Right in the heart of the city, just a stone's throw from Piazza dei Miracoli and the Museum of Roman Ships, I am renting a newly renovated three-room apartment overlooking the beautiful Piazza dei Vecchi Macelli.
The apartment, located on the first floor of a building with only three units, consists of an entryway/hallway, a spacious, open-concept kitchen with a dishwasher, two large bedrooms—one with a balcony—both equipped with TVs, a hallway, and a bathroom with a window overlooking the inner courtyard.
The space
The apartment was furnished using pieces purchased at antique markets and by repurposing parts of existing fixtures; for example, the headboards were made from the slats of old shutters, the chandeliers in the hallway are old semolina sieves, and the small table in one of the two bedrooms is built from the frame of an old sewing machine.
The "Santa Maria" neighborhood
We are in the "Santa Maria" neighborhood, home to the Duomo and Piazza dei Miracoli
From the house, you can easily get around on foot without needing to use a car. Public transportation stops on the adjacent street and connects the apartment to the airport and the train station, which is only a 7-minute walk away anyway.
Other things to keep in mind
The apartment’s location on the edge of the restricted-traffic zone allows for immediate access to the historic center while still being able to park right outside the building. The large windows overlooking the square in front of the building provide bright and airy living spaces.
We’re happy to provide information and advice on how to make the most of what Pisa and the surrounding area have to offer
