Welcome to Chippewa Cottage!

This cottage in Yonahlossee has been completely and tastefully remodeled. It is surrounded on three sides by Moses Cone and Julian Price Parks with over 7,000 acres to explore. There is a cozy living area with a gas fireplace, a kitchenette, a view porch, and a nearby stream. Enjoy snug comforts and exploring miles of nearby trails and hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Chippewa is a duplex sharing one wall with the neighboring property. It features a semi-private, king bedroom with an HD Smart TV and built-in cabinetry along with a spa-like, full bathroom with custom, hammered-copper double vanities, a towel warmer, and an oversized tiled shower with a frameless glass door. The comfortable living area features a gas log fireplace and an HD Smart TV with BluRay/DVD Player. The kitchenette has been fully renovated with stainless appliances, butcher-block wood countertops, and a 4-seat bar top for dining. Chippewa has a wraparound porch with Adirondack-style gliders and a bistro-style table and chairs, from which you can enjoy seasonal views.

For cyclists, this cottage is located on the route of the 100-mile 'Blood, Sweat, and Gears' race. Shulls Mill Road is a beautiful mountain road that provides access to the parkway, Hwy 221 between Blowing Rock and Linville, Valle Crucis, and Boone. It makes the perfect base for your training weekend.

Quiet mountain escape

Very nicely appointed cabin which is actually part of duplex. Nice porches and loved the heated floor in the bathroom. Enjoyed the stay.

Great stay!

We love staying in the Yonahlossee area. Lots to do and good access to a variety of hikes and ski areas. Cottage is nicely done and equipped. Very comfy bed and linens. Gamekeeper restaurant is across the road. We love going there! Great food, service and ambiance.

Paradise in the mountains!

Our cabin was tastefully appointed. The furniture and king bed were very comfortable. All the appliances were fairly new and functioned well. We will definitely book this property in the future.

Long Birthday weekend for the wife...

This makes the 2nd time we have stayed at the Chippewa. We love everything about it, especially being pet friendly. So close to the Blueridge Parkway, Boone, West Jefferson. Just a great little place to stay, we will be back

Absolutely loved it, area is great, 3 mile drive from anything you could possibly need, stay was amazing, clean, up to date and has the homey feel too it. Donā€™t take snaggy mountain rd, you wonā€™t like it lol

We loved it

Cutest little cabin nestled in the mountains. It snowed while we were there and it was beautiful. The ride up to the house it gorgeous. Unfortunately we didnā€™t get to stay but one night due to cold storm freezing all the water and everyone was without water and electricity. We managed to stay one night.

Lovely Cabin

Cabin was great for a snowy weekend getaway. Very cozy! The only complaint we had was there was no directions on where we were supposed to take the trash out to so we needed up having to bring it home. Otherwise definitely a 5 for us! We will be back!

Wonderful Cottage

Very nice Cottage. Was not fond of the narrow roads and curves. No area to let dog do their business. Parking a little awkward. No information as to what to do with trash.

Clean cottage + good communication!

Overall was very happy with our stay! The property manager was very proactive and helpful with communication and the cabin had a very nice kitchen and bathroom. The whole place was very clean! The only downside was the pull out couch, it was by a sliding door that did not have curtains (this was visible in the listing, I just didnā€™t notice until we were there). It faced the woods so I can understand why curtains wouldnā€™t seem necessary, but with surrounding cottages it still would have been nice to feel more private. A cigarette butt also fell out of the couch when we opened it. Overall still a good stay!

Cute cozy cabin

The cabin was very sweet and cozy. I was very comfortable there and loved the wrap around deck. The bed was very nice and I slept great. The sofa was comfortable and it was nice to watch tv from there. The bathroom was beautiful! It's listed as pet friendly and our cockapoo definitely found some toys he loved playing with. The only problem is there really isn't an easy area near the property to walk your dog, especially at night. But overall, I would love to stay there again! Super curvy roads leading in and out of Boone/Blowing Rock but that's part of the adventure!

Precious and Private!

This little cabin is a super surprise!!! A whole lot of class in a small space. It was everything we needed and more. As they often say, BIG THINGS come in small packages!!! First class all the way!!! Only complaint is that we wish weā€™d stayed longerā€¼ļø In fact, while we were there, Winter Storm Avery decided to come for a visit....we had an ā€œicyā€ trip down the mountain; But, it was beautiful. We WILL BE BACK!!! Highly recommendā£ļø

Cozy Cabin

We loved our stay at this cozy cabin. The inside was tastefully updated and more than spacious for the two of us. The bedding and shower were luxurious and the kitchen had almost everything you would need to cook any meal. We do wish there had been a small welcome supply of coffee pods with cream and sugar - we didn't buy any on our way to the cabin as all the other places we stayed at supplied some. The old style coffee pot was on the counter but we found a Keurig tucked in a cabinet. Biggest drawbacks were that the small deck was not clean so we couldn't sit outside in the trees although there is no view. The location was close to both Boone and Blowing Rock which was nice, but keep in mind up winding roads. The cabin is in a complex that you drive through which we had not expected from the listing.

Weekend at Chippewa

Overall, the Chippewa unit was a good fit. However, there are a couple of concerns that should be brought to your attention: 1) the swinging doors leading into the bedroom really should be removed - they serve NO purpose other than being annoying and kinda dangerous if your hand slips and the door slaps you in the face. Would highly recommend the removal. 2) the grout in the bathroom is breaking up and away from the tiles and at any given time walking barefoot into the bathroom can really hurt one's feet! Highly recommend the grout be repaired. 3) Shower has NO handrails for safety while showering. This is a safety concern and because the flooring in the shower is a bit slick when showering, there is NOTHING to grab onto in case of a slip to prevent a fall. 4) Both the website description of this unity and the confirmation email says this unit includes a "grill" which was one of the reasons we chose this particular unit - we wanted to grab a couple of steaks at the store and grill out at this beautiful location. Unfortunately, when I contacted the Property Management to confirm the type of grill I was informed there was no grill. Definitely a disappointment. 5) The TV and the streaming options were great but is was a bit annoying that the TV in the living room area had the "caption" feature that could not be turned off! Would definitely request that feature be corrected so guests could decide if it was a feature they wanted or not. Simple request - easy fix but we tried everything to get it corrected, but could not. We enjoyed the cabin and it's location was great!

Blowing Rock cabin

We were lucky to have the cabin and area around us to ourselves. The walls are thin but we had no one in our circle so it was very private for our stay. We loved the cabin and the quaintness of the location. I am recommending to a friend of mine for her and husband to get away.

The Cabin in the woods

To summarize our stay, it was absolutely lovely. The cabin provided a proper 'cabin in the woods' familiarity with the windows highlighting the scenery to the decorative accents to complement the culture in the surrounding area. Yes the cabin was on the smaller size, but as a party of two, I couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend staying at this cabin to escape the hustle of the city life or to soak in the serine mountain atmosphere.

Small and comfy

We enjoyed the propertyā€¦. Just the right size for the two of us. Smaller refrigerator worked fine for our food and all the items were there for us to cook several meals, including dessert! The king size bed was really comfy and the bathroom was amazing! Only thing we would note in the bathroom was the grout missing between the tiles so the floor shifts in certain places and makes a grinding noise. The gas fireplace was on when we arrived and, even with snow and ice on the ground, we had to turn it off periodically because it actually got TOO warm! The area is located midway between the Grandfather Mountain area and downtown Blowing Rock, depending whether you turn right or left leaving the complex. Duplexes were easy to find. Plenty of things to do in the area and lots of restaurants, even right down the road. All in all, we would definitely return!

Birthday getaway

Perfect weekend getaway for my wife's birthday. Cabin is cute, perfect sized, and close to everything. Couple of great restaurants right on top of the mountain, and only a short drive into town. Great trip!
