Welcome to Nakukui Ekolu at Kahakai Estates, also known as The Piece of Mind Retreat. Set on more than half an acre in a gated Kona neighborhood, this private 3-bedroom home offers the space, privacy, and outdoor living that make a Big Island vacation unforgettable.

Start your day with coffee on the ocean view lanai, wander the tropical garden for seasonal fruit, cool off in the pool, relax in the hammock, or enjoy a friendly match on your private sand volleyball court. End the evening around the firepit while watching Kona's spectacular sunsets.

Inside, the home features a relaxed open living area with comfortable seating, a flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining table for eight ā€” perfect for gathering after a day exploring the island.

Interior Highlights

The primary bedroom features a king or Cal King bed, flat-screen TV, direct backyard access, and an ensuite bathroom with dual vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower.

Two additional bedrooms are located on the opposite side of the living area for added privacy. One includes a flat-screen TV while the other is intentionally kept without one, making it a great option for younger guests or those seeking a quieter sleeping environment. These bedrooms share a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

Sensory-Friendly Note

The owner specifically chose this home to provide a manageable sensory experience for their non-verbal autistic son. If you will be traveling with a family member or friend with autism or similar sensory challenges, please contact us for more specific information.

Outdoor Living

The backyard is designed to be enjoyed all day long. Relax poolside, splash beneath the water fountains, sway in the hammock with a book, or enjoy a game on the sand volleyball court. As evening approaches, gather around the firepit for s'mores and sunset views.

Location

Located on the last street in Kahakai Estates, the home enjoys a peaceful setting with very little traffic. Just across the cul-de-sac is the neighborhood park ā€” perfect for stretching your legs or tossing a Frisbee.

Beaches, snorkeling, restaurants, and Kailua-Kona town are all within a 10ā€“15 minute drive, and Kona International Airport is about 20 minutes away.

Additional Information

Minimum night stay varies seasonally from 5ā€“10 nights. This is a non-smoking, no pets property.

Noise-aware decibel monitoring devices are installed on the property. These devices do not record conversations but alert management if residential noise limits are exceeded.

Peaceful and relaxing

The property is amazing. The house is perfect for a family with a few kids, and would work well for three couples as well. Very quiet neighborhood away from busy roads but has an easy walking path down the hill to the hub of Ali'i drive.

Perfect Vacation

We loved staying here! Exactly as described in the listing. The Pool, volleyball court and other amenities were great. Awesome location close to Kailua town. The neighborhood gate to Ali'i drive made it easy to go for a morning walk/run. When we travel to Kona again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful and quiet spot for my family

My family stayed here for one week in mid-August and we loved it! The home is exactly as pictured online and the backyard and pool were spectacular. Our 5 year old daughter picking mangos for breakfast and swimming in the pool. The place especially shines at sunrise and sunset. The neighborhood is quiet and an easy 5 minute drive to downtown. We can't wait to stay there again!

Easy living

This is our second time at this house and both times were amazing. It is so nice to have the pool and volleyball court for down days, sidewalks in the neighborhood for walking and running, closeness to Kona and beaches as wells a quick drive up to the coffee belt for a morning cup of Joe. The kitchen is well equipped for the days you rather stay in. Truly a great house to vacation at!

So AMAZING

Seriously, this place was amazing. The backyard was absolutely epic. We picked fresh star fruit and mangoes every day. We swam in the pool and loved the little shelf area with the beach chairs and umbrella. Honestly, this place was perfect for my family of 5 including two young kids under 10. We had plenty of space and the location was close to everything from food to shopping. We also took several day trips to the other side of the island. If you're looking for an epic place to vacation with your family, this is it!

This place was perfect! Great location, close to everything. Quiet neighborhood. Pool was amazing. Had everything you could possibly need. David with Kona concierge was really helpful in suggesting and planning excursions for our family. Even came with a welcoming basket. View was great from the backyard. Beautiful grounds. Highly recommend this place. Would definitely come back again. Only thing I wish they had was more beach towels. Other than that, it was the perfect vacation home.

February 50th Celebration

We had a wonderful time at the house! It was a perfect space to come home to after a day in the sun. Sunsets from the backyard, swimming in your private pool and spreading out (unlike a hotel). The kitchen was stocked with tools, appliances, dishes, pans and pots (even an instant pot!) more than most rentals Iā€™ve stayed at. While weā€™ve typically spent time up in Waikoloa it was fun to explore Kona and the southern side of the coast. We will come back again.

Amazing Property

What a beautiful house. The pool and grounds were amazing. The inside was great too but we didn't use it too much, lol! We were too bust in the pool, watching the sunset, hanging out by the fire-pit, watching the stars....Highly recommend this house to anyone. Everything was clean, well maintained and ready to use. The only thing I would suggest is a few more basics for cooking....like some oil and spices. Minor feedback. We had a great time!

Perfect place for relaxation

This home and the property was the perfect place for our family visit to the island. The home was clean and spacious and had everything youā€™d need from towles to preparing home cooked meals/grilling if you didnt want to eat out every night. They also had snorkel gear and beach gear that was such a great additional plus for us. The property is amazing! The pool is large and clean, the volleyball net was so fun to have right there for a quick game. Location was perfect. Close to Kona downtown, and close to many restaurants, beaches, and easy access to get to/from anywhere in the island. The views both day and night were great. You can see the ocean from the backyard. The neighborhood is quiet and family friendly (if youā€™re a loud partier into the night-this may not be the place for you). Vacation Home away from Home

We booked this property while celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. Us and In-laws stayed at the property, total 5 guests, and there was plenty of space in the home and yard to be confortable. We had other extended family come over for dinners and pool time who came to help us celebrate, even booking a group yoga class in the back lawn. It was amazing! Every detail was thought of so there wasn't a need for a rushed trip to the store for basic home needs after landing. It was a beautiful space everyone enjoyed. We appreciated that it was advertised honestly and were continually surprised at the thoughtful details like beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler and boogie board. Our kids surprised us with our 3 month old grandson and we were so delighted to find a pack-n-play in the garage to accomodate their visits. All around great value and experience! Overall it was great

Overall it was a great stay. The only thing I didn't like was the day after we checked in, the landscapers came (which was totally fine) but there were there for over 8 hours so it basically ruined our day of being able to use the pool or enjoy any of the outside stuff they had there and they never reattached the hammock when they were done. I understand things needing to be kept up but we couldn't check in until 4pm and they came the very next morning at around 9am and we're there until we'll after 5pm.. it would have been better planning for them to come the day before we checked in or even the day of so we could actually use the things we paid for. The tree branches fell into the pool and all over the place and my husband had to go out there and clean the pool out afterwards so we could even use it. Other than that issue, everything else was good.

Perfect place for a 2 weeks (Ironman) trip

Honestly, this was the best place we ever rented anywhere. Fully equipped, in perfect condition, great location, ā€¦, what else can you expect? honestly, this was the best place we ever rented anywhere. Fully equipped, perfect condition, great location, what else can you expect? should we return to Kona, we will definitely try to re-rent it again.

Fantastic stay!

This house was perfect and the pool and outdoor area were amazing! We really enjoyed our stay here. Great view of the sunsets, nice quiet neighborhood but very close to everything. Great vacation!
