Most restaurants close before 7pm and mostly souvenir shops in village. Some accommodation too far from reception and difficult to find esp in dark snowy conditions . More lights and signage will be useful

Beautiful cottage and magical place. Big space comes with filtered coffee maker and private sauna. The only way to the village is by bus at 8 Euros per person or taxi or drive. Depending on timing, the buses do not run 24hrs so for early departure timings such as 0915am or 0950am, only way is to book taxi which is cheaper at 20 Euros.

A nice cabin with sauna which is great, and with a small kitchenette for cooking. Good spread of breakfast from 7-10am. The only thing is the road condition to the cabin is not good during our stay. Easy access to Rovaniemi city centre with shuttle buses and can visit Santa Claus village with Santa claus post office, arctic circle line, overall a pleasant stay

Not stay friendly

On the outside everything looks nice. The balcony view table and chairs with a touch of plain Christmas tree with lights was nice. Bed booked/requested was queen or double bed but got a twin bed put side by side. TV Remote controller was not in good condition. No connection with the reception house phone was just for show had to either walk there or use our international phone to call them. Be prepared U have to lug ur heavy luggage all the way to the cabin if its all the way inside. So pulley bags or on wheels is advised for this stay.

All good except...

We arrived at Santa Claus Village at about 2pm and took a while to walk to the hotel’s reception. It was cold and snowing, not very easy to reach the hotel on foot with 2 big luggage. Check in was smooth, staffs were friendly. Room not ready at 2pm so we left our luggage with the reception and went ahead to enjoy the area. At 4pm we went back to the reception to collect room key and was told that our luggage was delivered to the room already. We thought this is good service but very soon we realised it was not quite possible to pull the luggage to our room on our own. The reason? The room is far away from the reception! The room assigned to us was in the middle of nowhere and beside a construction site! We were greeted by some discarded items in front of the door but those were cleared away very soon after we called the reception to complaint. Our request to change room was turned down by the standard excuse, which is “rooms are fully booked”. So we paid good money to stay near construction site, with no view except construction equipments and having to walk a distance back to our room in the freezing weather every now and then. Breakfast was adequate and staffs were friendly at the restaurant. Check out was smooth and we arranged for our luggage to be collected from our room and deliver to the reception which was absolutely necessary. The driver that came to assist us with the luggage was good, and the housekeeping staffs were nice.

The villa was spacious and the spa inside the villa was really good especially when you wanted to relax after roaming around the cold weather. Hotel reception staff are not very friendly and very attentive which is quite sad since the “Christmas” spirit of happiness and joy should be consistent all though out. there’s one exception though since Marco (who is an all around staff - he drives people to airport, help with tours etc) is really a very friendly guy who provides consistent service everytime he helps us during our 5days stay in the hotel

Forgettable

It was not easy to get there from the train station, and the room was small, there was frying pan but no oil, hotel rooms were located at a corner of the village and it was a walk to everything. We ended up eating at the petrol station across the road for most meals, hardly enjoyable. Everything closed early, there was nothing much to do nearby, except to explore the petrol station. Breakfast was terrible, not just the lack of range but also quality of food. There was also nowhere to wash and dry clothes, which was a nightmare after our boys rolled around on the road and covered themselves in dust. Ended up trying to dry the clothes in the sauna. Could not wait for the end to leave the place.

Santa Claus Village is a wonderful place to stay

If your purpose is to experience Northern Lights, this is the place. If you purpose is to see Santa Claus, this is the place. If you want to enjoy the other facilities such as husky sledge n reindeer ride, you will love this place very much.
