This is our 3rd time at this amazing property.The staff Tara & Elizabeth are great!The location is an easy drive to either Mendocino or Fort Bragg to explore the towns or a dinner night.This home will accommodate 4-couples very comfortably.I highly recommend this home for your next stay on the coast.

Beautiful Waterfront Property

Wonderful house on the sea with amazing views. Great location just north of Mendocino, which is a wonderful town. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and contains an amazing art collection. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and the bathrooms very clean and well supplied with towels and toiletries. We made our dinners at the house and the kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. This is by far one of the nicest properties we have stayed at, and Elizabeth was wonderful to ensure that our stay was perfect. We really didn't want to leave. I would highly recommend this property.

Amazing property in Mendocino

Fantastic house with space to spread out. Perfect for two families with adult children. communication with hosts was easy with fast responses to questions. Not an inexpensive stay but the house has the "wow" factor.

Exceptional First Class home

This is a custom high quality home with spectacular ocean views. The photos do not do it justice. The house looks much better in person. Elizabeth the house manager is terrific. She is helpful and responsive and knows the area, restaurants, private chef, and anything else you need. You will not be disappointed. The art collection in the house is like visiting a museum. Many nice outdoor sitting areas.

Family Gathering

The property was impressive and delivered on a great Mendocino Coastal vacation with the family. The views from much of the house were stunning and the layout allowed for family game time, dinner, and space for everyone. The location allowed for walking to the lighthouse and close proximity to the City of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Check-in was easy and Elizabeth was very helpful and responsive. Great rental.

A magical week

Our visit to Sunset Cove was a celebration of life with our 80+ year old parents. The fantastic views, magical gardens, house layout, pristine linens and over all cleanliness couldn’t have been better. House managers Elizabeth and Bart could not have been more gracious and helpful….. thank you! The property is everything you see online and more. Cheers!

Dream Come True

We had dreamed about buying this property when it went up for sale several years ago. When I saw it was available for rental I booked it immediately. To say it was better than we ever dreamed possible is an understatement. I had read other reviews that said the pictures don't do it justice - they were spot on. I can't say enough wonderful things. It was perfect in every way!! The layout was excellent for our group of 5 (2 couples, 1 single) as it provided plenty of space for alone and communal time, both inside and out. Despite the luxury of this house it is really quite cozy and comforting. We decided on night 1 that we were never going to leave. Elizabeth & Bart, our hosts, were just delightful and made us feel right at home. They ensured every need was met and then some (thank you!!). We had dinner cooked by Chef Greg one night. He was so much fun & the food was outstanding! I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We will definitely be back!!

Heaven on the coast

This was our 2nd trip to this location. This beautiful home sits on the edge of the coast with breath taking views. It provides privacy and a relaxing atmosphere. This is the home to let your hair down and leave your day to day life back home.

Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous returns..

Where to even begin?!?! The photos do not even start to depict the grandeur here. I'll try not to repeat what others have already said, but... As frequent visitors to the N. Calif. / Oregon Coast, we found this property had *the best* view we have ever enjoyed. The home is perched atop the cliffside surrounding a rocky cove, so the waves feel like they're crashing at your feet. Even more spectacular was the visual of the mist against the sunset/sunrise. We did stay here 1 week after a round of King waves, and the surf level did not disappoint. Walking the coast trail South to the lighthouse at high tide was breathtaking as we stopped to see the highest waves we'd seen crashing over the rocks. A trip back at low tide would surely lead to some great tide pool exploring. If you venture out, do take the time to peek down at the water in the various coves that are sheltered from the waves since we saw numerous seals swimming in those to avoid the high tides. Speaking of animals, we saw herds of deer, and a pack of three grey foxes daily (foxes didn't bat an eye as we passed so they seemed pretty docile). Our time did also include some heavy rains each day, and very high winds some nights. The neighborhood lost power & therefore wi-fi (300mbps when on) 1 night, but the home's generator kept more than enough power to the home. The place really is appointed to deliver most any need one could have. We found on top of central heat, there were AC/heat units affixed in many rooms which allowed us to adjust the climate in our rooms accordingly. For any chefs looking at this home, look no further. Yes, the range top is amazing, and the supply of kitchen appliances/utensils/flatware exceeded our needs and expectations. There was ample space for storing chilled goods given the multiple fridge/freezers in the home, & the fridge/freezer drawers throughout the kitchen. It 100% gave me some ideas for wanting to outfit my own kitchen. One could definitely travel here, load up with groceries, and never need to leave with how well this home is laid out. If you do opt for dining in the area, Piaci's was our favorite pizza, the burgers at Jenny's never disappoint (literally a key factor in choosing to return to Ft. Bragg for us - it's that great), & Sea Pals' chowder or prawns/fish and chips were a huge hit for us. Check out Cowlick's Ice Cream for dessert (even in a full downpour, the line was literally out the door the night we went).

Gorgeous, luxurious, everything needed & more right at your fingertips... It's a perfect place for a family gathering & some alone-time, all in one. Elizabeth & Bart were both gracious and warm, & the entire experience was more than we could have expected. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who conspired to make this trip a family memory!

Happiness in Paradise

Beautiful, every corner of this home and property is lovingly cared for and nurturing to be in. The house and views are spectacular. Amazing Stay!

We went to Mendocino to elope and wanted a nice place to stay with just a few close friends and family. This place could not have been more perfect! Elizabeth greeted us warmly upon arrival and made sure that our every need was taken care of. She helped us coordinate the caterer for our wedding dinner at the house and put together a beautiful floral arrangement for the table. Our party of 7 guests had more than enough space an amenities to spread out and enjoy. The gardens are just breathtaking, and provide even more space for enjoyment. Amazing views from the two outdoor decks are the icing on the cake. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone, and in fact we are planning our return for our one year anniversary! Thank you for an absolutely lovely stay! Jenn & Eric

Coastal Paradise

This is a beautiful home but I would not recommend for children. Fabulous garden and views and the house host Elizabeth is very welcoming. The 4th bedroom is a Queen bed and no closet , but does have a large dresser and Armorie. Great location!

Amazing house

We have rented homes for 20 years and never felt compelled to write a review. This house changed that. The location is perfect. In a quite neighborhood but still very close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Right on the ocean with amazing views. A quiet beach is a short walk away as is Caspar Headlands State Park. The house itself is amazing. They could charge admission to see their garden. The house is laid out so that it offers a lot of privacy if you are in a large group. The artwork is amazing and the quality of the furnishings is top notch. The icing on the cake was their rental manager Elizabeth. She went above and beyond in every sense to the word.

No words can describe it...

But I'll try. Please forgive my stream of consciousness.... This fantastic retreat has wonderful entertaining and gathering spaces, along with a well appointed kitchen (a definite understatement), and a media room for movies and games. There were also several private nooks for catching up on reading, napping or conversation. And the art collection was not to be believed! The photos for this listing don't even begin to capture how special this home is. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, with sooting water features and outdoor statuary. Being able to walk to the Cabrillo lighthouse from the property is a bonus. We did the 2 mile round trip every day The views along the bluffs were spectacular. Elizabeth our host was gracious and helpful. She greeted us upon arrival, and laid out a beautiful cheese tray with a bottle of wine. Elizabeth was available whenever we had a question or needed a recommendation. We've been staying at various types of vacation homes for over 20 years, and this is by far the best. Both our families had an amazing Thanksgiving at Sunset Cove. We hope to return.

The most amazing house ever

Go to this house and stay in this area. It is worth every single penny. The house is far more amazing than the pics. The property manager is lovely. The location is just insane. You can sit and stare at the Pacific or you can head out every single day and it one of many many nearby state parks most are within 15 min of this house and would be classified as National parks if they weren't in California. Just amazing. Really adorable little foxes, birds and deer if you want to just sit and watch the world. Town of Mendocino is quaint and really interesting. People are quite lovely (we spent 2 weeks in Tahoe over the summer and in all honesty our faith in the friendly welcoming californians was completely obliterated). We only interacted with absolutely wonderful people. But this house.... omg. The master suite alone is mind blowing.

Extraordinary experience

We are three couples that came together for an extraordinary week in a beautiful house. The views from the rooms (floor to ceiling windows) and the patio was breathtaking. The furnishings and art were also beautiful. The kitchen was remarkably equipped on a professional level. Would love to return someday. The hostess was accessible and very helpful.

Magical, gorgeous, memories for a lifetime

It would be hard to overemphasize the beauty of the home and its situation on the cliff above the ocean. I rented the home for 8 nights in August for a family reunion where we could relax and enjoy each other's company and the beauty of the Mendocino area. The 1 acre property is landscaped to perfection in a natural style and welcomes you from the moment you come through the gate. There are sweet surprises around every corner, and it is a feast for the eyes. I saw deer every day and a fox right on the property below the deck! The interior of the house is beyond what the photos show and is inviting as well as elegant. With 8 people, everyone had their own space and so we could balance together time and alone time. Our house manager Elizabeth was as gracious, kind, responsive and helpful as you would ever find at any 5-star hotel, both before and during our stay! Greg greeted us at the house, so we were beautifully welcomed. Greg also prepared us a private chef dinner that was exquisite. Due to COVID-19, he delivered it to the door rather than preparing and serving us inside. Even with that, he delivered everything plated and with directions to reheat to final perfection. The halibut was the best I've ever had! He has a store in Fort Bragg, Roundman's Smokehouse, that we wanted to check out but ran out of time. I scheduled activities for our active group - Skunk Train rail bikes, beach horseback riding, Mendocino shopping (great!!) Big River Beach outrigger canoes, and more. We saw whales from the house's deck even though it was out of season! I found everything within easy reach of the home, so it was very convenient. I even picked blackberries near the home and made a pie! Although we didn't visit any wineries in person, we bought and enjoyed many bottles of excellent Anderson Valley wines. Memories and a vacation of a lifetime. If you love the ocean and the beauty of nature, you can't do better than this home. And Elizabeth and Greg were the icing on the cake, so I felt well cared for. Enjoy!!
