The Homestead is a 3-bedroom home with 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed, 1 full-size bed, and a bunk bed ( Twin on top full on bottom), 2 baths, microwave, gas fireplace, cable TV with DVD, and deck with a scenic view. 9 occupants.

Noisy and needs repairs

Advertised on VRBO as one level but the stairs to two locked lower level doors were not mentioned. We had a toddler with us and would have brought a gate to keep her safe had we known. The rules are multiple and one was no furniture was to be moved. So we couldn’t block them. The Bar & Grill is close to this cottage and 2 floor fans were used to drown out the drunks fights at night. One of the rules is that after 10 pm it’s suppose to quiet. Must not apply to the bar business. 2 ceiling fans looked like they would fall out if used. The description and pictures implied it was close the water. It was about a half block walk, down some stairs to get to the lake and beach. There is duck tape around the trim of one window. We weren’t sure if it was to keep wasps out because we killed 2 inside the cottage. The eating utensils were dirty with dried food. Tons of rules to follow so make sure you read them before you sign the contract. Hiller management staff were helpful when I called before we arrived. After we left I contacted them to let them know the condition of the cottage and our experience and that it would be reviewed accordingly on VRBO.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We try to stay at Elberts each time we visit St Germain. We have stayed in several of their cabins and have always enjoyed our stay. Having Timber’s pub on property and easy lake access is a bonus. On our last stay we had a little issue with the furnace and gas fireplace but I was able to get in touch with property management quickly to resolve the problem.

Our only problem was the public bar the is steps away from the cabin. We are light sleepers and when patrons would come and go we would wake up. the bar was not rowdy and you could not hear people unless they were coming and going - but like I said- as light sleepers it was kind of a bummer. the price was likely reflected in this- and we booked late and took what we could. the property manager are delightful. just know it can be loud.

We were very pleased/happy with our stay and cabin; especially during a time when cleanliness and safety are at an all time high. Cabin was very clean and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. The was once again many memories made during our vacation. We also got to see many friends that we see every year when we come up here. This year was very strange because of Covid which caused the bar to close our second week but we tried to make the best of it and look forward to next year.

This cabin is built on a basement foundation so you don't get the "fun House" experience with floors sloping all over making you feel like you had too many. The hot water was plentiful with multiple showers going just like at home. Heat worked great, no cold rooms. Plenty of room for gear and fun. So close to the bar you could crawl like a baby if you needed to.

Reviewer Comments: The Homestead is an old cabin but has a ranch open style where the kitchen, dining room and family room are open; thus letting you feel not closed in. The two bathrooms are updated and perfect. A new king mattress has been added this year to make your night's sleep restful. WIFI service is great. Many nights you can view deer from the deck. Years ago we saw a black bear. Close to everything but also nature.
