We can’t wait to see it fully restored and will definitely be making all of our future Sanibel stays here. Highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting the island!

As a couple in our 50's, we were looking for something quiet and relaxing which is exactly what we found here. There are no shops, pools, bars, or restaurants within walking distance but the beach was PERFECT! We will definitely return! :)

They have been working tirelessly to get the property beck since the hurricanes. Our room was brand new and excellent! Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful to make sure your needs are met. It’s sad to see the island in such bad shape 3 yrs since Ian. However things are looking up all around and our stay along the beach was wonderful!

Really loved this place. Right on the water, about 75 feet from back porch to ocean. Private and peaceful, everything a weekend getaway should be like. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing hotel in Sanibel

Third time staying in Sanibel. This hotel (or Inn) is amazing. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is amazing. Huge space, nice kitchen and supplies, balcony with a lot of chairs and table to sit and relax. King size bed was great and bathroom has 2 sinks - identical as photos. They offer 1 covered parking spot (in the summer or raining season, this make a difference). The Inn is right at the beach, in a private and nice place at Sanibel - away from the public beach area. My wife loved shelling in peace and found several shells to her collection. They offer chairs/umbrella at no cost. And bikes for rentals. Cleaning staff was great and service everyday.

Probably not fair to rate an area that is still recovering from recent hurricane damage that ravaged Sanibel Island. The room seemed more of a one-bedroom condo you would rent on the beach for a few days to a week. If that is your goal, a great spot. Otherwise, for anyone passing through, I think it misses the mark. That is what we were doing.

We stayed in a room with an absolutely breathtaking view, the perfect way to start and end each day with the sound of the ocean. The front desk service at check-in and check-out was fantastic – friendly, welcoming, and efficient. The beach is spectacular – peaceful, clean, and ideal for relaxing or shelling. Everything at the hotel is well cared for and thoughtfully maintained. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be coming back. Island Inn is far beyond our expectations. Check in with Ken was awesome. Its more than a room irs an apartment with full kitchen, screened balcony overlooking the Gulf of America. One of the best places on Sanibel for sea shell hunting. Clean, nice furnishings.
