Our Home

Kini Kini Pua is a terrific home for your next Hawaiian get away. Situated less than a mile directly up the mountain side from Kailua Bay it is close to everything in Kona, yet an oasis in a friendly neighborhood. A newer (2017) private heated pool is relaxation central. Enjoy swimming year-round; lounge and visit on a beautiful pool deck that features several furnished sitting and lounging areas with umbrellas. The pool's waterfalls add to the tranquility that you will enjoy while taking in Kailua's great sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. Sit back with your favorite tropical beverage, put your feet up, and relax.

Take a warm shower in our stunning private outdoor lava rock shower and feel the pleasure of the tropics from the surrounding shower garden.

The home offers three bedrooms, two bedrooms with king beds and one with two extra long twin beds that can be converted by our staff to a king on request prior to arrival. The master has an on-suite bath with twin sinks, jetted tub and separate tile shower. There are separate living, family and dining areas in an open floor plan. The kitchen is equipped with all of the essentials. Kona coffee lovers will enjoy the smell of fresh ground beans from the Cuisinart Burr Mill. The house is decorated with island themes in mind.

A large tiled lanai, conveniently located off of the kitchen and dining area, is a great spot for outdoor meals. A gas barbecue is located on the lanai as well. Hawaii is all about living outdoors - Kini Kini Pua will make it comfortable and fun.

The property is surrounded by lava rock walls that provide privacy and extend the the outdoor living area. Native Ohia wood fencing, tropical landscaping and accents create a "real" Hawaiian feel that will stay with you long after you leave Kini Kini Pua. The garage has a wall of beach toys for you and the kids - chairs, umbrellas, coolers, boogie boards - everything you will need for a day at the beach.

The property is non-smoking and we do not allow pets. The home was constructed in 2005, the interior was updated in 2017 and the yard completely renovated in 2017 with the addition of a swimming pool, pool deck ,outdoor shower and new landscaping.

Us

My wife and I have been enjoying the Hawaiian islands for 40 years now. It has always been a dream to have our own special place there. We have had the Pua for about 10 years now and could not be happier. Our kids and grandkids love it as well. With the addition of the pool and other upgrades to the property we are now offering our home to guests. We hope that your stay in Kailua is special to you as well.

Richard war ein toller Gastgeber.Er hat bei Fragen sehr schnell reagiert und gleich geantwortet.Das Haus liegt in einer ruhigen Wohngegend und die Bilder entsprechen zu 100% der Realität.Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in Richards Haus und können es nur weiterempfehlen.Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht (Küchenutensilien, Strandausstattung etc.)In Richards Haus kann man Hawaii komplett genießen.Vielen Dank für alles.

Turning 5-0 in the Big 5-0 State in a 5Star Home

We’ve stayed on properties ranging from chain hotels to mansions. The Kini Kini Pua is by far the best. There is no doubt Richard and family loves this house. You feel at home the moment you walk in. The property is a botanical haven.If you want a chefs kitchen it is on the bland side of looks, but we made some gourmet meals with the diverse kitchenware. And holy cow the spice selection was vast. The water is turned off to the fridge so you have to make your own ice. Very easy to do with all the ice cube trays. The pool was a perfect size for 4 to take a dip. Location is great. You can get an Uber for about 12.00 to downtown if you’re looking to enjoy some adult beverages or don’t want to mess with parking.There is a book on snorkeling, highly recommend looking at it if not for snorkeling for the beaches. Better info than online. And it’s add free.Richard took time to answer questions before and during our stay. What ever house you choose enjoy your stay!

Kini Kini Pua

The house is amazingly well-appointed. Kitchen very well stocked for cooking, plush linens, beds were extremely comfortable, items for beach use were plentiful, everything one would want or need to feel at home was there! Pool and lanai were heavenly. Best rental home I have had the privilege of staying at. Richard was very easy to reach, timely in his communications and beyond helpful.

Excellent Stay in Kailua Kona!

Richard's property was the perfect property for our family of 4. The convenience of a pool combined with the property's location made our 12 night stay extremely enjoyable. The house is well stocked in the kitchen with ample plates and cookware as well as a variety of cooking ingredients (spices, oils, etc). Good sized fridge. Plenty of beach towels, bathroom towels and bedding. Also the garage is well stocked with laundry detergent and a variety of beach equipment including chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear and a pop up tent. It was very clean and well maintained overall. The backyard, lanai and pool also reflected the same. I would not hesitate to stay here again. One call out for those who are heat adverse - there is no AC but every room has an overhead fan and there were plenty of extra standalone fans throughout the house. Our family had no issues with this as the evenings are great once you open the windows to cool things out via the island breeze. And if you get too hot, just jump in the pool!

Reunion

Had a 60th bday for my wife and my sister came from Hilo area to see us after 10 years missing her. Enjoyed all the village shops and farmers markets.The house was very comfortable and the pool was a nice option.Would recommend this house in the future,only downfall is to watch the clock for quite time is unacceptable.

Great Family Trip!

Our family of four, mom/dad, and two young adult sons stayed at Richard's home just after New Year's for 9 nights. Just like other reviews have mentioned, it was very well stocked, from the kitchen to the beach towels and beach gear. The pool and large lanai were fantastic. The gardens surrounding the home are lovely and create lots of privacy. We spent a lot of time outside either swimming, sunning, or playing cards together. Richard has cards, puzzles, and children's books and games available for use, and some great reading materials, including lots of info and Hawaii travel guides. We used the books to navigate around the island. The rooms were very spacious, the beds super comfortable and fans were everywhere to keep us cool. I personally loved the wild turkeys walking the streets of the neighborhood, and the sweet lime green geckos on the lanai. There was birdsong as background music all day long! Richard's home is peaceful, comfortable, welcoming, and close to lots of stores. We would definitely stay there again! He stayed in touch throughout our stay to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Thanks, Richard!!

Home away from home

We had an incredible vacation, thanks in part to staying at this property. It truly was an oasis from the moment you stepped on the property. It’s in a quiet neighborhood that is close to everything in Kona. The pool was a huge hit with the family. The house was stocked with everything you need to get started. Richard was great to work with and the whole process was seamless.it is truly a beautiful and peaceful property and will definitely book this place the next time I visit Kona.

Peaceful pool and great escape

My husband and I stayed for a week in this beautiful one level home near to everything in Kona. Initially we planned on four adults - and the house would have been a perfect accommodation with two master bedrooms. But a late family schedule change meant it was an oasis for just my husband and me. Our stay was wonderful! Nice layout, well-equipped kitchen, good beds, wonderful pool, lovely landscaped yard, nice lanai off the kitchen, helpful book shelf, useful stocked products, clean and well cared for. We loved it and hope to return.

Amazing Property

I can't say enough good things about this property. We have never stayed at a VRBO that was so well stocked with anything and everything you would need. The owner, Richard is the absolute best to communicate with and there to answer any questions we had. The property is beautiful from the front door to the outdoors. It is beautifully appointed with comfortable furniture and beds, the landscaping is beyond beautiful, and the pool was amazing. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing stay on the Big Island. We will definitely be going back. Thank you Richard for being a great host!

Paradise!

What can I say about this property? It’s shockingly beautiful. The gardens are blooming every color and the pool is surrounded with flowers. The house is well stocked in everything from spices to beach gear. There are plenty of towels for showers and the beach. The lanai is the perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning. We listened the all sorts of birds and watched the geckos. In the evening you can see the sunset and I got some great shots of rainbows on both sides of the house. After a day at the beach rinse off in the outdoor shower and jump in the pool. The beds are super comfortable and there is plenty of space to unpack. Richard is very easy to contact and so helpful. The house is close to everything. Safeway and Walmart are a mile away as is Starbucks. I would return here again and again!

Wonderful stay in a perfect location!

My family loved our stay at Richard's home! It is a beautiful home with a fantastic pool and yard. The home is well decorated and has everything you need. Plus the home is in a perfect location for exploring Kona and the surrounding area. Richard was a wonderful and responsive host. I highly recommend this home!

Great stay in à colorful environnent

We are from Europe (France) and me and my kids have been traveling to the US each year for almost 15 years, visiting many states all over the Country, from Florida to Wyoming, and from South California to NY. We went to very nice hotels, did some home exchanges and rent many houses. Richard's house is definitely one of the nicest we've been to. It has a beautiful deco inside with lots of tiny details that make the difference, the pool is very clean and refreshing, the view around the house is amazing, the lanai is so cool to sit in and the tropical garden is a gem. Waking up in this colorful environnent was an everyday pleasure. Let alone that Richard is a very nice host who gives you a ton of information about restaurants and things to do. We strongly recommend this rental.

Great Location

Fantastic location. Everything is only minutes away. Very clean with a beautiful outdoor patio and pool. The house had all of the essentials to cook with and everything you needed to take with you for a relaxing day at the beach.

Relaxing getaway

A great, relaxing property in a quiet neighborhood. The waterfront was only minutes away. The home is close to restaurants and stores and is about 10 miles from the airport. We enjoyed the serene lanai and incredible garden. Richard was available to answer any questions and check-in was a breeze.

Perfect week in Kona!

We spent a perfect week in the beautiful Kini-Kini Pua house in Kona. The layout of the house is very convenient- more spacious than we expected, although we spent most of our time in the yard. The walled yard feels very private and luxurious, especially considering it is in a neighborhood. House is well provisioned- the kitchen had any dishes and cooking tools we could need, linens were nice, lots of pool and beach toys were on hand and there was a basket on the lanai with additional sunblock etc. if we needed it. The location is great- it was away from the traffic of Ali'i Drive, but close enough to be in downtown Kailua within minutes. Richard also provided tons of recommendations on restaurants, beaches, activities etc. There are some comments about the "challenges" of the noise ordinance. Richard was very clear from the beginning about the neighborhood noise restrictions (especially regarding the pool). We needed to remind our kids to settle down a couple of times (Marco Polo was a hard no) and we explained that the pool was closed to kids from 9pm to 8am. But, with a little awareness, the "quiet hours" were easy to follow and the benefit is that we also got to enjoy the peaceful quiet that the neighborhood provides. We really can't say enough about how great our stay was- I would have stayed another week if we could have!! We are already talking about going back...
