Leap on over to Leapin’ Lizard Cottage!

Real Escapes Properties is pleased to offer this charming and comfortably furnished beach cottage on a quiet street on the south end of St. Simons Island. Leapin’ Lizard Cottage features a large covered outdoor seating area, fenced back yard and is located just a few blocks from the beach.

Located all on one level, this cottage has a master suite with a queen bed and combination shower. One of the guest rooms has a queen bed; the third bedroom has a full-sized bed and an extra futon. There is a second full bath with a tub/shower combination.

Enjoy the whimsical décor throughout - especially in the updated kitchen and dining area! You will definitely be feeling on "Island Time." The home is dog friendly and has a fenced in back yard.

*Please pick up after your pet in the yard* In the evet you do not clean up after your pet you will be assessed an additional clean up fee.


NOTE: There is a minimum 3 night stay required for this property.
NOTE: The fireplace is for decoration only.

• Any group gatherings and events at this property are limited to the number of occupants (8 persons).
• Dogs are allowed for an additional $100/pup non-refundable pet fee.
• Parking is available for 2 vehicles.
• Just over 1 mile to Coast Guard Station Public Beach Access, ¼ miles to Pier Village

Minimum age to rent is 25. This applies to all guests with the exception of multi-generational families.

What to Expect in your Unit:
• There is 1 TV and DVD player located in this property.
• Linens (Bath towels & bed sheets) are provided along with a Starter Supply of Toilet Paper, Soap, Paper Towels and Trash Bag. Any additional supplies needed during tenancy will be the responsibility of the guest.

This house was wonderful - I loved being able to walk my dog to the beach in less than 10 minutes. Also the house is all on one level with step-free access so it was perfect for my senior father to move throughout. The neighborhood is quiet and all the furnishings were comfortable. I would definitely recommend Leaping Lizard cottage.

Family-friendly home

The house had almost everything a family would need, such as kitchen appliances and cooking needs, comfortable beds, a place for pets, shovels for children...It was a place where we could feel at home.

First family trip that included our “grand” pups and had an amazing time. House was as listed but with some TV upgrades which we were thankful for since we booked for opening day of college football. Very close to beach and downtown area of the island. Agree with several comments from other reviews that state it would be nice to have a outdoor water hose in the front to clean off any sand instead of tracking thru home and the outlets could definitely use an upgrade as most all items plugged in were very loose and easily detached. All in all the property was perfect for our family as we hosted our first annual oyster roast. Would book this property again.

Plenty of stocked things you may need like an extra cot for a kid and books/puzzles. It had all the kitchen stuff we needed also. The guest shower does not get very hot and the toilet does not flush well. Outlets were also pretty worn out.

Excellent Stay at Leapin' Lizards!

Our family loved our stay at Leapin' Lizards. It was the perfect size home for two families with little ones to stay in. We were a very short walk from the beach. The house had all the space and amenities needed. Wouldn't have changed a thing!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed the house and our stay. The fenced-in yard was fantastic for our dog to run around, which was a big plus for us. The house was clean, very comfortable, and felt welcoming throughout our visit.The only suggestions we have are minor. Some of the furniture is a bit dated, and the living room couch could use replacing—it sinks noticeably on the right side when sitting and watching TV. The back porch sofa could also be repaired or replaced, as several cushions on one side sank quite a bit, making it difficult to stand up from the couch. The back porch itself was great; however, during a couple of rainy days, clogged gutters caused water to leak onto the covered deck area while we were sitting at the table playing games. A simple gutter cleaning would likely resolve this.Additionally, some of the online photos could be updated. The listing currently shows only one TV, but there are actually two—a large TV mounted above the fireplace mantel and another in the back bedroom.Overall, it was a great stay, and we’re really looking forward to staying here again in the future.

It's convenient, tastefully decorated, outstanding outdoor living, great neighbors, suitable for our pups, and reasonably priced. The only improvement I can think of would be to include a king sized bed. This will be our "go to rental" for future trips.

We walked our dog there several times a day. The cottage is also walking distance to the pier area. The weather was good, some cold days, but even at 50 degrees with the sun and no wind it was great. Would recommend the island and the cottage for a wonderful vacation.

Beach weekend

The location is great. Walking distance to the beach was perfect. The backyard area was quiet and a nice place to relax. I’d stay here again IF they installed a working outdoor water hose/shower (preferably in the front of the house). Unfortunately, we were unable to keep sand out of the house without one. There is an old hose and shower out back but it was not functioning. I did not receive any follow up when I reached out to the management company regarding this being broken. But I would not stay in this property again without a working outdoor hose area to wash off before entering the house.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in this rental several times. And while the location is great the property is going downhill quickly. Not a problem that the rental company is at fault for. But the owner needs to take a better interest in the house. The ceiling and walls are peeling. The beds are far subpar. This could be a GREAT rental if it received some love. We would love to see it improved so we can continue to stay here. But until that happens we will be looking for another rental. Real Escapes continues to be the company we look to for our rental needs. We miss Cameron and will continue to pray for her.

We walked or road bikes just about everywhere, so the location is great for us too. We even met the neighbors, who were great. Couple negatives if I'm being picky....The construction at 7am next door every morning was really not good. Vacation = Sleep and we didn't get much with hammers, saws, and people outside two bedrooms. The back door knob came off but there were no tools anywhere to fix. I did the best I could, but probably needs to be looked at soon. The lock on the fence probably needs to be fixed soon too, as it was often difficult to close. Only one suggestion of enclosing the outdoor shower, as we loved it and would use more if enclosed.

Some suggestions to improve the stay:1- Make available outside running water, reduces the sand tracked inside, in tubs and a courtesy for renters to wash beach items after use.2- Only one TV in cottage, not even a HD TV. Most rentals have a TV in all bedrooms, not here.3- HVAC filters should be changed regularly, the return was full of dust! Didn't appear to have been changed in months!4- Every receptacle in bedrooms was loose, plug-ins always fell-out.5-Hallway shower couldn't be set to comfortable level, would go from hot to cold while in.6-Would be nice if den furniture was upgraded. Needs a true sofa, a lounger is not a sofa.7-Do away with the make-shift head and foot boards, current ones rocked every time you got in or out of bed.8- Update vanities in both baths.9- Didn't appear lawn service ever weeds the backyard areas, nice patio/deck, but weeds and poison ivy was abundant in both front and back.Sorry to be a "downer", having rented homes on SSI for the last 12 summers, most cottages have been updated to stay up with the competition. I feel the owner needs to hear these comments and know what renters expect and what needs improvements. I was planning to get your email when we stopped on Saturday, but you were not open. Please pass these comments on to the owners. However, you don't need to place this on your website review.

We didn't get to use the kitchen much but it looked to have had anything you could need to cook in the house. The couches and beds were comfortable. The back patio was beautiful. We were able to walk to Mallery St and many restaurants. I definitely recommend the Leapin Lizard Cottage!

Plenty of parking for our large SUV, my parent's cars when they visited and our golf cart. Beds were very comfortable and we easily slept 2 adults, 3 teens and the baby in the bed rooms. My favorite feature was an extremely well-stocked kitchen! The kids were so excited for the waffle maker, we had to make a trip to Harris Teater the day we arrived to stock up. We loved the outdoor space, great patio furniture and we appreciated being able to use the charcoal grill a few nights. The full size washer and dryer were also well used. We will be booking again for next year! A great neighborhood with friendly residence, walking dogs, waving hi! Easy to get to all the island's key sites. We would highly recommend.

Could have been cleaner, dusty, and floors cleaned. Noted black (mold or mildew) on ceiling of left bedroom over hanging rack. Noted black on ceiling exhaust fan in bathroom to right. Lawn looked as if it had not been cared for in several months...weeds and overgrown, front and back. Would recommend and would lease again if ‘spruced’ up.We did have a great time and very pleased with all the care and concern RealEscapes had in finding us a place after Irma flooded our original lease.
