The discerning guest will find a spacious, 1800 sq ft beachfront penthouse condo with a completely unobstructed Gulf view. Hear the sounds of the surf ... smell the salt air ... feel the breeze. Come and enjoy your home away from home.

Swim or wade in the warm Gulf waters ... build a sandcastle ... or just relax on the white sand beach or on the large condo balcony. Our boardwalk takes you over the dunes to the beach.

Shared Community Pool also available.

The Gulf-side balcony overlooks the beach with a sweeping view of the Gulf. This view reaches the ship channel at the east end of Port Aransas which carries traffic into and from Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi Bay. This balcony stretches the length of the condo with ample furniture to sit, relax and enjoy the view.

This spacious second-floor penthouse was remodeled as a primary residence. The master bedroom, dining room all have large sliding glass doors opening onto the balcony with incredible views of the Gulf of Mexico.


A well-appointed kitchen Including a ceramic cook surface, Corian sinks and countertops and lots of space to enjoy preparing meals or snacks. The living room has a large flat screen HDTV, a DVD player and comfortable seating for relaxing &viewing. All bedrooms have a TV. Of course, free wireless internet is available if you must check in with the 'real world' while on the Island.


Whether you are visiting for the fishing, water sports, golf, or just relaxing on the beach, we invite you to enjoy the comfort, amenities, fabulous location and view from our condo while you are here in Port A.

The hosts were lovely - easy to communicate with, prompt, and accommodating with our request for an early check-in. Right before checking in, they indicated that the handle to the porch door had broken and they were working on it. The handle being broken meant that the only access to the patio, a key reason we chose to stay here versus other places, was through the master bedroom. That proved to be rather frustrating, but we understood that issues pop up that can't be fixed between guests. However, I now see that reviews going back to August indicate that the porch door is broken, so it seems like fixing access to the patio is not a priority. Just a head's up if you envision spending early mornings or late evenings out there (and don't want to inconvenience whoever is staying in the master bedroom). Otherwise, the place was as described. I can see how some reviewers think it's close to the beach and others complain that it's still too far. For our younger and more mobile family, it was fine. It's far enough away that you don't want to forget something and have to come back, but is close enough that it's an easy enough walk.

We really enjoyed our stay. Location and ability to walk to the beach is the star of the show here. There are signs on the trail warning of the wildlife - we did see a coyote walking through the dunes behind from the balcony at sunrise on our last day! Property was in good but not great condition. Only one of the 3 doors to the balcony really worked, although they did send us a note about that. There were also random outlets in the bedrooms that didn't work, and one of the TV's didn't work either. None of this slowed us down, and we didn't come to stay inside or watch TV, so it wasn't a big deal, but probably not hard to fix either. We would still come back for sure.

Location, size, and cleanliness were all great! The unit was well stocked too. We would definately stay in the unit again even though the queen beds in the back bedroom were not great and the room does not cool as well as the rest of the unit.

This is a great place to stay with lots of room. Very clean and comfortable. It is on the second floor and has a nice view of the Gulf of Mexico from the balcony. I will definitely recommend and stay again. There was only one maintenance item which I would suspect they will fix soon? The handle on the sliding door was missing/broken.

Definitely, need to have the sliding door fixed to the patio. Need a can opener for the kitchen. Guest bathroom faucet (hot) needs repaired. Middle bedroom TV does not work. Great location with choices of restaurants & close to the beach. Enjoyed having 2 pools instead of just one.

Family get together

Property was sooo spacious & clean. Large kitchen for family cooking & meals. We loved the large balcony . We sat on it at night & visited. It was great! Will definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The property was good. I however did not like that there was no washer and dryer in the condo. My fault for not checking before I booked but that is something I will start paying extra to have. Other than that it was a good stay

Spacious, clean, great location!

We love Island Retreat, and have been staying there off and on for over 40 years. This is by far one of the spacious Island Retreat Condos we’ve stayed in. It was very clean and had every item one would need for a vacay stay! So close to the laundromat on site, private boarded walk to the beach, and one of the two pools. Thanks for everything!

IR Round 2

This was our 2nd time staying in this unit. Absolutely loved it. Spacious and inviting. Kitchen has everything we needed. Housekeeping forgot to refill the dishwasher pods and within hours of being notified the owner had them delivered to us. While the living room and bedrooms are comfortable areas you won’t be spending much time there. You’ll be outside enjoying the balcony. You can see the water over the dune and the sound of the waves is so relaxing. The boardwalk to the beach is literally steps away as well. Definitely recommend renting this unit. We’ll be back.

Perfect in Port A

The property was great! Gulf view, easy walk over to the beach, and perfect size for my husband, myself, and my daughter and son in law and their 3 children. When we weren't on the beach, one of the pools at the property was easy to walk to. Communication between Paul and I was great and prompt. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and recommend this property highly.

The condo is big, enough room for everyone. Clean. Everything you need to cook. Beds are comfortable. TVs were a little tricky. Just need some beach chairs and beach toys.

Surprise beach wedding engagement

We are a retired couple who live in Austin, TX. We love going to Port Aransas with our children and grandchildren every chance we get. Our house provides enough space for our family to unwind without tripping over each other! We love the large porch with ocean views where we drink coffee in the morning, a good glass of wine in the evening and enjoy family and friends. We are so pleased to share our piece of paradise with you and know you will enjoy it as much as we do!

We looked all over the island to find a condo that fit our needs. The view, private balcony and immaculate grounds primarily attracted us to this unit/complex. While looking at other complex surroundings, it was clear the cleanliness and proximity to the beach are by far superior at Island Retreat, in comparison to other complexes on the Island. I also like the close proximity to town while still having the feel of complete privacy and quiet in the unit. Once we saw this, it was an easy and immediate decision to purchase!
