My mobile number was included in the welcome message sent out before your stay, and guests are always welcome to contact me directly by phone, text, or through the Vrbo platform if anything needs attention. I do not recall any specific communication issues being raised during the stay, but I’m sorry if anything felt unclear. Regarding the cleaning, we have used the same well-known Whitby cleaning company for several years, but I fully accept that if things were not quite right on this occasion, that is disappointing. Hi Sharon Thank you very much for your review and for the very good score. I’m really pleased you enjoyed the location, the easy access, and found the cottage cosy. I’m sorry there was some confusion regarding the sleeping arrangements. I would just like to clarify that Endeavour Cottage is described and photographed as a two-bedroom cottage, with the additional sleeping space being the sofa bed in the living room. That said, I completely understand that mistakes can happen when booking, especially when arranging accommodation for a group. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed the cottage overall. I’m sorry to hear that one of the beds was not as comfortable as it should have been. I will certainly check this. We have recently replaced the double bed mattress with a very comfortable one, which many guests have commented positively on, and the single beds are memory foam mattresses, but I will still inspect them properly to make sure everything is as it should be. The sofa bed is already on our list to look at replacing, so thank you for pointing this out. Previous guests have generally found it okay, but I do think it may now be the right time to upgrade it. I’m also sorry that underwear had been left in the wardrobe. That should have been picked up before your arrival, and I will raise this with the cleaning team. I also appreciate your kind comment about the communication. I’m very sorry about the cleanliness issues you mentioned. Items left behind by previous guests and anything not properly checked before arrival should have been picked up, and I will raise this with the cleaning team. Regarding the damp smell, this is not something guests have generally raised with us before, but I do take the comment seriously. Endeavour Cottage is an older Whitby property, and poor weather can sometimes affect how these traditional buildings feel, but I will certainly keep an eye on it and check that everything is as it should be. It is a high-quality bed that many guests say is extremely comfortable, but mattress firmness is very much a personal preference, and I completely understand your point. Hi John Thank you for your review and for your kind comments about the cottage and your stay in Whitby. We do take feedback seriously, and following your comments we have added an additional check to our cleaning routine to make sure areas beneath and behind furniture are included. Regarding finding the cottage and the parking, we already send guests detailed arrival instructions which we have used successfully for many years. These include the address, directions to the yard, a description of where the entrance is located, and separate directions to the parking area at the top of the hill. We have had very few difficulties reported with these instructions, so at present I’m not sure there is much more we could reasonably add without making them overly complicated. That said, we appreciate you taking the time to give detailed feedback, and we’re pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Regards Alan
