Named after a paddlewheel steamer that navigated the Apalachicola River in the late 1800's, The Bay Queen loft is a two bedroom, two bath vacation getaway in the heart of beautiful, historic downtown Apalachicola.
Located on the second floor of the High Cotton Marketplace, enjoy a panoramic view of the river and one of the few remaining working waterfronts on the Gulf Coast from a private, semi-covered veranda. Built in 2005, the High Cotton Marketplace is a small, mixed-use development of retail and residential condo units designed to blend with historic Apalachicola.
Decorated in a unique blend of contemporary and coastal cottage furnishings with an emphasis on comfort, featuring hand-picked, one-of-a-kind artwork. With 9' ceilings, crown molding, soothing colors, relax in 1,500 square feet of well designed, comfortable space, with a spa like feel. The veranda is 30' x 10'.
Walk to top-rated restaurants, galleries, boutiques, and museums. The Bay Queen features a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances, or walk downstairs to Café Con Leche for your fresh hot coffee.
A flat screen HDTV can be viewed from anywhere in the oversized great room with its wall of windows. Sony Micro HiFi shelf system with iPod (MP3) connection and CD player. Wireless Internet, full sized washer & dryer, oversized spa-tub in master bath, private elevator. Beach gear & bikes included.

Perfect for Attending a Wedding

This is the cutest place! The description of everything: rooms, amenities was spot on! We attended a wedding at the Appalachicola Ice Company. You could see the event hall from the balcony. Really loved the private elevator because my husband had back surgery. Very clean. Comfortable couch. Manager was very nice. Beautiful view. Really enjoyed it! I would put this on my "Places to Revisit" list.

Great Location

A fabulous location in "downtown" Apalachicola. Quite close to several of our favorite restaurants and shops. Two bedroom, two full baths - good size with plenty of room. Nice full kitchen and views to the river. I would recommend Bay Queen or stay there again.

Excellent stay

We were all very pleased with our stay of 3 nights. Great location with one exception industrial cooling fan noise from near by shrimp processing plant negated the pleasure of sitting on the balcony.

Bright clean condo with a view!

I would highly recommend this property for anyone visiting Apalachicola and wanting to be close to everything. The unit itself was very clean and well decorated. I liked that it was bright and open concept. The large balcony offered a perfect view of the river and made for a great sunrise cup of coffee! The property manager met us at the door upon check in and was very courteous. We will be keeping this place in mind for future visits. Dog friendly was a plus!

Perfect location by the bay- so relaxing

What a pleasant place. The 2 bedroom codo has big bedrooms and the great room is huge with lots of windows toward the fishing pier and bay view. The porch hasa great view and their are Adirondack chairs to relax in with the morning cup of coffee. The coffee shop with breakfast is just below in the street level. A waterfront seafood restaurant is just down the street. Ice cream is around the corner. Appalachacola is so quaint and preserved. We loved it!

Clean and quiet

The property was beautiful and clean. There is a narrow and steep staircase to get to the living space. But a private elevator is available also. We were happily surprised that the nearby bar music was not heard within the apartment! We enjoyed our stay and would love to come again.

Excellent property. We’re world travelers and this one of the nicest vacation rentals we’ve rented. There were no surprises. The listing and pictures accurately described the property. Great location.

Great location in Apalachicola

We rented this property for a fishing trip with a few friends and really enjoyed our stay. The location was great and within a short walking distance to the main downtown area. The apartment was clean and inviting and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful Condo

The bay queen was a perfect condo for a weekend with friends. Walking distance to all the restaurants & shops. We loved drinking coffee on the porch in the morning & watching the boats go by. Can’t wait to come back again. My only suggestion is adding a mattress pad to the beds they were a little too firm in my opinion.

Fabulous Place to Stay!!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Bay Queen. The location is perfect. You can walk to the shops and restaurants in Apalachicola. The view is amazing- you can watch the boats come down the river. The condo was very clean and met all of our needs. My elderly parents were with me and the private elevator was a huge help so they did not have to use the stairs. I hope to stay here again the next time I am in Apalachicola.

Was a wonderful stay.

It was a very quiet place. Our needs were met at every angle. I even got to bring my pet and she loved the balcony and meeting the neighbors and their dog too. The sun rises was so pretty from here and easy walk to every where. Below us was an amazing coffee shop with great breakfast quiche. You can’t go wrong here at the Bay Queen.

A Nice Getaway

It wasn’t crowded and for the most part, people wore masks and social distanced. It’s a very relaxing place and our dog loved the patio there! We will be back in the winter hopefully.

This vacation rental was perfect for us because it allowed us to have the comforts of home in a beautiful area. The views from the balcony are amazing! Description of the home are very accurate and we would stay here again if we are in the area.

Nice but Noisy

We spent a pleasant week here, but the veranda suffers from a HUGE and INTOLERABLE noise from the refrigeration units outside the shrimp plant across the street. Bone-headed business practices like this killed Apalachicola’s fisheries, don’t let it hamstring the town’s tourist business, too. Couldn’t recommend this property.

How did we find Apalachicola? In 2007 we asked a friend, where in Florida (we're from Memphis) could we travel with our beautiful standard poodle - Nina. The first thing out of her mouth was A-P-A-L-A-C-H-I-C-O-L-A, because the town is dog friendly. It sure is. After several wonderful trips to town, we fell in love with the charm and magic of Apalachicola (and her friendly people) and in 2009 made this our getaway home.

Besides the wonderful view of the river and close proximity to everything, one of things we like best, is that if you don't go to the beach, you can park your car and not touch it for a long. All of downtown is walkable within several minutes. When was the last time you rode a single speed bike (with a wicker basket) to the grocery or drug store AND were not concerned about locking it? This is Apalach.

We've had plenty of happy vacation guests since then and have just recently utilized VRBO. Come for a visit, slow down, relax and enjoy the beauty of this hidden jewel.
