Formerly a humble, raw-wood cabin, this little house has terrific character. (The apartment is actually in the front, with the porch; there's another small one in the rear.) The owners have managed to preserve the character of the house by beautifully refinishing much of the original wood in the living room/kitchenette combination, and especially the complete outside of the house. Everything has been rehabbed: the kitchenette has beautiful wood cabinets, in keeping with the antique wood, and all the latest appliances; the bathroom is completely modern and very attractive; and the cozy bedroom is quiet and nicely appointed. The location is incredibly convenient: within easy walking distance to most of the things you'd want to do in Key West. Though there's a parking place, you won't need a car. The location might feel a bit busy to some (this is not secluded, despite its outer appearance), but the insulation from sound on the outside (part of the rehab, I presume) is most effective. I felt like I was right in the middle of the Key West action, but could always close the door and concentrate at any time of day or night on my writing, the main reason I was there. An extra plus is that the owners work a couple of doors away, and are easily available, should problems or questions arise. This is a wonderful place, and I recommend it very highly!
