Welcome to your next home away from home for your next Black Hills vacation! Stay in this wonderful cabin amongst the pine trees and enjoy the local wildlife from the hot tub on the wrap-around deck. You'll love the location of this cozy getaway cottage as it's only two blocks from Terry Peak's Stewart Lodge! It's easy access to the ski slopes and local ATV/snowmobile trails will keep you coming back year after year! You can be skiing in minutes, enjoying the rock canyons of Spearfish Canyon or gambling in Deadwood within 10 minutes, or taking in the sites of Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park within a 45 minute drive. It's a great location, and perfect for family getaways!

The home boasts 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. You'll have a hot tub with a view from the deck, a wood-burning fireplace for those cold nights in, and flat screen TV's for those movie nights with the kids. There's also Starlink internet, providing fast and reliable internet service! The kitchen/dining/living room flow seamlessly together making it a great place to gather with your friends and family. In the basement you'll enjoy the mini bar with your comrades, and find a ping pong table in one of the stalls of the garage. You can also use the one stall garage for a small vehicle or ATV. It's a great place to bring some friends, settle in, and enjoy some fun nights in after days on the local trails. You'll have 4 total queen beds, a twin bunk bed, a twin day bed, and one full bed - plenty of area for you and your family/friends to lay your head. With plenty of space to spread out, you'll love your next vacation home in the Black Hills. Make your next vacation a memorable one at Terry Edge Retreat!

Great Place to Stay

Place worked out great. Close to Terry Peak. We had three families with six adults and five kids age seven and under and the rooms on three different levels provided lots of space.

Mickelson Trail Run stay

The property worked perfect for our group with a couple on each floor with their own bathroom. The cabin is decorated perfectly and was very comfortable. The place needs a good deep cleaning (although we understand the dirt roads cause dust issues).

We used the fireplace every night, and enjoyed family time around the big dining room table! There were a lot of stairs to manage with little ones underfoot. It is within walking distance of Terry Peak Ski area, which was a big plus for us!

Fun in the Hills

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we had a nice stay. Nice home but there were a few things that could have been better. A couple of the comforters were dirty and things were pretty dusty. A couple of light fixtures weren't working. The place could use some TLC. Lots of room for everyone.

Just the bare minimums

We had 14 people in our group. There were no extra towels, only 2 toliet paper rolls per bathroom, only 4 trash bags were available. We had to go buy dishwasher detergent because again only 3 tablets to use. It seemed like bare minimum of necessities were out so we had to go buy own and stock the place. No pack n plays or high chairs to use for littles, so if you have littles be sure to bring your own.

Disappointed

Grill was disgusting and only had one burner that worked. Hot tub was dirty. Dirty wash cloth in drawer. Blanket in closet on floor just thrown in not folded. Advertised as air conditioned. Well, had a portable room air conditioner made permanent. Could not cool all rooms. Toilet paper holder broken. Everything very dated and not bringing kept up. Very disappointed in our stay.

Great house/poor managment

Check in time was 4:00 and the house was still being cleaned. We came back at 4:45 and the cleaners were still finishing up. The beds were not finished, the rug in the bathroom was wet (dripping). They commented the humidity was the problem for the delay. We discovered later the dryer was not working due to a packed vent. We cleaned it out and the dryer worked great. The house was advertised as having central air, it did not. We talked with management and advised her to change the description. The weather was very cool and rainy in the evening so the house stayed cool after we opened it up. The first evening, it was hot and stuffy. Had the weather been hotter, we would have requested a new house or money back. On day 3 our water was shut off, during morning showers. After going out and chatting with the construction crew, they informed us of repairs and possibly not having water until the following day, depending on what they found. We were not notified by management, until we contacted them. Budi informed us she was not notified by the ski resort of the work until earlier that morning. Rather than giving any surety that our needs would be taken care of if we were out of water for 2 days (with a house of 10 people), she argued the construction crew was wrong. It ended up being a quick fix, in only 1 area, so we did have water by that afternoon/evening. The house was great!! *We would not use stay in a house through Black Hills Adventure Lodging again. They were not up to date on the house information, maintenance, or the repairs in the area. They offered no apologies or concessions. *

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: PROS: the cabin was adequately stocked with items minus wash cloths.The hot tub was working fine and clean.Decent amount of space to spread out.Bathrooms were fairly nice. Cons: The driveway is NOT trailer parking friendly. Not even close. Road was also washed out by driveway forming a huge gulley.The deck needs to be redone. Unsafe to walk in many places. The sheets had not been washed on for sure 2 of the beds. There was hair and food in the sheets when we got there late at night. The main floor bed is in need of a new mattress or supports. It felt like a hammock. There was a gap under the patio sliders to deck that was about an inch that let in lots of flies and one pesky moth. Our last experience with Black Hills adventure lodging was amazing, but this cabin just needs a little work.

Beautiful Perfect Location

We really enjoyed this home. The location was perfect for our needs. Overall the home was clean (bathrooms, kitchen) but a bit dusty and in need of a sweeping throughout. But we would definitely stay again.

Great Cabin

The boys were able to walk to and from Terry Peak as the needed as it was so close. If I would change anything, the hot tub was hot and clean but pretty small for a cabin that sleeps 15. Overall we had a great experience at the Terry edge Retreat.

Reviewer Comments: The cabin was very pretty and big giving everyone enough room for our family of 12 when we stayed, however the cleaning crew needs fired! Do not loose anything under the beds because they haven’t been cleaned bad there were mint containers, balls among other things and the dirt and dust was disgusting. There were light bulbs in rooms that were burnt out and one of the rooms had the beautiful glass light fixture taken down and just sitting on the floor in that room. We had to move bulbs from unnecessary lights to the room where they were burnt out. When the manager was emailed regarding this we were told that they likely went to get bulbs and couldn’t make it back to get them replaced before we got there, which is weird because we didn’t get there till 1 in the morning. Also, wouldn’t you think it would have been something worth a knock on the door to see if we minded them coming in to change bulbs and replace the ceiling fixture? Making sure the cabin is CLEAN and the lights are working would make a huge difference in the review of this property. I wish I would have checked reviews before booking because a lot of them comment on the cleanliness aspect.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house does not have Central air, therefore in 90 Degree weather was a bit uncomfortable. It is listed as 2 car garage but only one side is accessible. The Grill is nasty and needs replaced and was no propane but realtor provided propane. The lights in the downstairs bedroom, second floor bathroom and upstairs bathroom flicker all the time. The deck needs some attention loose boards and railing is sketchy. I’ve stayed with Blackhills Adventure lodging in the past and have always had a great experience, this house on the other hand was disappointing. It’s a nice house but needs some TLC especially at 5k a week.

Good location if you are not going far, but it’s a little drive to see everything in the hills. Would have loved to use the grill but it needs some work. Also stayed during a heat wave, good thing there were fans available.

Great location and house!

Three families traveled together to the Black Hills - 7 adults, 7 kids ages 2 - 10. It was great that each family got a level of the house. Everything was nicely decorated - very clean. The location was beautiful - about 10 minutes up the mountain near the ski lift. It was quiet, beautiful and very convenient to get to all of the many attractions. The property manager was very responsive before, during and after the stay. Everything went very smoothly with the check in and check out process. No complaints - everyone had a great time and we'd definitely stay there again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Terry Edge Retreat was a wonderful getaway. The house was set up nicely for our needs. Great family time! Could've been a little cleaner under furniture,table and beds...plenty of crumbs and dust from people before. Towels and sheets are a bit tattered and worn but clean. Coffee pot could be cleaned or replaced...very very slow. We will be back in the future. We loved our time there.
