Tucked into the southern coastal landscape of the island, Villa Mayeia provides a serene retreat for recharging in Crete. This impressive holiday home is situated in the area of Plakias, in a beneficial location, just minutes away from all kinds of daily amenities as well as the homonymous long sandy beach, so our guests can enjoy a car free holiday.
Layout
Villa Mayeia is designed to accommodate large groups, while offering privacy at the same time, as it is consisted of two autonomous, fully equipped buildings. The interior of the property covers 260 sq.m. in total, featuring 5 en-suite bedrooms and it can accommodate 10 guests in beds and up to 13 if necessary. Each bedroom is a minimalist haven from the harsh sun with clean aesthetic featuring a king size double bed (1,60 X 2,00) equipped with high quality DUNLOPILLO mattress and pillows, suitcase stand, open wardrobe, 32 TV, A/C and en-suite bathroom consisted of a shower cabin, washing basin and toilet.
The upper building is comprised of three levels, connected by a central staircase, offering 3 bedrooms, one in each level. On the ground floor, guests find themselves in a cosy, open plan area with a 50 HDTV, energy wood burning fireplace and portable JBL bluetooth speaker. Additionally, a full kitchen, equipped with high quality, built-in appliances provides all necessary equipment for a self catered holiday, including an island counter, an upper counter oven with induction hobs, large fridge with freezer and even a wine cooler. An indoor dining area with benches is also available and the kitchen also offers outdoor access to the BBQ area. The bedroom on this level also offers a built-in sofa with a top mattress that can accommodate one guest.
Stairs lead from the ground floor to the lower level, where you can find one more bedroom, offering a sofa chair that can be used as a single bed and accommodate one guest, balcony and direct outdoor access. Finally, a laundry room with a washer and a dryer exists on this level.
The master suite on the first floor retains the openness characteristic of the rest of the villa, offering access to a spacious veranda equipped with cozy bean bag chairs overlooking the pool and outdoor area. A second large veranda featuring a wooden sauna is also accessible from the first floor, enjoying beautiful views of the area and offering an additional sitting area, ideal to enjoy the sunset.
The lower building also features an open plan area with a second living room and kitchen on the ground floor. To keep the guests connected to the pristine landscape, the interior living room is sophisticatedly furnished and expands out onto the open-air space to take advantage of the sea views and warm climate, as large glass doors frame in ocean and mountain vistas and extend the interior out to the terrace and second swimming pool with outdoor sitting area. The lounge area offers a sitting area and round dining table for 5, Marshall bluetooth speaker and 50 Smart TV, while a second fully equipped kitchen is also available. Furthermore, one bedroom can also be found on this level, offering direct access to the pool.
Ascending the stairs to the first floor guests can find the fifth bedroom, that enjoys beautiful views of Plakias bay and the surrounding area. A second door leads for the bedroom to the roof top veranda, boasting superb views of the sea and the surrounding area.
Last but not least, the careful selection of earthly colours, natural materials, branded furniture (Flos, Baxter, Classicon, al2, Talenti, Davide Groppi, Paola Lenti, Nemo lighs), minimal design and bohemian chic decoration of Villa Mayeia offer its guests a sense of luxury, harmony and tranquility while its clean lines create a contemporary silhouette.
Villa Mayeia is also kid friendly providing baby cot, high chair, baby bath, pool floaties and play pen upon request.
Exterior
To make things even better, the outdoor spaces of Villa Mayeia are designed to make the most out of the beautiful landscape and amazing sea views, spreading in two levels and covering 400 sq. m. in total. More specifically, the outdoor facilities include:
- A 35 sq. m. private swimming pool, 1,50m deep, that can also be heated with an additional daily charge upon advance request.
- A 25 sq. m. private swimming pool with steps access, 0,40m - 1,30m deep. Its shallow part can also be used for young children. Both pools are ecological.
- A beautiful, wooden, outdoor sauna for 6 people, with amazing sea views on the first floor veranda of the upper building.
- Various seating spots with 3 comfortable sun beds, 2 luxury lounge beds, 4 bean bag chairs, 1 chaise longue, 2 chairs and side tables.
- Two outdoor dining areas with comfortable seating under the shade of a pergola for up to 12 guests each.
- Two outdoor showers, one of which also provides hot water as well.
- Two spacious verandas on the first floor of the upper building, as well as a roof top terrace in the lower building.
- 2 fully equipped electric BBQ facilities (Weber Pulse 2000 Black with a Trolley)
- Private parking space for up to 4 cars.

Mayeia Villa is located just 250 metres on foot from the famous sandy beach of Plakias and offers a magical views of the Libyan sea and the sunset.

Originally a very small and quiet fishing village, Plakias town has become a renowned tourist resort now providing all the facilities our guests would wish for a self-catering holiday. Within walking distance you can find from supermarkets and bakeries, including a very wide range of products local and traditional goods, to a post office, a variety of tavernas, cafes, bars, ATMs, doctors office and souvenir shops. While it has grown in size over the years, it still retains its special charm that draws many visitors back again, year after year.

Wonderful compound!
Our family friend groups of 9 rented Eleni’s property and we could not be happier. The pools were amazing (you will need to heat the pool if you are going later in the season), the houses a good size for each of our families. Close to everything-walk to town, the beach, great food. Eleni and her husband were super responsive and made sure we had everything we needed-could not be happier with our experience.

Perfect Stay
The week at the Villa was absolutely perfect. Our flight was delayed but Giorgios waited patiently for our arrival, showed us everything and had even done some shopping. The house is brand new, immaculately clean and exactly as described. We were there with our 4 kids, who could not have been happier. Plakias beach is right down the street (a 3 minute walk), the bakery is up the street (also 3 mins) and the supermarket is a 5 minute walk. There are several fantastic beaches within a short drive (5-15 mins.). The short walk into „downtown“ Plakias along the beach or boardwalk is really nice, especially when heading towards dinner and the sun is setting. There are also some nice restaurants in the mountains (10-minute drive) with fantastic views of Plakias Bay. Eleni and Giorgios arranged a fantastic boat tour for us and (although rare), we were able to see 4 dolphins. The trip was fantastic, the southern part of Crete is very idyllic and charming, the restaurants are wonderful and the people are incredibly friendly. Thank you Eleni and family for letting us stay at your beautiful house.
