Location
Tucked away on a quiet street in the UNESCO World Heritage Canal District, everything you need is within easy walking distance: the Museum District with the world-famous Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, and beautiful Vondelpark. Just around the corner you’ll find the lively Utrechtsestraat (with charming shops, cafés, and restaurants since 1658) and the iconic Prinsengracht and its seven bridges — one of the most photogenic spots in the city and a true classic Amsterdam postcard scene.
We’re also close to less touristy areas, giving you a wonderfully authentic Amsterdam feel. Stroll along the beautiful Amstel River, stop by the grand Amstel Hotel (where parts of the movie Ocean’s Twelve were filmed), and the famous Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). According to legend, the original bridge was built in 1691 so two sisters who lived on opposite sides of the river could visit each other every day. It was so narrow that locals nicknamed it the “Skinny Bridge” (Magere Brug). The beautiful version you see today dates from 1934.
Just beyond the bridge lies the lovely Plantage neighborhood — Amsterdam’s green “cultural garden” with its beautiful parks and tree-lined streets. Here you’ll find the Hortus Botanicus (one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, founded in 1638 as a “Hortus Medicus” to grow medicinal herbs for doctors and apothecaries during times of plague) and Artis Zoo (the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838). Right next to the zoo is Micropia, the world’s first museum dedicated entirely to microbes — a fascinating and interactive experience that makes the invisible world visible.
Don’t miss the historic Waterlooplein flea market (dating back to 1882), one of Amsterdam’s oldest and most vibrant markets, originally located in the heart of the Jewish quarter. Browse for vintage treasures, antiques, clothing, and unique finds in a lively, authentic atmosphere.
This is just a glimpse of what the beautiful city of Amsterdam has to offer. We highly recommend booking enough days so you have plenty of time to discover Amsterdam’s hidden secrets and truly enjoy your stay.
