The front porch swing and surrounding decks overlook the forest and small native plant meadow which is a favorite spot for flocks of wild turkeys as well as a suite of native songbirds. The two third-floor bedrooms have adjoining back balconies offering commanding views of the Jefferson National Forest-- a perfect spot for viewing wildlife and finding complete solitude.
Stunning views of the Jefferson National Forest are possible year round from both of the third floor bedrooms as well as from the exterior adjoining porches. Guests often enjoy the early morning hours for bird watching and the early evening hours for listening to the choruses of frogs, toads and owls. For the Jefferson National Forest, the U.S.D.A. Forest Service reports more than 175 species of songbirds, owls, hawks and falcons as well as an assortment of frogs and toads to include American Toads, Fowler's Toads, Northern Spring Peepers, Gray Tree Frogs, Upland Chorus Frogs, Green and Wood Frogs and Pickerel Frogs.

Far exceeded our expectations and wish we had more time. Super private location and very spacious inside. Exactly what we were looking for. Uber had not trouble finding us and we had pizza’s delivered one night. Perfect for a large family or alumni weekend to catch a game:

Prior to our arrival date, we received lots of information about the property, how to plan travel and find the house, and how to access the property. Everything was as described online. Very private, intimate decor, with adequate kitchen equipment. Everything in the house was up to date and worked well. Beds very comfortable. Lots of hot water. Very clean. Wonderful outdoor decks and porches.

A huge thanks for hosting a few old friends for a much needed respite from the daily grind! Loved the many outdoor spaces, handmade rustic furniture, and the amazing surrounding countryside.
The host, Ann, was super responsive, accomodating, and friendly... couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Hidden Gem
We were in town for a quick stay to visit our son at VT and catch a football game. The house is within 15 minutes of campus with great privacy for a family weekend. Plenty of space and views nestled in the woods. My husband even saw a bear walk by and we saw many deer in the area. We highly recommend this property if you want to get away from the busyness of downtown.

Escape
Lovely experience at your property. The location nestled in the forest was calming and relaxing. One of my friends and I noticed the pictures of the Bobwhite Quail in the downstairs bedroom. We recently volunteered with a group in north Florida moving bobwhite to PA. It was an amazing opportunity and seeing those pictures brought back those mercies. Thank you for the privilege of staying at your property.

Beautiful Mountain Retreat
Brush Mountain Lodge was the perfect place to gather our family together to celebrate the Virginia Tech graduations of two of our grandchildren. Communications with Bob the owner were excellent. While we were without Internet connection the first day, Bob and a crew were out the next day to install new equipment. The setting in the woods was very peaceful and we could hear the turkeys gobbling in the morning. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans, tableware, and picnic supplies. Bottom line, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there and highly recommend the Lodge.

A great stay close to Blacksburg
The instructions to get there were done incredibly well, that said, believe it or not we missed it the first time!
Not the second time though. Once you know where it is. It’s extremely easy to find.
It’s a pretty quick drive to Blacksburg, we were there for my son‘s graduation. GO HOKIES!
Five adults stayed there very comfortably.
It’s a quaint, rustic out-of-the-way location.
Allow yourself a few moments to relax and take it all in.
The host was fantastic. Almost immediate responses to our questions.
The house was very well stocked, with everything you could need.
It was a wonderfully eclectic place for us to all unplug, and share a perfect family gathering.

Fall trip to Brush Lodge
We have stayed in this beautiful home several times before and each time is better than the last. It is a 10m drive to see our son at VT. The windows in the house look out over the woods and you feel far away from the world when you are here. We spent hours on the many porches in the house and saw a black bear cub running through the woods this trip along with several deer. The house is immaculate and very comfortable with great decor from local artisans. The hosts are lovely and communicate promptly. This is an amazing oasis to get away from it all and still be close to Blacksburg.

Beautiful location
This house is in a beautiful location not far from Virginia Tech. The house is beautiful and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The problem we had was with the water. In the morning we were unable to take showers because either no water came out of the shower or a small stream came out. We called Buck and he told us to run the water downstairs to try and get air out of the line. After letting the water run for a good while, there was water. Since so much time had gone by we all had to leave before showering. That was frustrating and disappointing. Also know that sound travels significantly throughout the house. If 1 person was walking around upstairs the whole house could hear them. That was not a big deal for us but it could be if you have light sleepers.

Perfect Spot
We rented this beautiful property for our daughter’s VT graduation weekend. It was the perfect place for my husband, son, in-laws, & me for the long weekend. We all had our own full bathroom & our son enjoyed the privacy of the basement bedroom. The house is absolutely gorgeous, comfortable & relaxing. The huge covered porch was lovely & serene to sit on for morning coffee & during the passing rain showers. Each bedroom also has their own balcony, as well as the deck off the kitchen. The house feels as if it’s in the middle of the forest, yet we were only about 15 min from campus & actually on the way to the winery where our post graduation party was! We just wish we could have stayed longer!

Fantastic retreat in the woods
This was an ideal place for me to reconnect with a group of friends that I grew up with in Blacksburg. Everything we needed was in and around the cabin to support us having a great time. Easy access to hiking trails (Dragon's tooth is very close) and downtown Blacksburg while having a dedicated place to connect made this an ideal location for us. We'll be coming back!

Hokie family reunion
Charming home with country feel in a beautiful wooded setting. There was plenty of space for our blended family with adult children to relax and enjoy a football weekend at Virginia Tech. One issue of note is that this is a true log cabin with little insulation or privacy between most of the rooms. It was not a problem for our family, but might be an issue for some.
