Escape to the tranquil French countryside and enjoy a relaxing stay in Le Nid, our newly refurbished cosy gite on an old farm. You are surrounded by fields and woodland with beautiful views and green spaces. It's the perfect place to unwind, yet close to everything you need.
Just a 15 minute drive away lies Lac de Montbel, a beautiful lake with sandy beaches, swimming, boating and a range of other activities, as well as a bar/restaurant. From your door, you can explore scenic walks and cycling routes through rolling farmland and forest - ideal for nature lovers and those seeking fresh air and quiet. We are happy to advise on walking and cycling routes, local cycle hire and can on occasion offer a guided service.
When you're ready to explore, you're perfectly placed:
- 3 minute drive to 2 local supermarkets, restaurants and take aways
- 15 minutes to Lavalenet for shops, outdoor market and restaurants
- 20 minute to Mirepoix a delightful French medieval town with a famous outdoor market
- Just over an hour to the Pyrenean ski resorts, (with walks in summertime), Carcassonne (1 hour) and Toulouse (1 hour 20)
- Visit the marches gourmandes (street food festivals) which run through July and August and offer delicious cooked meals, drinks, live music and a typically French atmosphere! Only a 12 minute drive away.
After a day of exploring, cool off in the pool, have a game of pétanque, enjoy dinner outdoors and soak up the peaceful rural atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a romantic escape, a family adventure, or a quiet break surrounded by nature, Le Nid offers the perfect base to discover the beauty of southwest France. Le Nid, which translated means The nest, is a renovated cow shed/stable, where the swallows used to regularly build their nests.
Le Nid has two bedrooms. Both rooms have king size beds and one room can also be set up with an additional single bed or cot (please let us know in advance if you need this) which means it can be used as a twin room or with 2 adults and a 3rd adult or child in the single bed. There is a small step up to the bathroom where you will find a large modern walk in shower, toilet and wash basin.
The main area of the single story gite is open plan and has a well equipped kitchen with dish washer, washing machine and large fridge freezer. There is a dining area with a large table and chairs and a lounge area with a sofa, chairs and 50” TV with a firestick to access a range of channels. All bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided for your stay. There is also a welcome pack on arrival with a few essential items to get you started. Outside the gite is a covered dining and seating area to relax away from the heat of the sun, with a bbq, table tennis and pétanque area close by. The swimming pool is 8m by 4m with a depth of 1.5m throughout and has a small sunbathing terrace with loungers. There is a large parking area directly outside Le Nid.
We welcome dogs at Le Nid, as we have our own, but they are not permitted in the pool or on the beds. On our land behind Le Nid there is a mown grass walk around the field of about 1 km, ideal for your dog walks.
Le Nid is attached to Ferme de Rampini where we live, but has its own entrance and outside facilities. We are on hand if you need us, but appreciate the need for relaxation and privacy whilst on holiday, so we will leave you to enjoy it.
