Maplewood Lake Michigan Get-Away

Meander on the shores of Lake Michigan just a short walk (1/2 mile) away from this spacious, updated home away from home. Beach access provides swimming, paddle board and kayaking. Other outdoor options inlcude biking the extensive, well-marked trails, berry and apple picking, horseback riding and hiking the nearby dunes. In the evening, visit the outdoor theatre or gather under the stars for a beach bonfire.
City life is just minutes away in New Buffalo, Michigan and Michigan City, Indiana. Enjoy shopping, antiquing, a wide variety of restaurants, art/music festivals, farmers markets and several local breweries and wineries. Each city has a casino with live entertainment, and award-winning buffets and spas. This area has it all. Norte Dame is a beautiful 45 minute jaunt. Chicago is an easy 60 mile drive or train ride.

Relax in this cozy ranch with everything you need to unwind and be comfortable. The main floor was remodeled in 2015 creating spacious great room with wood burning fireplace, modern kitchen with all the ammnenites and a large dining table. Enjoy coffee, conversation, a good book or dinner on the screened porch three seasons of the year. In the three main floor bedrooms there is king, a queen and a set of twin bunk beds. There is a full bath with a shower/tub.

A finished basement is a great area for kids or teenagers with another television/DVD, and games. Also downstairs is a fourth bedroom with a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds and a full bath. Here you will find the the laundry facilities.

We couldnā€™t have been happier with this property! Everything about it was wonderfully beyond expectation. The photos donā€™t really show you what a wonderful area the living room, kitchen and porch are. The bedrooms on the main floor are great and the downstairs area is ideal for kids and teens. dealing with the host with seamless. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Excellent house close to the water

This property was in a safe, quiet and cozy neighborhood. It was well stocked with anything you could need to have a great vacation by the water. It is just a short walk away from the lake and the neighborhood even included us in their summer party. The property comes with a pass for the beach which was great.

Amazing stay!

This property was absolutely beautiful! The inside of the house was spacious, super clean, and had everything we needed. It was better than the pictures showed! The living room and kitchen had plenty of room for everyone to congregate and hang out. The attached screened in patio was also a great area to hang out. The only thing that was somewhat ā€˜weirdā€™ was that you had to go through the garage to get to the basement; however, having two separate areas was nice. The private beach was a great perk and we enjoyed going there. Check in and check out process were extremely easy which allowed us to really enjoy our time there. I would definitely recommend this house!

Great stay and we had toddlers :)

We enjoyed the ease to communicate with the owner when needed. Owner was accommodating of our ask for a little bit earlier check in. The house was a great location to walk so beach ā€” even with toddlers in tow. :) Had a great amount of beach towels and beach items to take with us to the beach too! Plenty of room for us to rest comfortably at night. The adults enjoyed the screened in porch especially at night once the kids were asleep :) I would definitely recommend especially if want a short stay, trips to the beach, and the ease cooking at home. I would suggest maybe little softer bed sheets and the gas fired place outlet cap is loose.

Perfect!

We had a group of 7 long-time high school friends get together to celebrate our 50th birthdays. This house had the perfect space for hanging out, playing games, eating, and relaxing. The screened in porch was wonderful! We had hoped to do an evening fire at the beach but the weather didn't cooperate. The beach entry system was a little confusing. We had to walk down a little farther to enter at Stop 31 and hadn't taken the pass but I showed the guard the address from the VRBO email and they easily gave us access. The second bathroom and bedrooms in the basement seemed weird and inconvenient from the listing but actually was no big deal and worked out really well. It would be perfect if two families were to share the house or if adults wanted upstairs, the kids could have down. We had an absolutely perfect weekend and would HIGHLY recommend this property!

Excellent little getaway spot

We really enjoyed our stay. The upstairs is spacious in a way that makes it really easy for a medium-sized group (6 adults, 3 kids) to simultaneously be together and break into smaller groups. We really appreciated how toddler-friendly the space was as well. The only downside was that one bedroom is in the basement, which can only be accessed through the garage and feels disconnected from the rest of the house. We ended up spending almost no time down there as a result. But we never felt we needed more than the upstairs and outside spaces. Overall, it was pretty ideal for our size group.

Family Reunion

This house was perfect for a family reunion. The younger generation stayed comfortably downstairs while the older generation stayed on the first floor. The eating area and kitchen were large enough for everyone to socialize at the same time. Perfect location!

Loved our stay

Our family stayed 4 nights and had a great time! The house is in a perfect location, about 10 minutes to New Buffalo and 10 minutes to Michigan City. The screened in back porch was such a nice place to relax, take a nap, enjoy coffee, and was big enough for us all to play card games. The kitchen has a nice ice maker, which was very convenient for filling our cooler before we started each day. It would've been nice if there was another couch or more comfy seating in the living room for us all to sit and enjoy, but with the open floor plan we were all still together. The house was very clean and a nice fit for our family.

Graduation Trip ā€˜19

Graduation trip for my daughter and her best friend. We had a wonderful time. The house has all the comforts of home and the inside is adorable. Beach is about 1/2 mile walk. Very nice neighborhood. We would definitely rent this home again. Thank you.

Family vacation

This house was perfect for our family weekend. The living area/ kitchen was very spacious and great for visiting. The basement was huge and a great escape for the kids or adults who needed a little quiet time (you enter the basement through the garage). We loved the screened in porch with large table for playing cards. The location of the place was awesome!! It was short drive to the grocery store to stock up on supplies and only a 10ish min walk to a beautiful private beach. The best part about the private beach was it has minimal stairs for the grandparents in our family. You canā€™t park at the private beach but we didnā€™t have any trouble walking and/or picking up/dropping off because it was so close. We brought our own beach supplies but the house actually had plenty we could have used. Great berry picking options around the area as well. I had lots of questions and the owner was always prompt to answer. Thank you!!!
