A good location to walk around and see the sights. Rooms clean and had everything you needed. Parking is limited and you need to book and pay for a spot if you have a car. Very handy location if you are using Ferries. Good pubs and eateries nearby.

Great location for train or ferry

Quest on Thorndon was convenient, comfortable with the in-room laundry and kitchen adding to the stay. The staff was great. We arrived on the Northern Explorer and a couple of days later left on the ferry to Picton so the proximity to the train depot and ferry port was a plus for us.

A splurge but astounding service and comfort

Huge, comfortable room with all the conveniences. Ariel, the receptionist was outstandingly helpful, patient, professional and effective in getting back the camera and phone I had left in the van from the airport and it helping get back my lost luggage from Air New Zealand. The reception "closes" at 7:00pm but they made sure that some staff would be available to receive my luggage and other items if they arrived after 7 pm.

Excellent location. Great to have washer and dryer. Property asked us not to use laundry after 10 pm. At 8i15 pm someone from a neighboring room asked us to stop drying our clothes because the dryer noise was preventing her from sleeping (at 8:15?!!). We stopped drying, which was very inconvenient. In addition, the room had an inpleasant smell when we checked in. We had to open windows.

Review of Quest on Thorndon

On the surface, everything was fine. It was clean and comfortable. However, it had some weird issues. The lights/electric require you to plug in your keycard which they forgot to tell us nor could we find it in the guest info. This was easily fixed with a trip to the lobby; however, it would have been a pain had we gotten in late and the staff was gone. The dryer didn't really dry our clothes. The fan in the bathroom was on a timer or some "smart" control so we had to listen to it when it wasn't necessary. The location is very close to the rail station and Interisland Ferry shuttle.

The hours for reception was limited, especially on the weekend but the hotel staff sent me instructions as to what to do when I arrived and all went smoothly. The room had a kitchenette, and washer and dryer, none of which we used but was nice that they were available. The internet worked very well. The only negatives were that the hotel was not in the most central part of the CBD. Also, the room had a scent like of perfume.

Location is Great!

The bed was old and we could feel the springs. Otherwise, the place is great. It has all the amenities we needed. The location was very convenient to the center of town (walking distance). Parking is a challenge but we were able to get a spot for the night.

Spacious and clean room

Room was spacious and clean - kitchen came with all basic essentials! Location is not in the 'heart' of the city but there's plazas within walking distance.

Good location, well-maintained....some 'issues'

Due to flight problems, we arrived after the desk closing time. The phone numbers we had did not result in contact, but my husband walked into the hotel lobby with some returning residents, and found a contact number at the desk that resulted in contact with the owner, who lives in the hotel. He was quick to come to the entrance, and we were checked in. The owner was friendly, and helpful with information that helped us plan our next day. The location is very convenient, and my wife and I walked everywhere we wished to go in our two-night/one day stay. The hotel information booklet had instructions in it for a washing machine and dryer that was not in the room. Use of the one combo machine was a problem, with apparent electronic issues that caused some clothing problems. The king-size bed had a hard ridge down the center. Two double beds together? Be aware that parking is very limited at the hotel. We parked on the street the first night (Sunday, free until 8AM), then in a small open-air, covered, parking 'garage' close to the hotel the day and night we were there afterward. ($24NZ, 8AM - 7PM; $15NZ, 5PM - 8AM) We stopped at this hotel after a flight in from Christ Church, on our travel going north. The stop was pleasant, and we would recommend the hotel to someone in similar circumstances, with an understanding of 'the issues'. The cost was reasonable, and the hotel was clean/well-maintained.

Well located to stadium and Parliament

We went the Super Rugby game at Westpac Stadium and the location couldn’t have been better. It was just a short walk from the train station and Stadium walkway. Very quiet and comfy but not close to any nightlife or restaurants. That was the only negative.

mediocrity in wellington

I thought the online ad stated there was a foam mattress on the bed and there was a very weak regular mattress. The room was very quiet as per my request. When we arrived at around 10PM, we were able to enter the building because they left the key in a box for us but had difficulty entering a dark room unable to turn on any lights. We finally found someone staying at the hotel to help us. The front desk was not helpful when asked if we could check out late due to a very late flight (they never even offered to keep our luggage for a few hours) they were very cold about it. the housekeeping varied in its quality. One woman at the front desk was nice and indicated this was so I would mention her in my evaluation for the hotel chain itself, We stayed 22 nights and were treated like this. The room itself met our needs.
